What Makes Chris Matthews' Latest Comments So Sickening

Does Chris Matthews think before he goes on these tirades and embarrasses himself in front of the nation? Is he even aware Sanders is Jewish and many of his relatives were killed in concentration camps?

I just don't understand why you don't approve of Matthews comment? I mean he says stupid stuff all the time that you dems support. Oh, yeah but those are ok if it is about a Republican.

Which Dems are you talking about? Bernie's supporters are notorious for hating on the corporate media. Just ask any of the talking heads/pundits about the hate mail they get.

What did he say that you find troubling, Geoist? He was making an analogy to the French being overwhelmed with combined and coordinated air and armored tactics of the Germans, i.e. "Blitzkrieg," which cut the French Army to pieces. The French had trained to re-fight another First World War. The Germans had learned different lessons, and were able to defeat a numerically superior opponent with newly-developed superior combined arms tactics. He was saying that the Democratic Party establishment and its favored candidates, like the French, were overwhelmed and realized too late that they had lost the war. He was not calling Bernie Sanders a Nazi, or his followers Nazis.

Matthews is too dense to realize it was the 'socialist' programs in Western Europe that staved off Stalinism. If it were the 1930s, Matthews would've opposed Social Security as a communist ploy.

The French had trained to fight yesterday's war.
Have you seen his other comments about Bernie's primary wins on MSNBC? The guy is hysterical over it. He talked about Central Park shooting squads just last week. When confronted by Chris Hayes with, 'of course Bernie doesn't support that type of socialism' he responded with, 'how are you so sure?' The guy is using the Nazis and Soviets to scare the Democratic Base that watches MSNBC. It is disingenuous and very inappropriate in context.

Matthews apologized for his comments, but I think it is interesting that his gut instinct when he hears about socialism or big public programs is to reference the Nazis or some kind of red scare garbage. This is the kind of thing that will get cranked up to 11 if Bernie wins the nomination so everyone should be ready.

I first saw this live on TV when he said it and I took it exactly as you are summarizing it here. Good job.

One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.... John Rogers

Unaware of the apology from last night. I give Matthews credit for stepping up and apologizing to Bernie.

Maybe now they can tone down the rhetoric? I really don't mind criticizing Sanders (heck, I've done it myself) but they should stick to the issues, not hyperbolic analogies and misguided labeling.
