A man was arrested after he allegedly drove a van through a tent where Trump campaign volunteers were registering voters at a shopping center parking lot in Florida.

The incident occurred Saturday afternoon when the man allegedly drove a brown and gold van into a group of around six GOP volunteers working to register voters at the Kernan Village Shopping Center in Jacksonville.

The volunteers "narrowly avoided" being struck by the van, and no one was injured, according to the Republican Party of Duval County.

The driver allegedly sped away after making an obscene gesture toward the crowd, the party said on Facebook.

Hours after the incident, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office arrested Gregory William Loel Timm, 27, and he was charged with two counts of aggravated assault on a person 65 years of age or older, one count of criminal mischief, and driving with a suspended license.


The sheriff's office did not provide additional details about Timm on Sunday.


Several Republican party officials suggested that the incident was a politically-motivated attack in which GOP volunteers were targeted.

The guy tried to hit people. He missed. Police arrested him. True, it’s not as spectacular as a man trying to put bombs in mailboxes. But worthy of coverage. Fox, NBC and ABC covered it, among other outlets.

Sure it will, because we know its not a canard. Trump supporters have a target on their backs. When zero people were killed in a round of antisemitic attacks a few months ago, the media were swinging from chandeliers screaming that there's a war on Jews. You didn't object to that hyperbole though.

The man who 'put bombs in mailboxes' lived in a van that was plastered with homemade fliers, and was mentally handicapped. The bombs themselves weren't capable of detonating, and he was sent to prison for life for it.

If it were someone driving into a democrat tent, CNN would have 24/7 coverage to analyze the deplorable’s. Since it was a republican tent, CNN is silent. The left has no problem with this type of violence against republicans, look at Antifa, the people that have been shouted out of restaurants, and college campuses and the attacks against those with MAGA hats.

Can we get a little perspective here, people? Left wing terrorist (singular) = 1 dumb ass acting alone who didn't even manage to injure anyone. It's one person, in a country of 300 million.

Right wing terrorists killed 50 people in 2018 alone. Do you understand why one gets more media coverage?

Sad story, but as (or more) worthy of across the board coverage as this recent incident. The latter was basically a no-harm no-foul thing worthy of this guy’s going to jail and a warning to both parties about crazies out there. It got coverage by at least two networks that I saw. No conspiracy.

First, glad no one was hurt.

Second, it didn't go unnoticed, if you do a google search, you will find plenty of same day coverage.

Third, in the article that was linked, it mentions that the local DNC immediately Stated the following which you did not mention:

In a statement on Saturday, the Duval County Democratic Party condemned the incident, calling it a "cowardly act of violence."

"No one’s life should be placed in danger for exercising their first amendment rights," the party said. "As Democrats, but more importantly, as residents of this great city of Jacksonville, we call on our fellow citizens to act with dignity, civility and respect for one another during this election cycle and beyond."

Fourth, while it should be condemned and the arrested driver should face jail time for this, let us not forget that Trump supporters are more prone to violence than others. You can find the videos of their violence fairly easily as there are so many examples as opposed to liberal violence.

Fifth, I think it's ironic when the right accuses the left of political terrorism (correctly or not) on these rare cases....but when the left says the same of the right...the right responds that it was not politically motivated violence or terrorism, but the acts of mentally ill persons.

Ok. I'm not excusing what happened, but has anybody noticed that neither the easy up nor table were more than knocked over? Not even a bent leg?

He deserves to have the book thrown at him. The assault on seniors carries big penalties pretty much everywhere.

But the "terrorist trying to kill trump supporters" is belied by the crime scene photos.

He evidently filmed it. And that should shine a light on the incident.

But it looks more like he knocked over their setup rather than plowed through it with intent to kill.

As I said, not excusing, lock his ass up. But the reality of the incident may be why its not getting the coverage one would expect from a liberal "Charlottesville".
