So we had the media jumping on an unsubstantiated story (shocking in these times, I know) that the Trump admin refused thousands of COVID-19 test kits from the World Health Organization.

The reality is, is that didn't happen, and we even have one of the "premier" fact checker as a debunking source. However, we know they are bias trash heaps of garbage so they can't even report it straight, and give it a "Mixture" instead of a straight up "False". No, it wasn't a mixture at all. I've run into this type of trash fact checking man times with Snopes. I really need to start documenting it.

Did US 'Refuse' COVID-19 Testing Kits from the World Health Organization?

The WHO neither offered test kits nor did the Trump admin refuse them.

Fact Check: False

Show us the part where the US asked WHO to provide the US with kits until we could manufacture our own.

Part Deaux: Show us where, following the US request for WHO to provide us with kits, WHO denied the US request.

It must be biased. It isn't the Trump approved line.

Yeah...it can't just be ****ing stupid because the claim was false, by their own words. Reading is hard for some.

That's not the claim, nor the reporting. Care to actually read and try again? I'm guessing it's going to be a "no". Any other questions or claims pulled directly out of your ass for me to have to not have to debunk?

Where was that question being evaluated in the SNOPES report?

The question was "The US 'refused' COVID-19 diagnostic test kits offered by the WHO."

1. If they were not offered, there was no refusal of an offer.

2. The "Fact Check" then twists the point to create a "mixed" response by asserting the fact there was no offer meant there was no option to refuse. THAT is the problem with the fact check, as pointed out by the OP.

3. Asking "show us where the US 'requested' such kits" is a b/s deflection. You are trying to make an issue that was not evaluated. Nor is it necessarily valid when we don't know that such WHO test kits existed, or if so, were effective at determining who was infected. IMO from all early reports, the WHO was carrying water for the Chinese government, accepting the lies China was spewing which allowed the spread.

How about just accepting that the real fault lies with the Chinese government. They knew about the virus as early as November 2019, but not only tried to HIDE it, failed to take proper actions to quarantine it immediately.

Had they done either, we would most likely not be facing the situation we are in now.

The WHO only offered a limited number of kits to countries that did not have the capability of developing their own. What the CDC did was not accept the WHO recommended model of kit that was developed by a German lab, instead meaning to develop their own model, which is usual and normal in the past. However, this is not a usual and normal virus in it's quick and deadly spread. The WHO recommended model was proven to be immediately ready in practice and numbers. The failure was in not thinking through that it was a much safer decision, a much more assured outcome, to have gone with the WHO model while going ahead and developing our own model on a parallel track. THAT was a mistake. As a result, Italy, for instance, a country that admittedly responded late to the virus, is 1/5th the size of the US but was able to test over 60,000 people by the time the US had only tested over 2,000. And, to this day, the US is not testing the tens of thousands we've been told so by the admin.

Snopes isn't as respected as they once were, and they've fallen quite a bit in the Alexa rankings. Facebook dropped them as a credible fact checking source last year, which cost Snopes a major source of funding. Liberals barely even use the site anymore, & Snopes used to be their go-to website whenever they debated conservatives. Even they've abandoned the site.

Nope. We never had kits from WHO. The OP attempts to place the blame on WHO for never offering. I have not argued that WHO never asked. Did the US request kits from WHO? Did WHO deny the request?

The US is woefully behind in testing. As a result, the virus has spread rapidly. That is a given. Soon, probably this weekend, we will pass Germany and Spain and become number three behind Italy and China as the most infected nation on the planet.

Could we have begun testing long before now if had had kits from WHO? Yes, I believe we could have. The fact is the US did not receive kits from WHO. "Well, we would have but they didn't ask us" is inexcusable horse ****.

And the fault of the Obama administration for not seeing this coming and preparing for the future, almost as if Obama worked against the new incoming administration out of spite!

BTW, how could anyone have test kits for a virus that didn’t exist yet? If anything, the only ones who had a head start was China because they “bred” the damn thing.

Obama had nothing to do with this more than three years ago.

I will take Snopes over any rightwing alt facts.

CDC funding has steadily increased since Trump took office according to members of his admin.

Asked about the criticism at a House budget hearing Wednesday, Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar said that, “during the president’s tenure, every part of our preparedness and infectious disease program activity has been enhanced and expanded.”

Azar went on the say the president’s budget proposals are just the jumping-off point for budget negotiations.

The very first paragraph from the OP's Link: "As a COVID-19 coronavirus disease pandemic spread throughout the world in early 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) urged countries to “test, test, test” for the virus in order to stop it from spreading. WHO officials said the global health organization had provided 1.5 million tests to 120 countries...."

The US didn't request any test kits at all. Instead, it wasted time manufacturing its own, which was flawed and ineffective. It's not the World Health Organization's job to place personal phone calls asking the leader of any country to "pretty please take some of our test kits". FFS.

"Former Vice President Joe Biden falsely claimed that the WHO “offered the testing kits that they have available” but “we refused them.” The U.S. did not actively turn down testing kits from the WHO, although it could have requested them."

What are you talking about?

Nothing like that was indicated by the OP.

It specifically pointed out how SNOPES was not providing a valid, but rather a biased fact check.

YOU keep adding things to the OP that simply were not mentioned, in order to deflect, and you just did it again with this post I am responding to. :doh

Your concerns may or may not be valid in some other context, but NOT in this discussion. That's exactly what deflection is, and your responses keeps doing this.

Nope, the OP never attempted to blame the WHO at all. The OP only stated that the claim that the Trump admin rejected kits offered by the WHO was false, Snopes backed it up as being false, but couldn't bring themselves to just say it.

Btw...That we aren't ahead of Germany, Spain, Italy, ect. is pretty damn good since their populations are 83, 47, and 60 million, respectively. The population of the U.S. is 327 million.

Agreed with Obama having nothing to do with it. However, Snopes also still sucks.

You're making up a claim and premise that has nothing to do with the OP. That's what's called "dishonesty".

Anyone who says Snopes is not reputable is either uninformed or biased.

Right you are Di. Isn't it interesting that Trump places blame on US governors when asked why the federal government isn't helping to locate and allocate critically needed equipment from respirators to ventilators by saying, "That's their job, not ours."

An exception means that Snopes is not perfect. Find a thousand and I will listen.

Factcheck.org mentioned above in a post I authored proved Snopes was being wishy washy, (lies by omission?) when fact checking.
Trump admin did not refuse tests. They could have said this but they didn't and that's what the O/P is about.

An exception means that Snopes is not perfect. Find a thousand and I will listen.

An exception that is literally patently stupid? That's just one. Like I said, I should keep track of them all.
