Most are verbal threats, beatings and mosque damagings. But they also stopped quite a few idiots who tried to set a mosque on fire. I'll try to find the report...

If they are arresting one a month it shows that there is a real problem in the Islamic community. And what about the victims of these preachers who are sitting in the mosques and believing the hate they're spewing? That could have long term negative consequences also.

As I see it, there is a double standard against Muslims. Bashing Muslims and holding them all responsible for the deeds of a few among them, in a generalizing broad-brush manner, has become mainstream. Islamophobia and blatant anti-Muslim hatred are the new antiSemitism. In -many countries, it has become perfectly acceptable. Polls show numbers between 30% and 50% of the native populations are bigoted Muslim-haters. Muslims are target of racial profiling and general suspicion in the "war on terror". And that's not even mentioning every day racism. If the same discrimination was common against Jews, people would rub their eyes, but for some reason, it's perfectly acceptable when Muslims are the target.

Europe is screwed, but the same thing is beginning to happen here. They've been flexing their muscles in Canada and the US as well. Remember the threats over South Park, and they won? Hollywood will not dare make any more movies about 'bad' Muslims either.

Muslims now have legal UN backing and anyone risking their lives to be critical of Islam will even be labeled a "racist". The Left, as in the past, is once again attacking Israel and the Jewish people also while defending Islam. The world is going mad once more, it seems.

It's a travesty that this even happened. Freedom of speech does not just apply to stuff that you like, and politically it just makes the Freedom Party stronger.

You do realize that the article deals with a minority within a minority, right? I don't understand what sort of point you think you're making here. The world is going mad because of a couple of idiots in a far-left irrelevant German party??

No, it's an accumulation of things, Arcana, and it's international. This is just one of them. We can see also what's happening to the Jews in Europe.

I have to agree. Hate speech laws are bull**** laws and should be done away with. Any form of "hate crime" is just more bull**** laws passed to expand power of government. Crime is crime. We already have designations for crime based on intent (lie 1st, 2nd, 3rd degree murder).

Has anyone been taken to court in Europe yet for criticizing Christians or Jews, or does there tend to be just one religion where criticism is discouraged, either through violence, intimidation, or through the courts? That religion forms the subject of this thread.

Just because people are against the policies of Israel, does not mean they are anit-Jewish...... Does that mean if I am against the policies of France that I am anti-Christian? Does it mean if I am against the policies of India then I am anti-Hindu? Of course not... but nice try...

I guess you haven't heard of the people in various European countries that have been charged, tried and stripped of their civic rights for the crime of Holocaust denial. Same hate speech laws, different target. Now how about that?

Denial of the Holocaust is ignorant but laws denying ignorant people to speak out is something up with which democracies must not put. But we are not talking Holocaust denial here, a law that was passed some time ago and one which would receive little sympathy today. Even acknowledging that Holocaust Remembrance Day exists is being protested,

But there seems little doubt that Jews are receiving a bad time in Europe and that the attacks on Israel is also an attack on Jews.
