The good thing about slow news travel, slow everything travel, was that Jefferson could hold tight for years before his political hitman takes a shot at him down the road.
 
What's even more hilarious about this is that when Glenn Beck sat on Bill O'reilly's show eating a hot dog and laughing while they discussed Congressman Weiner someone posted, here, about how horrid Beck was for that and how terrible of a person he was for making fun of Weiner (eventhough he's like that to everyone when he's on O'reilly's show).

Well - that's just damned funny if you ask me. Weiner really is a dick.

For this specific type of thing, whether a Congressman resigns or not is a personal matter. His constituents can call for his resignation, they can vote him out. There is a public embarrassment factor that will severely hurt his ability to be effective. I'm not sure that's a reason to resign, unless you can be replaced immediately.

But I don't think there was anything criminal here. It's not against the law to lie or to lie to reporters. What he did was still wrong and immoral.

Mark Foley resigned because his actions involved teenagers. And I think the FBI was involved.

Larry Craig resigned but he was charged with a crime. I don't believe Craig ever admitted to being homosexual.

You're not sure he should resign? His constituents are harmed by the very fact that as you say his ability to be effective is compromised. Which is why I also think that Giffords should step down.

Yes it was, and sleazy. Criminal? Well, that may be up to what he tells the FBI when they investigate. If he lies, and he is prone to do that, then it will be. Also, he may be in trouble for violating house rules. But that is a slap on the wrist.

Collage student in Seattle isn't far off. And the FBI is now involved in this matter as well.

Don't know or care, what is striking is that this waste of a person would stay in. We even have an example that not only closely mirrors this case, but from the same state as well, here:

Maybe with this comparison you can see why it is that Repubs have the notion that demo's are lying, no morals degenerates.

Craig said he was going to resign then quickly changed his mind and stubbornly finished his term. Even his wife got up with him at a news conference supporting him which is beyond me how she would be seen with him in public.

Of course he claims he was innocent and only picking up toilet paper off the floor of a public airport restroom. Which sounds legit as I know everytime I use a public restroom I feel the urge to crawl around on the floor picking up used toilet paper.

The one thing in common with all these perps is the feeling that they are above the law and bullet proof. Just amazing how their minds work.

You've speculated on a full on FBI investigation in which he lies to investigators.

You've decided what his constituents should think. And added a completely unrelated and despicable statement about Giffords. Do you know anything about how a congressional office is run? Giffords office has been functioning just fine.

No, the FBI is not investigating. Why would they?

So, you made up your own FBI investigation, and came to your own conclusions about how it would/should all play out.
