BBC News - Wisconsin Supreme Court upholds anti-union bill


The Wisconsin Supreme Court has upheld a law stripping most public employees' collective bargaining rights.

In a 4-3 decision, the court ruled a lower court judge had improperly interfered in the legislative process when she overturned the law.

In May, Judge Maryann Sumi ruled that Republicans violated open meetings laws in their haste to pass the bill.

Republicans said the bill was needed to cut public spending. Democrats said it was an attack on pro-Democratic unions.

The Dems want to protect anti-free market closed-shop agreements while the GOP wants to spend taxpayer money on subsidies for its favorite businesses.

There are no winners--just taking money from one institution and dumping it into another.

What is clear is that the union leaders failed their members miserably. Politics is a game where the only meaningful goal is to WIN. If the union leaders had any muscle, they would've played dirty, i. e. starting a fund for women who had an affair w/Walker to come forward in exchange for a reward. It's well known that most all pols have extra-marital affairs yet the unions failed to exploit that to their advantage.

pshaw, that's nothing. 100% of the Jobs Obama promised us in the stimulus haven't shown up.

as for the defense of the bill - excellent. even better that Public Unions wasted so much on this and still lost. Here's hoping this leaves them drained in 2012.

Yep, you will probably get your wish. When corporate America takes final control you will be a slave and won't have to pay taxes,... just labor in exchange for a bowl of gruel.

When you have no government employees, you will have corporate government control, and whatever they wish on you any given day. They have managed to strip away any baragaining right, and by gosh you will work for soup & a bed roll if tey tell you to.

I don't get people like you, I really do not. You decry "corporate America" taking over if the Republicans get their way, yet a blind eye turn you to situation going on right now, with Obamacare waivers, GM and a host of other blatant collusion between Government and donor's to the "party in power". It's almost as if you are incapable of seeing the very evil you claim to be against. Is it willful ignorance or just garden variety ignorance?

when we have no government employees we will have anarchy and noone will control anything other than the territory you can cover with a weapon.

I've wondered this as well. It's as if they Really Don't Get that Keynesianism and Corporatism are nothing but giant experiments in Crony Capitalism and Corporate Goody Giveaways.

I get that the government exists to protect us from the private corporations, when they get out of control. But...who is going to protect us when the government gets out of control?

Or, is O'Bama going to be prez forever and he's real awesome and stuff and we don't have to worry about that?

My bargaining rights are in my feet. If a company doesn't treat me right, I take my talents elsewhere. Then again, I'm not the sort to show up and ride the clock till quitting time, either.

They will have NO JOBS. Corporations will enslave them for any value they choose to put on them. They can't eat a weapon. They will exchange it for food, or some value like a job. When government asked to buy guns, what happened?

How do you know what they propose? Maybe you could look at how corporations are operating in other countries? Try the corporate diamond mines. I have some links to corporate devastation & inhumanities if you don't, I am saying don't be niave.

Does "Control" happen in a day, or over a period of time?
