Fox News runs digitally altered images in coverage of Seattle’s protests, Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone | The Seattle Times

Fox News published digitally altered and misleading photos on stories about Seattle’s Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ) in what photojournalism experts called a clear violation of ethical standards for news organizations. As part of a package of stories Friday about the zone, where demonstrators have taken over several city blocks on Capitol Hill after Seattle police abandoned the East Precinct, Fox’s website for much of the day featured a photo of a man standing with a military-style rifle in front of what appeared to be a smashed retail storefront.

The image was actually a mashup of photos from different days, taken by different photographers — it was done by splicing a Getty Images photo of an armed man, who had been at the protest zone June 10, with other images from May 30 of smashed windows in downtown Seattle. Another altered image combined the gunman photo with yet another image, making it appear as though he was standing in front of a sign declaring “You are now entering Free Cap Hill.”

The following image was taken on May 30, in St. Paul, Minnesota, but Fox News used it in their headline/banner image for the article about Seattle.

How it is Fox News can get away with being called a “news” outlet is beyond me.

They’re basically equal to Gatway Pundit and Hot Air these days.

I think by now, all news outlets have outed themselves as money driven first, reporting facts a distant second. That's why I consider the media an American political party.

More lies for the cultist rubes to eat up.

Fox's audience consists of racist dullards, go figure...

CBS provided video of manufactured COVID-19 testing lines and showed Italy hospital footage while talking about New York City hospitals. I never could determine who increased COVID-19 testing lines; the testing facility management blamed CBS and CBS blamed the testing facility management.

CBS News Airs Footage Of Italian Hospital While Reporting On New York’s Coronavirus Crisis | AllSides

All of which is beside the point I want to make: I do not trust any media source as the sole provider of information. I prefer to watch and read from multiple sources and determine what the facts are based on how reports align and overlap. All media sources are subject to error and bias, but I feel Fox News, CNN, and MSNBC are among the worst of my available TV stations.

This is very interesting..how you give not One example of Fox News messing up, yet name them and lump them with those sources that Did mess up

C how these libs deceive???

Happens all the time...u have to pay attention

There is no doubt about it either. They were caught red handed.

They should have made the fake gunman a racial minority to really get the foxies all hot and bothered. You sorta dropped the ball on that one, fox.

not only does Fox have a bunch of massive liars, they are genius in going after anyone that points out that they're a bunch of massive liars by claiming that all those other people are massive liars.

Roger Ailes (and Rush Limbaugh) have almost killed this great nation.

I'm glad rubbish like Fox News isn't allowed in the UK as it isn't a news service.
News should be impartial and Fox is about as impartial as a raving sports fan is about their team. We also don't allow opinion hosts such as Hannity or Carlson who are somehow on a so called News network and yet aren't journalists and just spout bollocks without any pushback.

Yes UK news channels are dull and would get likely bugger all viewers in the US but it's the news not dancing with the stars and the news should not care about ratings.
Even Sky news which is owned by the same company as Fox news is completely different and is just news with zero opinion and proper balance.

???

Hannity and Carlson are not impartial - that's not their job lol - they are Prime Time opinion show hosts

The "impartial" Fox anchors are on during the daytime - Bret Bauer, Chris Wallace, Shannon Bream, etc.

What American news network do you have broadcast in England which is NOT impartial, at any time of the day?

My point is Hannity, Carlson or Fox and Friends shouldn't be on a news channel.
We used to get Fox news but it got dropped by Sky.
We get CNN and CNBC but they aren't very popular as most here watch BBC or Sky News.

I think you're misunderstanding how American Cable News is set up...

All three major Cable News Channels (Fox, MSNBC, CNN) have opinion programming during Prime Time - no one has straight news

Don Lemon and Anderson Cooper are great journalists, but they are both far-left, especially Lemon

And MSNBC Prime Time has Rachel Maddow, Chris Hayes, Lawrence O'Donnell - they're all far-left opinion hosts

Get rid of all opinion hosts whatever political side they sit on from news channels.
The news should be the news and nothing more. I have no idea what political leaning the people on BBC news have as they just report the news and again this may not be exciting but it's the news.
It's the way it works in the UK and I think it works well. I have no problem with Hannity or Carlson having a show on other networks just not news networks.

I don't think there's enough money in having a straight cable news channel - even when I click on Apple News on my Phone nearly all I get is left-wing news

The closest you get to straight news is Chris Wallace on Fox and Brian Williams on MSNBC, and both of them still have political slants

The second photo, where part of the gunman's left arm is cropped off is ****ing hilarious!

You have been blocked

And now in desperation they run a quote from reddit that turns out to be a word for word script from Monty Python as proof that the Capitol Hill protesters are out of control.

Just think, this is the news organization that many of you live by.

The U.S. didn't used to have this problem, either.

Before Ronald Reagan did away with it, the FCC had regulations collectively known as "The Fairness Doctrine" which required broadcast stations to allow diverse points of view on politically charged issues and operate "in the public interest."

With it gone, it gave rise to the likes of Rush Limbaugh and FOX News and MSNBC. They all have pundits who are free to spew whatever nonsense they like without fear of reprisal and without any accountability whatsoever.

Does someone have a link to the Fox article that uses this photo?

(1) A mob of protestors broke through a gate and rushed onto private property. That's absolutely provocation.

(2) Being drastically outnumbered on your own property by a mob with zero respect for the rule of law or your rights is...um...precisely the time for an AR-15. https://twitter.com/KristenClarkeJD/status/1277431713338216450

Just be honest for once and just say Fox doesn't present news that suits your partsin left wing viewpoint.
