I actually think there is humor in this BUT, its not repectful at all. Not for a US President.

Eric Bolling, host of the Fox Business Network show "Follow the Money," apologized to viewers on Monday for using racist language during a segment that aired last week.
"We got a little fast and loose with the language," Bolling said, "and we know it's being interpreted as disrespectful, and for that I'm sorry."
In a segment that aired on Friday, Bolling referred to the White House as the "Hizzouse" and "Hizzy," and President Obama's guests--including Gabon President Ali Bongo--as "hoods."

The takeaway from this is don't say that **** unless you've got your black card.

It is important that everyone pay very closely look at the words and how they are use in this non-Apology, Apology.

The way it is worded Bolling is Apologizing the way it was interpreted as disrespectful, not for what he said. Read his statement again and you will see what I mean.

Yeah, basically he's blaming anyone who got upset for being upset. "I'm sorry you interpreted it that way."

What a *****! He didn't say anything to apologize for.

Wow. He didnt say anything that was wrong? If thats what you really think, the weight of your input in ANY thread has gone down significantly. Please stay out of the voting booth.

That's exactly what I think. For a Libertarian, you sure do oppose freedom of thought.

Whatever man. I oppose ignorance and poor judgement.

The same ignorance that see's racism in every comment one doesn't like. I couldn't agree more.

Well Fox News is a professional news organization. A group of journalists that cover and convey a story with no bias. So it is unprofe....... oh wait. youre RIGHT! Fox News is highly biased and basically just mentions bit of news along with their opinion. So he should NOT have appologized! My bad!

It's not respectful, and I can see why some might conclude that an apology is necessary (although, as has been pointed out, he didn't really apologize, which is just obnoxious). Having said that, I like living in a country where we don't have to put our leaders on a pedestal. To be clear, I am in no way suggesting that this is a first amendment issue (b/c no state involvement).

apdst is right. He didn't say anything wrong.

however he should've been prepared to get killed for saying what he did. (not literally).

So, it really doesn't have anything to do with what was said and more to do with the news org the reporter belongs to. I guess I already knew that.

Here is what President Reagan said when the President of Gabon father visited the White House. Would Bolling have made the same comments?

Ronald Reagan: Remarks Following Discussions With President El Hadj Omar Bongo of Gabon

Re: Fox Business host apologizes for using ‘language interpreted’ as racist: ‘We did

The Fox Business Network is mostly a professional run network (excellently ran) kinda like most local fox affiliates.

The only bias I see on fox, is fox news network, the cable channel. That being said, I think that an apology was warranted and just move on along with the excellent business news of Fox Business Network. It’s really not that big a deal.:2wave:

Re: Fox Business host apologizes for using ‘language interpreted’ as racist: ‘We did

I already addressed this subject in the media bias section of the forum, but will be glad to rewrite it here:

That was not an apology for "racist language" as the article you posted claims. It was an apology for being disrespectful towards the office of the president, by using hip-hop slang to describe a meeting between Obama and Ali Bongo at the White House.

The whole hip-hop spin came about because of the last controversial guest he invited to the White House, hip-hop artist and rapper Common, who was used in the promo that aired for that show. Common is a big fan of the Black Panthers and has recorded songs praising domestic terrorists and cop killers. He even named his daughter after convicted murderer Assata Shakur, who fled to Cuba to avoid prosecution... So as far as I'm concerned, he is nothing but a glorified street thug.

Bollin and FBN's use of the hip-hop slang was nothing more that an attempt to be funny based on Common's invite to the WH a few months ago and relate it to Bongo's visit last week. In my opinion it was distasteful and disrespectful toward the president, but certainly wasn't racist.

The truth is, the most interesting thing about that story from yahoo, is the fact the headline says one thing and the article itself says something totally different. The headline states that Bollin apologized for "language interpreted as racist", which accurately implies that some people see it that way, but Bollin himself does not... While the story itself, right in the first paragraph, states that Bollin apologized for "using racist language", which falsely implies to readers that Bollin admited he did in fact use racist language, and publically apologized for doing so.

That's the real story here folks... Not this latest episode of "Liberals pull the race card to falsely smear the right".

I was in and out of the News, Reporting and Radio Business for a very long time, and as i see it Fox News come closest to living up yo their motto of being fair and balanced, because they report on Republicans that are involved in wrong doing as much as they cover Democrats.

The rest of the media can't say that because doe example they never cover Obama's lies, and he's been caught in over 150 so far. Some also had limited coverage of the Weiner debacle

So you know, apdst is black. I don't like pointing that out because it doesn't define him, but in the case, I think it's entirely relevant.

This is just another example of a reference or joke a black person is allowed to make, but a white person isn't. I hate these kinds of double-standards.

I don't know how apdst keeps his sanity. To be such a clear thinker, and yet a target I'm sure, must be entirely maddening.
