CHICAGO (CBS) — A verdict has been reached on all but two counts in the re-trial of deposed Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

The jury sent a note Monday morning revealing it has reached a verdict on 18 counts in the trial, and that jurors are hung on two other counts. It has not been revealed whether the verdict is guilty or not guilty, nor which specific 18 counts the jury has reached a verdict on.

U.S. District Judge James B. Zagel, who had been hearing a mortgage fraud case while jurors deliberated, asked prosecutors and the defense if they accepted the verdict. Both teams attorneys said they did.

Zagel said he would inform the jurors that they should fill out their official verdict form for the 18 counts on which they reached agreement and the official verdict would be read later Monday.

And the verdict will be....

Guilty on all 18 counts! That's my guess.

ONE not guilty. That's a whole lot of prison time.. Do most Chicago politicians end up in jail?? There seem to be a few...

If there is one thing I hate, it is corrupt politicians. Hang him high.

I'm curious as to if everyone else that was involved is going to go down, too. Or, is Blago going to take the fall for them?

The jury in Rod Blagojevich's corruption case finds the former Illinois governor guilty on 17 of the 20 counts against him.
This from CNN.

You're kidding, right?? Lots of big dogs involved here.. Maybe they will help him escape the country.

Did they take him in to custody?? I heard he will lose on appeal. Can't imagine they would allow him the chance to run. I feel sorry for the good people in IL outside of Chicago. Bunch of crooks running the state.

Count 1 alone (wire fraud) is a potential 20 years and a $250,000 fine.

He's facing some serious prison time and substantial punitive fines.

I hope the judge gives him the max on every guilty count.

Re: Blago convicted

He seems to have known it was going this way. His demeanor before heading to court and on the way in, was not his normal, smiling self. Maybe he never expected to be convicted?

Too bad Ken Lay died. He and Blago would have made great tennis partners out at Club Fed. LOL.

Speculation from the insiders is 8-10 years total. Blago is a typical wormy politician, but the not so funny thing is that he is little different than any/all the other politicians around us.

And the irony is, his shakedowns (of which he was guilty of) were for campaign contributions for re-election or in trying to hustle himself a cabinet/ambassador position. He wasn't scamming the big personal fortunes like like Madigan, Cullerton and the others who basically run the state legislature.

Ex-governor Blago broke the rules. Was prosecuted and properly convicted. But the real corruption in this state (Illinois) wasn't even mildly disturbed....

.

Which means, of course, he'll get like 6 months plus house arrest.

The past few governors are in jail on various charges. Chicago politics is very much like organized crime and I don't believe anyone can come through the Illinois political process without being corrupted in some way. Chicago has its tentacles in everything.

No. In Illinois our governors do serve their time. (Blago's predecessor governor George Ryan is about half way through his sentence i believe...)

Now that hes convicted can we please not see his face and listen to his mo uth running anymore on tv....

Which means, of course, he'll get like 6 months plus house arrest.

Nope. In the feds, you get 85%. If he is sentenced to 10 years he will do at least 8.5.

The only I can say he's guilty of with certainty, and that is that he has really stupid looking hair.

He should be a hit in prison.

I don't even like seeing this jerk on TV he gives me the creeps.

Good news, proving that some creeps get what is coming to them.

Can't wait to hear the sentence.

CHICAGO -- A jury convicted former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich on Monday of nearly all the corruption charges against him, including that he tried to sell or trade President Obama's old Senate seat.
