NOAA backs Trump on Alabama forecast, and rebukes Weather Service office that accurately contradicted him - StamfordAdvocate

WASHINGTON - The federal agency that oversees the National Weather Service has sided with President Donald Trump over its own scientists in the ongoing controversy over whether Alabama was at risk of a direct hit from Hurricane Dorian.
In a statement released Friday afternoon, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) stated Alabama was in fact threatened by the storm at the time Trump tweeted Alabama would "most likely be hit (much) harder than anticipated."
Referencing archived hurricane advisories, the NOAA statement said that information provided to the president and the public between Aug. 28 and Sept. 2 "demonstrated that tropical-storm-force winds from Hurricane Dorian could impact Alabama."

So Trump was right, albeit late, but the media couldn’t be bothered to fact check. No headlines if you do that!

Released six days after Trump's first tweet on the matter, the NOAA statement was unsigned, neither from the acting head of the agency nor any particular spokesman....

The NOAA statement Friday makes no reference to the fact that when Trump tweeted that Alabama was at risk, it was not in the National Hurricane Center's "cone of uncertainty," which is where forecasters determine the storm is most likely to track. Alabama also had not appeared in the cone in days earlier, and no Hurricane Center text product ever mentioned the state.
Funny how you omitted the parts which make your thread look stupid. Also, last I heard, this "statement" cannot be found anywhere on the NOAA website.

Trump was not right. Trump was wrong, especially at the time he tweeted it. The fact he is so childish as to refuse to admit he was wrong shows just how narcissistic he is.

heh heh.
I mentioned this on another thread and wondered how it might affect the established Sharpiegate narrative.
Then on yet another thread I saw someone have a go at it.
Then ripped into Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross because the NOAA is under Commerce.

Trump spoke directly with National Park Service chief after inauguration
President Trump spoke directly over the phone Saturday with the National Park Service (NPS) chief following his inauguration -- the same day the White House aired grievances about reporting on crowd sizes at the historic ceremony.

A National Park Service spokesperson confirmed to CBS News that Michael Reynolds, the acting NPS director, had a phone call with Mr. Trump over the weekend. The Washington Post first reported on the direct communications between the two.

According to the Post, the president “personally ordered” Reynolds to put out more images of people on the National Mall during the inaugural events.

This actually could turn out to be another extremely strange chapter in the Trump saga... All over some sharpie on the board but the way the NOAA did this does add credence to the idea they were directed to do so, in order to make Trump look better...

Of course, as usual, Trump supporters fall for it, hook, line and sinker, reason being?

Lame.

Statement from NOAA | National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

From Wednesday, August 28, through Monday, September 2, the information provided by NOAA and the National Hurricane Center to President Trump and the wider public demonstrated that tropical-storm-force winds from Hurricane Dorian could impact Alabama. This is clearly demonstrated in Hurricane Advisories #15 through #41, which can be viewed at the following link.

The Birmingham National Weather Service’s Sunday morning tweet spoke in absolute terms that were inconsistent with probabilities from the best forecast products available at the time.

Stay cocooned. It's probably an approved safe space.

Clearly you misunderstand the process.

Step 1. Loudly attack the President for some gaff, lie, or other alleged malfeasance.

Step 2. When challenged by evidence that the claims used to attack the President were false and/or misleading? Double down by undermining/denying the validity of any evidence that shows the original attacks were wrong.

Step 3. Ignore facts to the contrary and continue to proclaim that the original claims of wrongdoing are true.

Remember:

Like J. Goebbels said, for propaganda to be successful it must confine itself to a few points and repeat them over and over. Do that, and you can eventually convince people that a square is really a circle.

Trump was right

The sharpie marked chart shows it.

The NOAA head whose was threatened with being fired just said Trump was right

Why can't you people accept that Trump knows more about weather patterns than the scientists who study it.
We have the chart and people whose jobs were threatened to prove it

Who would ever have thought the left would be so deranged over a president telling people to be ready for a storm?

People in Alabama should be ready for a hurricane? Orange man bad!

Of course the major issue I see is that this statement is coming out 6 days later. Had Trump's statements on the 1st been accurate, then the NOAA had an obligation to address the statement the Alabama weather service put out nearly 20 minutes later. I mean we're talking about Alabama being hit hard and the NOAA didn't bother to correct the AWS when they said the state would feel no impact? Really?

This is sad. It's sad that people have spent their entire lives calculating, studying, mapping and learning the characteristics of these storms to try and save lives, but now an insecure little man did yet another strong arm play to look like he was right, and someone there folded like a cheap suit. Accurate weather is no longer important. It's what the man with the sharpie falsely reports instead.

Can you explain why NOAA waited until 6 days later to make this statement? Why did they let the statement by the AWS that disputed the presidents claims stand? If they thought Trump was right and the experts were wrong it would seem they owed the state of Alabama a correction that day. Not 6 days later.

It's interesting how you refused to address what I said and instead simply regurgitated the statement whose veracity I legitimately cast in doubt. I would expect that of troll bots, but I'd hope you would be better.

You literally just described what Trump has been doing.

God, Trump supporters say the stupidest things.

A) It was not true
B) Since it was not true, it was likely illegal
C) It could have caused issues which did not need to be caused
D) Trump won't admit he was wrong because he is a child.

Seriously, how can anyone defend such a senile fool who literally has to draw lines in Sharpie to try and make people believe he wasn't wrong?

Also, the supposed NOAA statement is not signed and, last I heard, does not appear anywhere on the NOAA's website.

At this point, it is pretty clearly just another example of Trump fake news.

Huh. NOAA. Aren't they one of those 'warmist' organizations that has a budget-driven agenda and regularily alters it's data?
Depends who they agree with, I guess.

Refused?

I posted the comment from the NOAA.

Keep flailing.

I've heard a man with a pen can steal more than a man with a gun.

The republican party has once again confirmed they are the party of denial.

Whose comment is legitimately in doubt, for reasons I mentioned and you refused to discuss. Like I said.

Seriously, why do Trump supporters say such stupid things?

LOL

Legitimately in doubt only by the obsessed lunatics who make up the New Democratic Party asylum.

No, in doubt by the actual weather models we all have seen and you seem to want to ignore. Just to be clear, Sharpie models not included.

The President is lying and now you are supporting his lies.

To be fair, we don't yet know who put out the statement.

Only gullible fools do not know 1.) the paths of hurricanes at the start are unknown and early predictions of where they might hit land covers 2000 miles and 2.) Florida and Alabama were predicted as high probability of where Dorian would land on EVERY weather, news and press prediction. Your ranting in your messages only demonstrates being a blind follower zealot of the propaganda spokespersons on television, nothing else.

I have no doubt that CNN laughs its asses off over such people. Calling upon people to more and more ratify what is increasingly known to be nonsensical or outright false is how cults lead their followers into total cult submissiveness. Anyone who buys into this absurdly and known false attack is just a totally submissive cult worshiper - in this instance the cult of the corporate and personally richest people on earth who own the MSM, press and Internet. Their hatred of Trump is for their personal wealth and power.

And the flipside to it:

Liberals trust NOAA when its about climate change, but call them liars when they agree with Trump.
