We all know the news media does not care enough about accuracy to include the full context and reasons for what happened in their reporting. One example is Joe Biden repeatedly being rumored to have an "obvious cognitive decline" based on nothing but gaffes in his speeches on the campaign trail. While this suspicion is totally understandable, it is only an assumption people who never knew him make, so the claims are unjustified. An article in Washington Monthly explains why.

We've all watched Biden stumble with words during debates and extemporaneous speeches. So as people committed to examining facts and evidence, it is important to gather what we know about this particular attack and not simply dismiss it because of the sources from which it is emanating.

The first thing that is important to do is to define the terms. Here is how the Mayo Clinic defines cognitive impairment.

Biden's biggest problem is that he is outclassed. He's a high school player in the NFL.

Yes, I said Trump has more class. That was intentional.

You obviously just want to hijack the thread in the worst way possible. It is only about one topic. If you have nothing to say about the article, you have no reason to post here.

Biden's "problems" go well beyond his word choices. He has stated that China is not a threat, he was arrested (and charged with ???) in South Africa and that he talked to the Parkland school shooting victims while Vice President. None of those can be explained as being the result of a stutter or making an "alternate word choice". Biden is prone to making up all manner of "stories" to make himself appear to have been some historical figure of great importance (a civil rights pioneer?), while the truth is vastly different.

trump is an ass with no class. You’ve never heard anyone accuse this ass of having class.

I did the the article fast. That being said it seems to talk about mild problems that are related to age. Saying that I acknowledge I am not as "sharp" as I was 20 years ago.

Is it reasonable to expect the same from a 77 year old Biden. So without comparing him to Trump, just talking to what you posited I disagree that he is "fine". In addition whatever lapses he has now can only be expected to worsen over the next 4 years.

All that being said, it seems that democrats have a backup in waiting with Cuomo stepping up.

I hope you understood the article does not mean Joe Biden never forgets anything. Biden could have normal age-related memory decline; none of his fans will deny that. The article explains it is wrong to blame all of them on "cognitive decline" and that Biden actually remembers a lot more than people think he does. I believed the rumor about memory loss before watching the last three debates and reading fact checkers. Now I think people should listen to how Biden speaks, not just what he says, because he stuttered a lot during the debates.

This seems to fit in that "obvious cognitive decline", but if you don't believe what your lying eyes witness, one could understand your reasons to doubt it's happening.

What’s Up Joe? Biden Finishes Speech, Stares Ahead Until Wife Jill Comes to the Rescue

The fact remains that Biden is nowhere near as "sharp" as he used to be and, other than being VP under Obama, has had no executive experience.

If it's Biden vs a shouting carrot, it's Biden.

Republicans are the last to be talking about any type of experience in the era of Trump

All I need to see is the first two words on the page: RedState. Every article on that website is intentionally pro-Republican or anti-Democrat. They omit text that provides the contaxt of a story just to make it favor their agendas.

See if you can find an article from a liberal website that has exactly the same information. I would be happy to read that.

Trump is often a jerk for sure, but he does not lack executive experience. Trying to use Trump is bad as reason to say that Biden (as opposed to many other demorats) would make the best POTUS is ridiculous. If the best you can say about Biden is that he would (might?) be better than Trump then you have a very weak argument.

He was the Wilmington, Delaware mayor for two years before being elected to the U.S. Senate at age 29 in 1972.

Biden isn't my first choice, but he's miles better than Trump. You guys already tried the "business man president" with Dubya, and it was a failure, so why pick an even worse business man to runs things now is beyond me.

Biden has vastly more political experience than a novice like Trump, who should have stuck to Reality T.V. Shows instead of involving himself in politics. Plus let's be realistic any way, Biden if he wins likely would only complete one term any way, and his VP would be the one running in 2024

In November.....that is the only argument that matters

It's odd that Wikipedia says something else:

He served on the County Council from 1970 to 1972 while continuing his private law practice. Biden represented the 4th district on the county council.

Ha.... didn't watch the video did you, or do you think what you watched was a lie and didn't happen? It doesn't have anything to do with RedState as the video was from the Biden Victory speech after the primary election. It has nothing to do with what he talked about 2 minutes or 2 hours before the frozen, deer in the headlights look.

Do you think he was stuttering or was he just lost as to what to do now. Jill to the rescue.

My memory is not perfect either. Yes, I did read he was on the City Council.

Stuttering is not just repeating sounds and syllables. Stutterers also can have speech "bocks" - moments htey want to say something but can't or know they are going to stutter and prevent it by not talking.

I have no idea what video you are talking about. There is only a still picture on that page.

There is a first time for everything. However, saying Trump has no class is simply mistaken.
