ABC mistook Kentucky gun show for Syrian war footage

ABC showed footage of what appears to be at nighttime with lots of gunfire and explosions. It was reported that Turkish forces were ruthlessly bombing the Kurds.

There is only one problem: The footage is not from Syria. In fact, it's not even from a warzone.

It's actually footage from a display of machine gun fire in Knob Creek, Kentucky

That's okay...the right had "proof" that the left was stuffing ballot boxes in the last US presidential election...only to discover that it was footage that the BBC had gotten from the Russian elections and it showed Russian election fraud (there was even a Russian flag in the background).

They most likely accepted the information from a freelance journalist and didn't vet the data themselves, until it was obviously too late.

And it is on topic insofar that the reason why this was posted was obviously to show the stupidity of the left....I just wanted to point out that the right also falls victim to stupidity as well.

I could have chosen other topics like how a girl killed in a mass shooting showed up alive at the White House, or that pictures of UN vehicles being transported meant that Obama was allowing a UN invasion of America...I can provide links for those as well if you like, but that may be beating a dead horse at this point.

So you were referencing what I thought it was.
So you're trying to draw a parallel between two sites. One being a mass media company, that's operating budget dwarfs the other by literal millions and gets that many more views in a single day that the other receives in a week. Not to mention the lesser of the two being an already well known site for pushing fake information, though I can't find the information for the source of the video being an actual right wing source.

I only heard about this because some media personality on CNN mentioned it on their twitter page.

Was there anyone in the actual main stream that was pushing this video as fact?

Since they take the pictures and write the articles [or narrative]…..

This is circumstantial evidence that Operation Mockingbird still lives on.

Those who want US to stay in Syria and the Mideast gave the material to ABC so their agenda could be advanced. CIA? Mossad? Who knows, but it strongly reinforces the notion that many things the American people believe are false.

The media is active in presenting misinformation to manipulate the public perception.
