Palin's official Alaska emails to be released

Re: Alaska governor's office to release Palin e-mails

So Obama will violate current law? This is what you believe?

That seems to be the case regarding the War Powers Act.

Perhaps it's best that the public can discover more of what's going on at the moment.

In Sarah Palin's case she is no longer governor so it shouldn't matter, unless this is a political vendetta. I don't know of any other former governors this has happened to so the possibility that this is all about dirty politics might exist. Do you think so?

But Barrack Obama is still in office and thus potentially a far greater risk than Sarah Palin ever was. All of his mail should be examined daily, just to be on the safe side.

Re: Alaska governor's office to release Palin e-mails

If you are asking the same scrutiny of President Obama, it's racist. Didn't you know this man?

BTW -- This is the first post in this thread to mention race. Good job playing the "reverse racism" card.

Re: Alaska governor's office to release Palin e-mails

It's not my fault you fail to address the arguments made by people here, and have to argue against some vague bloggers no one knows or cares about, except you.

REALLY... we're gonna go this route? Fine, I shall now proceed to stomp all up and over your self-professed ignorance.

Let's start with a no name, like... oh former President Jimmy Carter, I doubt you've ever heard of him:

Are Obama's critics racist? Jimmy Carter thinks so

Former President Jimmy Carter, who has a habit of stirring controversy, said this morning that "an overwhelming portion" of those opposing President Obama's policies are racist.

In an interview with NBC's Brian Williams, Carter lobbed a bomb into Washington politics, already seething with passions over healthcare, federal spending and whether a congressman named Wilson should apologize to the House for screaming "You lie!' to a president.
The source is that ultra right hyper conservative partisan rag, the La Times... comes with a video, obviously edited to smear the former President...

I figured letting you WATCH some videos of idiots making the claim I was mocking with sarcasm would clear this one up.

Consider yourself... educated on the issue at hand: the idiots that claim criticism of Obama is racist, and if you wish to continue making the claim I was pulling a strawman out using imaginary "no name bloggers no one cares about" well, be my guest.

I was using sarcasm to mock racist. I see your lean is off to the right of your reality, you should fix that.

Palin's e-mails were released in accordance with the law of the State of Alaska because of public requests. Unless that law says "Only Republicans because we hate them" it's a BS argument.

If you want to see Obama's after he leaves office, you and and a bunch of other Conservatives can get together with Fox News and file an FoI request. They will be released in accordance with Federal law.

Or you can just cry on the internet about "Everybody's out to get Sarah Palin. Waaaaaah," (Which is more likely to happen)

I know, if I disagree with Republicans, I must be an ultra-lefty.

How many times do we hear "Liberals playing the race card!" And who was the first person to play it in this thread? You don't have to be a Socialist to be able to read.

Re: Alaska governor's office to release Palin e-mails

They waited for Palin to leave office.

It was my understanding that the suit this release was based in dated from when Palin was still governor, from 2008 actually. Is this not true?

It is true. It stems from all the media circus around the VP nomination.

There is no such thing as "reverse racism". Only racism.

Yeah, that is what I thought. To me, while she was governor, she should not have had to release the emails, and the suit should have been promptly thrown out. obviously, in some way the law disagrees with me, though I have not actually looked at the case that was filed.

The interesting part is who made those "public requests", why, and which political party they belong too.

I don't believe "everybody's out to get Sarah Palin". Just who are you quoting here?

But it does seem clear, judging by the number of threads here on DP, as well as the incredible number of stories on her in the media, that she does create some tension among the goofy Leftists. And you know how they can lie and distort.

Re: Alaska governor's office to release Palin e-mails

This is so incredibly silly. I work with FOI requests on a semi-regular basis, I have sent out several regarding stories I have worked on (or am working on) with the paper I work for, and this FOI request is entirely legitimate.

It isn't a private email account, it is a public email for official business, meaning it is the public's right to view the emails. This sort of thing happens all the time, all you have to do is file the paperwork.

For all the people complaining about how "they made Sarah show us her emails but we don't get to see Obama's grades!" Your work related emails during your term as a public official =/= your official transcript. Once her transcripts are released, then you have a fair point.

On the topic at hand, I noticed that some 2,000 emails have been withheld due to them supposedly containing private information. However, I noticed that all of the emails people sent her complaining about what she was doing were included without any of the private information of that person being withheld. I found that reasonably odd.

Check out the headline on this winner.

"Palin closely guarded her public image, emails show"-LA Times

Sarah Palin email: Palin closely guarded her public image, emails show - latimes.com

That's absolutely shocking that someone who is a public official, celebrity, or person of note would dare become aware of the importance of their image. I bet this reporter shocked biographers and historians alike with this insight.

Oh, silly journalists.

Yeah, it's been nothing but a giant snoozefest.

LOL! No kidding! Honestly who is sitting around reading these things? I read an article that had a few of the e-mails and thought to myself who the hell has time to sit around and read this boring drivel. I feel bad for the folks having to pour over this crap and made sure it got online:(

IMO, they brought it on themselves. I bet they were all volunteering, hoping to break some big juicy story and blah. Nothing.

Historians. But in about 20-25 years.

Re: Alaska governor's office to release Palin e-mails

From what I have learned all the emails have shown is that Sarah Palin was pretty much all business a stickler for facts, and at one point she actually liked something Senator Obama said, and since I don't have the details it might have been one of his lies about where he really stands on the green issues.

This witch hunt is going to implode because the only smoking gun so far is talk about a tanning bed that never was.

If the Obamedia reports the truth they are going to be sorry they did this, because people are going to learn what I have found out in a short time just looking into the facts. That being she is an effective executive with a great ability to make the right decisions.

Let's be honest. Even historians won't care about this.

Unless there's something. Maybe it would be used as an example of electronic source material and its impact on the study of history. People write on historiography and research methods all the time.

Other than that, it's unlikely.

I can tell you that most Government Business is pretty mundane and not worthy of even a sentence in History, unless things go badly. or like in California where the Liberals are doing their level best to destroy everything like they have the school system that has gone from number 1 in the Nation 30 years ago, to number 49 barely beating Mississippi.

Really, I don't think that's interesting at all. Frankly, I expect the Parties to do this sort of thing. As much as you want to paint this as a "Liberal witch hunt," if there was something would you expect the Republicans to volunteer it? Of course not.

No idea. My point is that if you're that butthurt about this, you can go ahead and file a FOIA request. Get the Republican Party and Fox News to help. It's unlikely that anyone here is going to do that because it's easier to cry "Liberal witch hunt" on the internet.

I know most government business is not interesting to most people, but political scientists and historians write about mundane things that are not put out by David McCullough and his ilk.

This was not initiated as a Liberal witch hunt, but it has become one big time, you can dress it up any way you want, and it's not going to change who is behind the hunt today or why.

You bring up a good point one day all this crap could be considered History. Makes me wanna pick up a pen and send a letter to everyone I love. What the hell are we doing to this country with all these e-mails, tweets, etc. :(
