I have been wanting to read this for a while now. I have travelled and construction in Europe in the early times interests me. The book has gotten great reviews, but it rivals the Bible in size. I have begun and haven’t been ‘grabbed’ quite yet. Those who have read it, is it worth the slog?

haven't read that one yet, but i read the Century Trilogy, and i really enjoyed it.

Most definetly worth a read. There is also a sequel A World without End. Also a very good book but I think I prefered the first one.
He goes into soem detail about medieval life, politics, religion, economy etc but not in a dry boring fashion.

You can also try his century seeries. It follows several families, American, English, German and Russian for almost a century (1900s-190s). They are rather large tomes as well

Actually I have yet to read anything from Ken Follet that I didnt thoroughly enjoy.

Haven't read the book but the TV miniseries was quite good.
