N Korean children begging, army starving

undercover reporting of what happens behind the curtain is evidence.

More importantly, the evidence is consistent with reports coming out of North Korea in the past year. Some news stories during that timeframe:

North Koreans fear the country is on the verge of a new famine - Times Online
Handling the Next North Korean Famine | Human Rights Watch
Asia Times Online :: Korea News and Korean Business and Economy, Pyongyang News
North Korea famine feared; China boosts border security
Local News | North Korea faces famine, aid groups say | Seattle Times Newspaper

The consistency of the evidence makes for a compelling argument that North Korea may either be heading into another famine or already in the midst of such a famine. Exact details will likely not be known for some time given the opaque nature of North Korea's communist regime and its adherence to "Juche" (self-reliance).

"He doesn't blindly accept a video as truth (though he didn't disagree either), he must think that North Korea is a paradise."

Solid logic!

I think it's more based on every single thing you post every day...but whatever you think, sir.

Videos and photos are terrible substitutes for a real analysis based on real statistics, especially when paired with terrible editorials like this.

There are plenty of other articles out there on the web, real testimony from defectors... I think the biggest sign this video is telling us the truth:

See the Korean Peninsula? See the BRIGHT area? That's South Korea. See the dark band with just a few lights? That's North Korea. Pyong-yang is lit up, and a few gulags have lights.

Keep up the work comrade, you make us all giggle with your apologist ways.

This night time satellite photo tells me all I need to know about North Korea and the people's problems there:

South Korea looks like any modern country anywhere in the world. North Korea could be a desert. The people and government are too poor to turn on any lights at night.

Sanctions never seem to work. If change is going to happen, the people must revolt.

There's the rub - the people are too weak, starving in fact, so they are more concerned with finding food for the next 24 hours and less concerned about the next 24 days. They cannot revolt, they just don't have the strength.

Damn V.... you beat me by 2 minutes........

I got lucky ;) It was the obvious answer to our local party supporter.

No one, not North Korea, China, Europe, or the United States, gives a toss about people who are starving there. Our governments save face by giving aid but the realpolitik of the situation is that human rights in a dictatorship are low priority to us. The only reason why we would care is if that dictatorship started expanding to other nations in the region, threatening our allies and our economic ties.

A nuclear NK is a direct threat to the security of South Korea and Japan, our allies. That is the only reason why we're involved or have ever been.

We're not involved because we know it wouldn't do any good. If we sent them money or food, it would immediately go into the pockets of the the two little fat guys that live like kings while their citizens starve to death.

Khayembii Communique...

Do you deny the communistic horrors in North Korea?

...

I couldn't help but discern that you're a communist.

Sanctions never seem to work. If change is going to happen, the people must revolt.

In North Korea, it would be virtually impossible.

Unless the army turned against the regime, the people themselves are simply incapable of fermenting a revolution, due to the tight constraints on society, lack of arms and if you wanna see a preview or what would happen to any revolting town... Check Syria for more details.

...

...what?

Government offices aren't typically hereditary in Communist States. Something went very, very wrong during the Korean civil war and Juche formed as a result.

Yep, it's a "charlie foxtrot".

The Korean Worker's Party isn't communist?

I did a google search by pegging in "communism" and "North Korea".

I only found a couple ten thousand hits.

Give it up. North Korea is communist.

...

...what?

North korea is communist in name only... What has actually taken form in north korea is not communist in nature in any way whatsoever, communism does NOT at all espouse the idea of a hereditary dictatorship or a cult of personality or pretty much anything that north Korean society has become, I've done a great deal research in this matter, if you want to learn anything about what north Korea actually is, to despise your cold war era red scare mentality misconceptions, id suggest you do the same.

Yeah and I looked up "wake" and "idiot" and got:

About 44,500,000 results (0.25 seconds)*

Give it up....

Juche is a thing shaped unto itself. It is a uniquely awful form of government.

NK started as a Marxist Lenin state, and has devolved, which is a trick considering it's start was so misguided, into a hybrid of Communism and Kim Jong self masturbationism. NK IS, in it's most basic form a communist nation, but a perverted form communism that has all the bad aspects, and not any of the good, what few there are to a communist state.

Nothing whatsoever "went wrong". This is how it has been from the start.

Obama isn't a lizard?

I did a google search by pegging in "Obama" and "Lizard".

I only found about 8 million results.

Wow, communism is everything they said it would be.

They aren't quite communist. It's a military dictatorship/cult of personality with some communist rhetoric thrown in to assist in the brainwashing of the masses.

North Korea is ****ed up and everyone knows that, but it's also true that a video is not necessarily proof that the whole country is as bad as the video might imply. That's all that was being said, but somehow that became "apologist." Ridiculous. Conservative absolutism rears its head yet again.

North Korea is a problem where every solution is a bad one, which is why the status quo has been held for so long. Of course, the status quo is also bad. It's a Mexican standoff except when shots are fired it's mostly innocent people who get hit.
