The Obama administration has intensified the American covert war in Yemen, ...

The extent of America’s war in Yemen has been among the Obama administration’s most closely guarded secrets, as officials worried that news of unilateral American operations

Secret War?
Unilateral Operation?

Where is Congress?
Where are all the outraged Libs?

Will Leftists now call Obama a war monger?

Why didn't The One We Have Been Waiting For get UN approval?

The extent of America’s war in Yemen has been among the Obama administration’s most closely guarded secrets, as officials worried that news of unilateral American operations could undermine Mr. Saleh’s tenuous grip on power. Mr. Saleh authorized American missions in Yemen in 2009, but placed limits on their scope and has said publicly that all military operations had been conducted by his own troops.

It's not a war, it's covert operations. The U.S. is not at war with Yemen, but Al Qaeda, which is why they are there and they have permission to be there.

I don't think the Lefties care what Obama does.

Maybe we could get him in trouble by talking him into posting some trash on Twitter like his own Weinergate.

It's not very damn covert is it

The Socialist Times uses the term "war" more than once if you didn't notice.

We are militarily engaged in the affairs of a foreign country.
Obama does not have Congressional or UN Approval.
Just using Obama's measuring stick.

Do you agree with this policy though? I mean you are critizing the liberals, I get where you are coming from on that, but do you have no critism for Obama for this kind of action?

IMO, the U.S. has significant interests involved in the fight against Al Qaeda. Those interests trump the peripheral ones involved in Libya's civil war. Hence, I have no objections to the covert operations that are ongoing in Yemen, so long as they remain focused on Al Qaeda.

Ahhh... Youz Guyz on the Left.

I just thought I would remind you of your posture and what spewed from the yap of the current occupier of the WH when he was running for President, and even when he was a non-voting Senator in the IL legislature. He has quite the record of statements, and so do you folks.

Did I hear someone scream, About Face!?

Yes... I think I did.

Just say'in.

You're grasping for straws.

Yes he did say it.

And yes it is contradictory and hypocritical.

But hey, that's what politicians do, no politician is immune to it, what was it that Cheney said in the 90's...

Talk about an about face.

Now that's not to, not draw attention to Obamas past statements, but the thing about when you make the attacks you do, is you make it seem like

A: its the first time its ever happened.

B: Obamas the only one who's ever done it.

But hey man, don't let me get in the way if your quest to iradicate the socialist scurge, which according to your warped logic is ANYONE who doesn't agree with your views.

I can't think of a better recruiting tool for Al-Qaeda than our drone strikes. When they can tell people, truthfully, that the United States is killing civilians in order to achieve its political goals, it's not difficult for them to radicalize people and turn more people toward anti-American violence. I mean, how would Americans react if China started bombing suburban neighborhoods (and killing civilians in the process) in order to eliminate a few Americans whom they deemed hostile to Chinese interests? Most of us probably wouldn't be too happy about it.

We would be better off without these drone strikes, in Yemen, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. Now don't get me wrong, I understand the motive behind it: a laudable desire to save lives from terrorists. But if we want to save lives, let's focus on things that we can actually control (e.g. our OWN military actions rather than those of terrorist groups) and on ways in which we can save lives that don't piss people off quite so much (e.g. fighting AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis).

It's covert operations that is publically exposed

It won't be the first time a country's covert operations has been exposed, yet nobody criticizes the country for carrying out covert operations without the approval of Congress, especially those concerned with terrorism
If war and covert operations are micromanaged by Congress, then not a dam*ed thing will be accomplished. Vietnam showed that

I do find it ironic. But 2 things on this.

A: He didn't ask for it.

B: He should have really... not accepted it. He might have gotten a lot of shtick for that, but it was the right thing for him to do.

I honestly think he was given it because perhaps they felt in a guy like Obama, if they gave him it, it would drive him to steer US policy towards less interventionist policy, given the rhetoric during his campaign. I really don't think it was because he was black btw.

Well, didn't they turn out to be incorrect.

I supports him. I think he should drop in half a million ground troops and use Yemen as a staging area to invade Saudi Arabia and get some real OIL. I mean there are Wahabis there, OBL was from there, women can't drive there. End of story. Nuke 'em. Major profits. Screw kharma. The Corporatocracy needs capital infusion and better market control.

Good for Obama. I seriously like this guy way more than I thought I would. I would seriously go golfing with the guy. But then again, I'd golf with Stalin if the course was nice enough.

why would people be outraged if nobody was supposed to know about it because it's secret?

An about face? Targeted airstrikes against terrorists with the permission of the "host" country and a full-scale ground invasion and occupation are not the same thing.

I think the fight against AQ would be covered under the AUMF of 2001.

So what you're saying is the Nobel Peace Prize is now given to people for what the committee thinks the person will do after receiving it, not because of anything they actually had done up to that point? :lamo

Talk about illegitimize the entire peace prize idea! LOL

Here is an actually "leftist" and socialist who is outraged by this. I believe this is just another way for US imperialism and the so called "sphere of influence". Obama you need to pull the reigns back, progressive people need to speak out against this in congress.

Not so secret anymore huh? It's actually not surprising to me if true, I expected Obama to intensify the war efforts. Nothing like a good ol' forever war to keep The People in line.
