Cain: Stewart Impression Shows 'Problem' With Black Conservatives, But Not Racist

on the part of both sides.

I certainly don't disagree with that. Democrats were the party of discrimination for a hundred years. But in living memory it is the Republicans that bear the lion's share of the guilt. Never forget the infamous Republican "Southern Strategy."

And considering you're issue with a Pew study is that they followed relatively standard protocols with a scientific poll, in that they captured a random sample size that is significantly smaller than the extremely large sample size being discussed, it shows that you seem to be severely lacking in your knowledge and education regarding how scientific polls work. At least it has assured me I will never once see you reference a poll unless the sample size is somehow close to 1:1 since your misguided, supposedly highly educated, opinion seemingly requires such to be "respectable".

Oh wait, no I should use some common sense...

You require a poll to be in favor of what you say for it to be respectable.

Silly me, should've just used Occam's razor.

:ssst: Better watch it, Zyplin, or pretty soon they'll be labeling you a RINO just like they did danarhea.

living memory is a very subjective term. how many negroes were lynched by them good ole southern democrats in the 30s and 40s?

as late as the late 70s/early 80s there was a small heavily democratic town in Alabama that had a large billboard at the city limits that read "NIGGERS, Don't let the sun go down on you in XXXXXXX"

and the pictures of obama as a monkey

I think 9 out of 10 times this is the biggest example of pulling the race card that the left tends to do with this President, because they refuse to look at context and just go "MONKEY BLACK MAN RACIST" despite the fact that the majority of times I've seen it done its specifically as a poke and nod to the fact that Bush was depicted that way for 8 years because he had big ears and was dumb and people feel Obama's got big ears and dumb so they do it as both representing that and because they know it'll piss liberals off when they hypocritical go "OMG THAT MUST BE RACIST!"

There's been far more times where I've seen liberals pathetically and wrongly pull the race card with the Obama/Monkey thing then I've seen honest to goodness racism from the right with it.

i'm not one who thinks every opposition to obama is racist, i do however believe that some of it certainly is.

Of course some of it is. And some of the support for obama is racist in nature as well. Support simply because "he's a black man and not whitey". However, in all reality, its relatively small on both sides. Its one thing to ignore that racism exists, its another thing to harp on it so much to make it seem...intentionally or not...that its a major thing and then when called on it whine and go "no no, I don't mean its big, I just think its a PART of it....."

No **** its a part of it, there's not been an election in the past 30 years that racist views played into the votes for one candidate or another. That doesn't mean its something that should be focused or talked about nearly as much as it is.

They keep making the same argument because it's true! And what did you take away from my post that you considered a "personal insult"? I stated that I believed this tiny bit might be over your head and your response proved that statement to be true. It was not intended as an insult, but since pesky things like facts and the truth don't matter to your ilk, I can see why you would take it that way.

Funny, considering your ilk in this thread I would say facts and truth don't matter to yours as well. What matters is what party is doing the action. That's the only "fact" or "truth" that seems to matter to your ilk involving this issue. For all the talk about what "goes over peoples head" apparently the actual topic of this thread and the race card pulling by conservatives was over your head since you completely flubbed why republicans were being said to be calling the race card in this instance.

Glass houses hugh. Examine how well things go over your own head before you start commenting on others.

A fair point. But you're dodging the larger issue about the more recent connection between Republicans and racism.

I've been getting that for 6 years, ain't no skin off my back. I take the majority of the "conservatives" who label me as such or question my conservative credentials saying such a thing as nothing more than positive feedback for my views. Because typically the only times I'm getting called that is when I got forbid am actually following my conservative principles but in a way that doesn't follow the party line...so them bitching about my status as a conservative just reenforces my stance to me.

editted for accuracy. from my experience, racism knows no party boundaries.

Both sides have a fair bit of recent history and connection with racism. The uncle tom **** that Steele and Thomas got is no less racist than the crap that Obama got. The people who voted for Obama singularly because he's black and not "the white man" are no less racist than those who didn't vote for Obama because he's a black man. The people who vote Democrat because "republicans hate black people" and believe republican = white people are no less racist than your guy who doesn't vote democrats because they support giving money to those n-words.

The pissing match for whose side is the bigger racist is so laughably asinine and patheticly stupid and in the end utterly worthless.

but perfectly acceptable when the liberals do it.. we know.. we know.
The problem is liberals don't whine about "the race card", we just get accused of using it, it's usually conservatives who do, so when conservatives pull it, it's hilarious.

I think Mr. Cain is being way too charitable to Stewart because there is no doubt as I see it that this was totally Racist.

If a Conservative were to do this about a Liberal Black Candidate the scatology would hit the fan but quick.

The Stewart clip comes at about 5 Min. 25 Sec. into the video you will find if you follow the link.

I actually liked everything Mr. Cain had to say except for his comments about Stewart, he makes a great deal of sense.
Anybody who thought that was racist is at the very least unfamiliar with Stewart and at the most unfamiliar with racism.

I missed the show and don't have audio on my lab computer. What were the supposedly racist comments?

I guess you forgot about Obama's 'race card' comments during the election.. you know the 'They'll tell you to be afraid of me... that I don't look like those Presidents on the dollars'... and his 'oh, btw... did we mention? He's black!'

Not s single conservative ever used those statements, other than to say Obama said them.

Stewart used a southern growly voice and made jokes at the expense of perceived idiocy of shortening bills dramatically in page length to appease common voters. Amos & Andy, apparently, but I think it's a slight reach.

"My ilk"? I'm a centrist who leans conservative/libertarian. I don't see any of "my ilk" in this thread, do you? I pointed out the fallacy in liblady's argument, you know with things like facts and the truth. I don't live in a glass house, I call a spade a spade - always have, always will. Maybe before jumping to an invalid conclusion yet again, you could try applying things like context and common sense?

Is that really racist though? Or is that John Stewart doing what John Stewart normally does?

Living Memory is very subjective in that it only applies for as long as the individual making the statement has been...well, alive to bear witness to such accounts. I certainly wasn't around during the 30's, 40's, and 50's, and although I was born in the early 60's I have no "living memory" of that era. But we learn from history either through academic teachings or from reading. As such, I am very much away of the injustices brought upon Blacks and other minorities in this country by both southern White Conservatives AND their northern Blue-Dog Democrats.

Point is, racism is no more a strictly southern thang any more than free-love was indiginous to just those who lived in San Francisco during the 60's. After all, Woodstock was in New York, was it not? And not all lynchings took place in Alabama, Georgia or Mississippi. To be frank, racism exists wherever there is hate and total mistrust of someone who is different in appearance than you are. The only way to wipe it out if for YOU to be willing to learn about cultures outside your racial boundaries and extend a helping hand. Are you so willing?

oh **** epic mod showdown

Anyone who is not a liberal who points out that the left plays the race card constantly is "playing the race card"? The facts do not support your assertion liblady, not even remotely. The left "victimizes" the poor and minorities all the time. If it weren't for that, the DNC would no longer exist.

For nearly three years now, we've heard "you just hate Obama because he's black" from the left. Those of us who disagree with Obama don't "hate" him as a person (at least most of us), we just hate his policies, his ideology, his destructive and ridiculous policies (99% of them anyway) and it has absolutely nothing to do with his race. The only ones playing the race card are your cohorts in misguided and intellectual fraud (that would be the left). We've been saying for nearly three years now that it has nothing to do with his race and for 99% of us it doesn't. I won't dismiss that there are racists out there who hat him for his skin color, but that is a very small minority - so small that it's insignificant. And before you trot out the "Teabaggers are racists" tripe, save your time. That's been proven to be a blatant lie so many times now that it isn't worth the time or effort to prove that one wrong yet again.

Liberals pander to the "poor" and to minorities for votes. Instead of helping them, they are actually imprisoning them with a never-ending cycle of entitlements. It has everything to do with special interests and gaining votes (The right does it too, so don't think I'm giving them a free pass. The "religious right" is nothing short of a special interest group.). Welfare, food stamps, government health care and other entitlements are what's got us in the financial mess we are in. We don't need higher taxes to pay for this stuff, we need to stop supporting the millions who refuse to support themselves. There are those who need assistance (the blind, the disabled, etc...), but there are those who have been abusing the system for so long and refuse to take responsibility for their own lives. The left doesn't believe in personal responsibility and it's the weak-minded entitlement sheeple that keep hurting themselves by putting the liberals and progressives in office year after year.

I could go on and on, but I believe that even this tiny bit might be over your head.

We've actually heard the "black/brown skin" commentary far less than one would expect given the amount of times conservatives seem to feel it. I can understand the class stuff, far too many liberals can't see passed that before spouting it, but racism accusation comments happen less often than one would expect. Now, the "Tea Party=racism" commentary, yes, that was some major bullocks on behalf of many liberal commentators and a damn shame. But I haven't heard near enough "Conservatives dislike Obama because of the color of his skin" comments to take that observation of yours that seriously.

It wasn't racist, just people crying racism.

You should read more threads here at DP. I hear it at work, see it here, see it on MSNBC and other media outlets. That line has been used plenty.
