I have no idea what she said as I am deaf but in this video the auto-generated closed captioning even said "Lakers". :lamo Even the program knows what she said. :lamo

So freakin' pissed that the Special Report broke in and cut off the men's figure skating championships.

A quick mention? Sure, fine...but it went on and on. A sports figure was killed...regrets to the family but to force 20 minutes of it on everyone else? Jeez.
 
We are at the brink when we will have no way to know if any picture, video or soundtrack is true or a fake. This has horrific potential in the future of elections, prosecutions, law suits and just about everything else.

Quoting someone else when that is the substance of the story and the story is substantial seems the ONE time it is legit to write/repeat the word since it is 100% about that word.

You are mixing apples and oranges. I am defending the title of the thread and OP usage of the word, not the person on the video who said it - regardless of who - the reporter or who doctored the video (who acted 1000 times worse).
 
Slurs from either direction rarely trouble me. I'm not an SJW warrior or PC purist in any sense. A person can say damn near anything, particularly off the cuff, and I don't care. You pretend like you are pure - that you so thoughtfully and respecting everyone and all that is good and right - perpetually edit ourselves even before thinking, let alone speaking.

Our brains are wierdly wired. Words just get crossed, your face just makes expression you can't always hide perfectly. Only anyone who has never done a typo on this forum can claim otherwise. Emotions make it worse. A local reporter has an almost impossible ladder to climb to get to the top - like any other actor. This was her one - likely only one ever - to be on national news. Both for her job (keeping it) and the 1 in 1,000,000 some producer or executive saw potential in her to be higher up that career ladder was on the line. Her entire future depends upon what she does and says in the next few seconds.


Maybe she grew were she heard the n-word and other slurs as ordinary language from birth, day and night, for years and even if ever going home or her friends of her youth, might hear them again. So, subconsciously - which has perfect memory but is horrifically bad at cataloging and knowing when to put memory into your conscious mind to consider and use - your subconscious mind is screaming "DO NOT USE THE WORD N*IGGER!" But, in the terror of your entire life's future on the line before the entire world, for 0.18 seconds, your conscious organizing it all to issue the nerve commands all needed to say words, did not yet hear "do not."


I do not think this person should be crucified. I believe she should be allowed to apologize and we should accept. My response would "sure, that really wasn't necessary anyway. Don't worry about it." Her life history, what she has done, tells who and what she really is. Not because the "reputation death penalty word -(but only for white people)" somehow got out.


Seriously. You really think what she did (if she did) is gravest misconduct a person may do and the gravest harm a person screw up literally equating to career and reputation suicide screw up?


IF this is a fake? The person who did so should be crucified. Destroyed in every social and legal ways.

It was clearly a misspeak. It sounded like she flubbed the word. That is the gap.

He response that she started to say Knicks and stuttered it to Lakers .

As long as she has no such history, I accept her explanation.

Considering she is from NY and likely not an avid sports fan the explanation makes sense.
