I've taken some heat from my friends on the left for hating on some left wing media channels, particularly TYT. They are the embodiment of the left-wing purity test. It's littered with 'woker-than-though' eye-roll-inducing b.s.

My takeaway summary:

"What is Bernie doing amplifying this racist/homophobe/transphobe?... I mean, yeah, no one is perfect... We all say dumb stuff we later regret... No one perfectly passes the purity test... But why is he advertising the endorsement of an imperfect person... And yeah, none of us are perfect... BUT STILL!!"

But hey, I'm fair, so I give them credit for ripping on Hillary.

Compare that to David Pakman's analysis over the controversy:

My takeaway summary:

"Genuine Bernie supporters who are outraged need to stop being stupid. Disingenuous Bernie-haters trying to generate faux-outrage need to stop with the concern trolling. Why on Earth should you be mad that a man to our political right is thinking about voting for Bernie and that the Bernie Campaign is happy about that, especially when that man has an audience of tens-of-millions? How frikkin' stupid are you people?"

People like Pakman (and a good chunk of TYT's Youtube audience) remind me there are still some sane reasonable people out there.

Bernie will be 80 and just had a heart attack not long ago. There is nothing holier than thou about it. The man is too damn old. If yo were going on a 4 year mission to Mars, would you want Bernie to be the guy selected to go with you?

Due to Duverger's Law, we are and will always be in a two party system. If you want your party to be large enough to succeed in placing your party members in office to effect change, you better damn well be tolerant enough to accept the wide swatch of humanity you will need to hit critical mass of a plurality of American voters.

Screw purity tests, and out-of-bound discussions. You'll never get anywhere with that.

Buddy, you are talking about a totally different subject.

I'm not so much interested in internal Democratic Party politics, as the notion that accepting science makes you a right-winger. Things are getting more Soviet by the day.

Seen the name maybe once before. No idea who Rogan is.

Anyone that thinks Joe Rogan is a transphobe/homophobic or whatever, clearly hasn't ever watched his show.

The only right-winger position I know Rogan holds is on the 2A, and even with that one I've heard him open to reasonable regulations. On almost everything else he is liberal. He has absolutely nothing against transgender people but since he understands born males have a natural advantage to women, no matter what stage of their transition, he is opposed to them competing in women's weightlifting competitions. For some reason that makes him a 'transphobe' and of the 'far right.'

Comedian. Hosted Fear Factor. Now runs probably the most popular podcast. Always has interesting guests.

Is he a deplorable?

This is just yet another example of the left eating the left when one fails one of their random 'purity tests', of which they have so many mere mortals cannot account for them all. The epitome, and eventual downfall, of the 'PC' culture they promote.

Is he a deplorable?

He will sit down and talk to anyone on his podcast. Left, right, center, and those one could describe as having "extreme" viewpoints. If being willing to publicly sit down and talk to someone who can only be described as deplorable like Alex Jones makes one "giving them a platform" makes one deplorable, then Joe Rogan is deplorable.

I have no reason to think the man is deplorable, but that is not the standard to which I hold people to.

Perhaps to the SJW purists. In the end he just wants to smoke weed, do DMT, and get along with everyone.

That Alex Jones episode was absolute gold.

What's DMT?

This is what I'm talking about. It's getting to the point where simply acknowledging scientific facts is considered unacceptable because it contradicts the dogma of Equality, which is the same reason the Soviet Union denied biology, FWIW. We haven't gotten to the point where Equality is required to apply to wheat yet, but who knows.

I meant the Hillary definition of deplorable. A bigot.

Nothing like getting high and talking crazy CT s*** with AJ.

They could do without Eddie Bravo though.

No. I would not say so. The closest he has come to bigotry, by the definition given by some on the far-left, is questioning whether transgender women who transitioned post-puberty should wrestle and fight in MMA tournaments against biological cisgendered women because of the distinct advantage they typically have with normal male muscle and bone development and body frame. To some over-corrective social justice activists, such statements seem to be just a step or two removed from saying that transgendered people should be sent to the gas chambers.

Thanks for not employing "SJW". Probably best I leave this thread alone. I've picked enough battles for now.

Thanks to all for the info.

He's also been one of the main commentators for UFC fights and MMA for decades.

Very much into martial arts.

ex-MMA fighter turned stand-up comedian, pretty libertarian at least as to social stuff/substances, has podcasts with guests. I've watched a few. I don't know what the fuss is supposed to be about, but then I haven't seen all that much of it.

Transgenders in MMA cage matches is not an subject worth worrying about. I support transgender people participating in all sports according to self identity. But MMA crap? Last on the list.
