Supreme Court Passes on Case on Tuition Break for Illegals - FoxNews.com

A California law that gives illegal aliens a break on college tuition and resembles a controversial proposal before Congress will not get closer scrutiny by the Supreme Court.

The justices announced Monday they will not hear arguments in a case brought by thousands of California college students who pay out-of-state tuition rates. The students object to a state law allowing their classmates, who are illegal aliens, the conditional ability to pay in-state or "resident" rates.

**** American students, right? Who need them!

Just another example of benefits given out to illegal aliens and denied to legal residents and aliens who entered legally.

This doesn't make any sense. Illegal aliens are by definition not legal residents of their state. So why should they get instate tuition?

The CA law does not give illegal's the right to in state tutition, it gives their children that right.

Tim-

If the children crossed the border with their parents, they are illegal too. Does the law make a provision stating that the child had to be born here?

Because they "are in need of our help". And if you help them in college, why they'll be learned and decide to get citizenship. Who ya gonna vote for then mega? The guy giving you an education for cheap or the guys saying you shouldn't have?

I believe it does, but to be honest; I stopped caring about California many moons ago. I don't live there, and never will. Was just commenting. :)

Illegals can't vote, in most cases.

When was the last time California got something - anything - right?

I'd have to use the internet time machine and do research.... but I'm too lazy today to bother. Would you accept: "Not for a very very long time" as an answer?

Wow...this sucks really....Why in the world would they not rule on this...seems cut and dried to me

1948?
but I have to admit I really lack knowledge of things that are done in California.

I live in the Republik of Kalifornia. Their answer to any budget shortfall is to raise taxes. In my opinion, he Public Service Unions that got Jerry Brown elected literally run the state and the Legislature. What other state do Prison Guards gat paid from the time they close their car door in the parking lot till they get to their time clock. In Kalifornia the average cost per prisoner is almost $50,000 per year in Texas it's $28,000.
