Re: Minn. braces for shutdown at midnight; Democratic gov and GOP lawmakers at odds o
as painfull as it may be, you are onto something.
lets end the wars, all of them, iraq was the only real necessary message to send to state sponsored terrorism.
so lets end them,
your guy is in charge.. but dont hold your breath
I think that most people would be satisfied if there was a definitive date for ALL troops being removed.
I agree, while troops are being scaled down, we still have a large and expensive presence there that is likely to remain for quite some time even without a concrete objective.
"declining wages" is just not true.. (source)
In real terms, it's definitely true. Wages HAVE declined since 2000. There was an uptick because of the leadup to the sub-prime crisis but if you factor in the extreme devaluation of the US dollar, the middle-class and below takes a HUGE hit in the wage department.
anemic job growth I will give you, but again, your guy is in charge right?
"In charge" is such an exaggeration of the full situation. We have a government with 3 branches. The executive branch cannot force positive action from a party whose stated goal is to destroy the federal government, and therefore the US economy in general, in order to gut social spending while spending exponentially increasing sums of money on a "defense" budget that now seems primarily concerned with offense.
Do the Dems share the blame at this point? Sure, but only because they seem willing to compromise their principles in the face of opponents who refuse to compromise.
Private sector job growth has been anemic for the past decade. Again the only "shining" point since 2000 was the housing bubble created by empty financial mechanisms that put alot of money in the hands of the very people who are now "hands off" by the right as far as tax raises are concerned.
and the infrastructure was supposed to be fixed by hiring millions of people with the stimulus money,
but instead unions both public and private got their hands on it to boost up entitlement shortfalls instead.
The stimulus wasn't intended to completely fix the infrastructure. It was intended to shore up jobs and stop the hemorrhaging created by the economic collapse. In order to fix our current infrastructure AND develop the infrastructure needed to grow an economy, we would have to take ALL the money from the military actions and devote it to infrastructure programs and it would still fall short.
look,
the liberal party is making clowns out of themselves, but they arent funny clowns...
this is our future
EXPOSED
Nobody is laughing about the joke of an economy produced by nearly 6 years of complete control by the "conservative" party either.
At least tax increases and infrastructure spending have proven records of success as demonstrated by the prosperity and growth generated by the "New Deal".
