Media heads getting ready to explode over Weinstein trial jury results

Yep, maybe he simply guessed what that "more information" was or has another (unnamed) source.

It was not enough to go all pre-emptive outrage based on what some guy on TV said he thought might happen, he had to make **** up to support that outrage. Kinda sad example of what political discussion in the US has become.

Beat the rush, get that outrage out before the result. Why wait for facts or actually anything to cry about happens?

Me, I'm just laughing. Rumors in NYC courts are more common than rumors in the NY Post. Court officers and lawyers love gossip.

This time, the problem, the rumors smack of a likely trial outcome. No one is questioning Harvey behaved like a pig, endemic in the industry. Nor unusual for men with economic power. But rape of women who threw themselves at him for industry favor, who maintained subsequent relationships with him? Why bother with force when so many were willing?

There is no shortage of young, beautiful women posing with everything exposed, and more posting amateur porn. Yet some actress in need of publicity whines her phone was hacked when nude photos of herself appear on porn sites. How did that happen??? :lamo

Of course there is doubt. So what? Is the issue at hand Harvey, or societal lynching, the latter so popular these days?

Prosecutors "help" complainants remember. Defense attorneys put those new memories in perspective. Prosecutors desire expanded political careers, and if not convictions to show the private sector how good they are at practicing law. The DA's offices, the state prosecuting attorney offices, are apprenticeships for most of those passing through. And those who remain as professional prosecutors do so because they were politically passed over and couldn't make rain in the private sector. It is not about justice, it is about job security. This ain't TV, it is real life.

The outrage will be very entertaining, until the next scandal of the week usurps the headlines.

No, no, you are evading the real problem, which was you made **** up, and got caught. All the justify your outrage over something that has not, and might no happen.

You would think you could find some evidence of them on the internets, but no joy. It is almost as if you made the **** up to cover for getting caught in a lie...

Never purported to be more than a rumor, yet it brought out the fascists on full tilt. They so like windmills.

This morning...

For future reference, this is where you dropped the ball.

Today is President's Day. The court was closed.

The rest of it - you could have had me going, if it wasn't for the fact that I've both served as a juror in that courthouse, and worked there as an intern. And I'm in law school.

There are oral by the judge's law secretary, pre-deliberation polls, ask the court officers.

:looks for the word "rumor":

This morning. Common custom in the Manhattan and Brooklyn City and State courts for notorious cases. The purpose, allegedly, for flushing bought (or un-bought) jurors. Dates back to the 1890's. A democratic party reform instituted by Tammany Hall. Today, accomplished with a phone call by the judge's law secretary, no court presence required. Extra court communications. :)

Now whether or not to take them seriously, or adjust thinking for rumor, you get to make your own decisions.

:looks for the word "rumor":

:sees that OFG wrote "Today, accomplished with a phone call by the judge's law secretary, no court presence required.":

You said something false. You wanted people to believe it. Whether you knew it was false or knew that you didn't know whether it was true is irrelevant. Putting the word "rumor" somewhere in the OP isn't a license to lie.

Ask yourself why you do this.

Oh, the people who caught you lying are "fascists" now?

:lamo

Good lord...

Quite an accusation. However I fabricated nothing, merely passed on rumor. Accept rumor for what it is, live with it. Or live with fascism.

I'll feel no outrage over Harvey's fate, whatever occurs. Just a good source of more bad jokes. My blinders have been off for many decades when it come to the state of justice in America. Yeah, I read The Oxbow Incident.

Sure you didn't...

I will repeat one of the best pieces of advice I give posters: don't exaggerate, don't lie, don't use hysterics. You will get called on them and your point will be lost.

I ain't your dude. This conversation between you and I ended with your insult.

I'm not the one who confused the outcome of an acquittal vs. a mistrial, did I? ;)

Now would you like to try your response to me again?

Your brilliance is underwhelming. The criminal courts of NYC are open everyday, including New Year's and Christmas, albeit with skeleton staffing, and it includes the State Supreme in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens. For decades it had been the Long Island City Courthouse alone (now an annex to the State Supreme in Queens), but the loss of an appeal for timely adjudication expanded the actual court usage, a case you may get to study as you progress through law school. Regardless you missed a salient point "Today, accomplished with a phone call by the judge's law secretary, no court presence required. Extra court communications. :)"

I certainly hope your internship and presence in law school does your law practice literacy more justice. Having been a juror is of no consequence, whatsoever. Thanks for the chuckle.

Yeah, you're blown. Better just to stop digging.

Where is the exaggeration, the lie, the hysterics (other than my laughter) in passing along a well labeled rumor?

What don't you understand about this conversation between you and I is over?

There is no confusion, with either outcome, Harvey walks.

Oh look, it's the old, "I can't defend what I have to say, so I'm going to complain" game.

No. That's not how this works. Own your words...if you can.

Major sources at the State Supreme Court House in Manhattan have rumored the jury has deadlocked at 8 for acquittal. The judge has urged the jury to reconvene, work out their differences to avoid a mistrial. Acquittal or mistrial, Harvey Weinstein walks. Trial by media fails, along with the Me Too movement. Expect accusations of a fix, cowardice, and so forth in the media, echoed by protests. But Harvey walks away with his walker, free. Dumps the California case as expected low hanging fruit, right in the trash. He won't even need to make a personal appearance in the California courts.

Now are you ready to fix your obvious confusion about acquittals vs. mistrials, or are you going to double-down on it?

There was a guy from Law & Crime, a Dan Abrams production
Law & Crime - Law and Crime News
was a guest on FOX business, Jesse Weber of Law & Crime, has been following this case and has attended almost all the hearing. I found the video at FOX Business.
Harvey Weinstein rape case expected to end in acquittal, hung jury: Analyst | Fox Business
He believes that the prosecution made a very good case but so did the defense and it is his belief that this will either end in a hung jury or an acquittal. This could be where the rumor started. The fact that the article posted at FOX also states that the AP contributed to the article says it could have been spread to several places.

One reason could be that he isn't guilty. Anyone think of that?

He was pronounced guilty long ago, and now the courts need to demonstrate that they understand this and they must deliver. If they do not then they have failed and they must be fixed.

This is how the Regressive Left thinks.

BARF

I dont know what the verdict will be but I do know that the Elites of this country will only accept guilty. Anything else will be attacked, anyone who fails to sing the proper #METOO bromides will be punished for their lack of solidarity with the cause.

It is difficult to get a rape conviction when both complainants maintained relationships, long after the supposed rapes, with the accused. One even claiming, in writing, he gave her the best orgasms of her life. Regretted sex acts are not rape.
Sad Trombone

Oops.

Sad Trombone

Oops.

Rumors. Still 3 charges acquitted. Now the appeals, ala Sheldon Silver. Who do you think will die first, fat Shelley or fat Harvey? Who will cheat the hangman first?

Appeals?

On what grounds do you expect Weinstein to appeal on?

He's welcome to appeal as much as he likes. He can spend all day in the prison library coming up with arguments. Its not gonna help him.

The grounds are up to the creativity of his lawyers. My expectations are irrelevant. But you, the law student, the intern, should be able to come up with some conjecture. For all you know, one day you may represent a client in similar circumstances. Lawyers do not get to choose their clients, their clients choose them. Unless you plan on working strictly in the government, where corruption runs rampant and you will not be exempt, you need to view this case as practice to practice.

Me, I am just busy laughing at the scandal of the week. The melodrama is most entertaining. Nothing in the entertainment industry will change, so many willing young starlets with stars in their eyes.

The jury has not begun deliberations yet. They begin tomorrow.

I question how any "major source" could possibly know how the jury is leaning.

They're stirring the pot obviously. The same happened with Cosby's trial and this is turning out to be no different.

One can always expect the media to dig for some kind of ratings when the chips are down.
