Welcome to the new civility.

At a Thursday rally in New Jersey protesting Republican Gov. Chris Christie’s pension deal that would cut pensions and benefits to public workers, a union leader charged Christie with acting like a Nazi. And not any ordinary Nazi, but Adolf Hitler himself.

“Good afternoon brothers and sisters. Welcome to Nazi Germany,” Communications Workers of America District 1 Vice President Christopher Shelton is seen raving in a video posted on YouTube.

I live in New Jersey. I can honestly say a lot of people here, myself included, are fed up with these union heads.

Godwin's Law states that as an online argument grows longer and more heated, it becomes increasingly likely that somebody will bring up Adolf Hitler or the Nazis. When such an event occurs, the person guilty of invoking Godwin's Law has effectively forfieted the argument.

I believe this to be true, as I believe that the one who claims Racism is usually the Racist. It's a sorry tactic that follows, The Rules for Radicals which suggests that you accuse the other guy of what you are doing and stick to it because if you say it often enough eventually it will be believed.

Actually Hitler came up with that one first I think.

There should be like a law where if anybody makes a Nazi reference and the person/group they're talking about is not committing genocide, they become immediately open season for thrown fruit and/or pies.

Whats wrong? The union leader slave owner/dictator gonna miss out on several millions from his paycheck? Will he have to give up 5000 bucks a day for the titty bar lunch? No more 12 vacations a year?

The NJEA has a rabid television campaign against Christie - they must be spending millions on the age old "tie the Republican to big business" routine. The good part is, Christie isn't backing down and takes it right back to them, which is refreshing. The more the NJEA shows how bad they are for the rest of the non-teachers in NJ, the more Christie keeps his approval, which is still in the 40's right now, which is saying something in a blue state like NJ. This is why he's being prodded to run for President so often.

I saw Piers Morgan interview Christie and I was similarly impressed not only with him and his candor, but with his family.

This is pretty stupid. I don't even believe that they are restricting collective bargaining in NJ (that is totally wrong and should not be done), in my knowledge it's just making unions pay more.. which is long overdue.

If their cause was really all that great then I would think that they would not have to resort to blatant lies and false comparisons.

Just what are you conservatives against here... Are you against union workers public or private making a livable wage ?. Are you against the unions because they traditionally support democrats because republicans support the rich and corporations...Just what is it that you hate ?

Theres two sides to every story...of course the conservatives here will have none of the bad side of Chris Christie and what hes done and how hes gone about doing it....no different that the liberals not accepting the bad side of Obama...so Its really not worth the effort to write a long post outlining the dirty way christie did this...

Just keep in mind conservatives...using NJ as an example, there are over 500,000 state, city and munincipal public workers in NJ...with immediate families that "VOTE" and extended families that vote and friends that vote. What the teaparty has done in Ohio and NJ and Florida and other states may not go unanswered in the future.
The unions may have supported democrats all along, but not all the rank and file voted democrat and that I know. That will no longer be the case...take that to the bank.

Restricting union power does not have **** to do today with making a livable wage. Millions of people all over the country are not in unions and make livable wages.

I support the worker's ability to unionize. What I do not support is closed shops and a costly trial process just to fire a teacher.

While I am not a fan of Christie's, I can't stand the labeling of politicians or ideologies as Nazi. Because of Hitler, close to 100 million people died. That shouldn't be thrown around lightly. It makes me not listen to anything else the person has to say.
