FCC Agrees to Take 'Fairness Doctrine' Off the Books

Thats very different than state run though.

True, however, in the case of something like NPR or PBS, you could make the argument they're state run, since they get federal funds.

Absolutely not, they have no government or political appointees that affect programing.

"Liberal media" is certain conservatives trying to play the victim card.

yeah, Obama didn't get preferential treatment in 2008. that was a myth

so was the statistics that 85% of the journalists covering the 2000 race voted for Gore

I remember a really good article that came out after the 2008 election. It was by a journalist (not a right wing one, mind you) that admitted the coverage was not fair during the election. The bias is obvious, but less so, I guess, when you agree with it.

If I remember the story correctly, a journalist perceived that the coverage was not fair. In other words, it was his opinion.

And historians too most likely.

A journalist admittedly engaged in the unfair coverage himself is a pretty credible source, I'd think. It's not like it was Hannity.

Just to point out... the Fairness Doctrine was no longer being implemented after the 1970's, which directly lead to the rise of 24 hour cable entertainment/news. Fox news would literally not exist if the doctrine were still enforced.

it wouldn't survive current constitutional muster in the courts.

Which explains why libs support it. Thanks.

Why, we should have the government ENFORCE that news pay 50/50 attention to candidates. But yes, giving more obama more attention was a centrally planned conspiracy Im sure.

that is a rather silly response. the fact is, the media was in love with the empty suit Obama

its how he got by Hillary and McCain. but even you probably know that even if you might not have been old enough to have voted in the election at the time

As a retired Radio Reporter and Talk Show Host, I can tell you this is very welcome news and will insure that Conservative Talk Radio continues to bring you the truth you know in your heart you never get from Liberals and that id why Liberals fail in such large numbers.

I am truly happy that I will not have to listen to Conservative talk shows interrupted by empty headed dolts on the left.

I would just like the words - OPINION / EDITORIAL to appear at the bottom of the screen on appropriate shows on FOX and MSNBC.

I thought it was clear way back in the 50s that everyone knew that Talk Radio unless they are calling a program News and Information that it's Opinion.

I did both for years but but might have a point the lines were clear years before 1968 when Walter Cronkite expressed his opinion that the Vietnam was was lost on a news show, and the lines have been blurred more than a little by a lot of people since then.

Before that is was who, what, when, where and how. Just the facts mama.

If they were in love with Obama so much, why did they cover the Jeremiah Wright story so much? Actually, they love John McCain so much- be on the Sunday talk shows a zillion times...

You can show all this support it has?

Glenn Beck told him so. Then Limbaugh. Then Hannity. They can't all be wrong!

This is how Fox News works.
