Did they extort him, damages his rig or assaulting the worker into shutting down the oil rig or did they bring up a point about a worst case scenario and he shut it down?

Technically this makes Greenpeacers pirates and on the high seas whoever is in charge of that rig is the law, pirates should be dealt with accordingly with lethal force. Who the F do these people think they are and why do they think they are above international law.

I see these people as being environmentally ill. They are brainwashed to the point they go out and do the bidding of an organization that takes in millions of dollars and the relies volunteers to the work they don't need to as they sit in offices in plush chairs and do pretty much nothing all the while making over $100,000 a year for doing nothing. I would fight anything by doing nothing for that kind of money

Perhaps we should start raiding these offices in orange suits.

They are Liberals. Liberals are all about the law...until it doesn't work in their favor.

So the price of food stays to high for the overwhelming majority of the worlds population and a poor country is deprived of a source of income. Well done kids......

If the workers at the rig struck would you say the same thing?

You're not jumping to conclusions, sir! YOU SHOULD BE JUMPING TO CONCLUSIONS!

There doesn't seem to be any reports of damage to the rig. This is all just theatrics. Reckless theatrics, but theatrics nonetheless.

Greenpeace skanks are the same as pirates. If oil rigs are attacked they need to shoot them till they all sink.

Reading is fundamental:

Edinburgh-based Cairn Energy said drilling was suspended at its Leiv Eiriksson rig off the coast of Greenland after 18 Greenpeace protesters breached a restricted area. The activists launched from the Greenpeace ship Esperanza in five inflatable speedboats from outside a 500m exclusion zone set up by Danish authorities.

They were forced to stop for safety reasons.

In a statement, the company said: "Cairn confirms that members of Greenpeace have boarded the semi-submersible drilling vessel, the Leiv Eiriksson, owned by Ocean Rig. The protesters have breached the safety exclusion zone and entered a restricted area on the rig. In accordance with the strict health and safety practices employed in this drilling programme and in order to ensure safe operating conditions, drilling has been suspended.

The entire population of China could look like chimney sweeps, and you wouldn't see a single Sierra Club protest over there.

I wonder how much fuel those greenpeace vessels use...

I believe that for safety and security sake anytime one of those groups gets within 100 yards in international waters their vessel should be sunk.

I thought they were using sails or oars. ;)

Possibly but where are you going with this? Im not arguing that the oil should keep coming at any cost. However those best placed to decide whether the potential economic benefits outweigh the economic risk are the Greenlanders themselves and they have made their decision.

It's an absurd argument for a socialist to make. It's right out of the neoclassical handbook (i.e. "[insert whatever pro-worker stuff here] increases costs/lowers productivity and if we implement it then x catastrophic thing will happen!"). You as a socialist should know that high food prices are not caused by something like this. Also, it's absolutely ridiculous for a so-called socialist to be even worrying about national income (unless of course you're a "national socialist") or painting something as vague as a "country" as a victim.

However those best placed to decide whether the potential economic benefits outweigh the economic risk are the Greenlanders themselves and they have made their decision.

What does "the Greenlanders themselves" mean? Are you a Maoist now or something? Because for a socialist, there is no such thing as "the Greenlanders themselves". Do you mean the poor and exploited Greenlanders? The politicians that represent the general interests of capital? The Greenlander businessmen at the Greenland offices of Cairn Energy? It's a completely meaningless nationalistic term.

No we raid their offices with warrants wearing black suits with Kevlar helmets, then use what we find to put the Environmentally ill in orange jumpsuits.

Then go out make decisions that are logical and would make a difference without all the BS and fear mongering about fake crap like us being the ones who are causing the Sun heat up the Earth.

What a load.

Then there is all the BS about how oil spills are going to kill all life on Earth. Has anyone ever thought about how much oil was released into the Oceans in WW-II.

The U-boats alone sunk 2,828 Merchant ships then add in the War ships from the US, the UK, the Germans and others that went down?

Guess what we're still here. The earth cleans itself. It takes time but it does a great job.

the Earth will be here long after we are all dead and gone.
