Canadian cartoonist loses job after illustration of Trump went viral

Trump cartoon: Canadian cartoonist Michael de Adder loses job after illustration went viral - CNN

"A Canadian cartoonist's illustration of President Donald Trump playing golf over the bodies of two drowned migrants went viral Wednesday. Two days later, Michael de Adder said on Twitter that he had been let go by a publishing company in New Brunswick, Canada."

Top billing on CNN this AM at 7:50EST. I love the modern and contrived "went viral" phrase at the end of the headline. Beyond that, I'm pretty shocked that this guy got fired. Wouldn't he get all kinds of awards instead? Doesn't everyone know that Trump is pure evil?

this seems to be nothing more than an instance where the newspaper's pro-tRump position and that of its contracted cartoonist were in opposition

If there is any justice left in the world the cartoon should be up for the Pulitzer Prize. But that said the subject was probably too much for the owner of those papers, we are talking about a businessman with ties to oil and transportation that includes business in the US from Canada (i.e. needs from the Trump administration to continue to do business here.)

I donít know about anyone else, but I donít appreciate the Canadian cartoonist meddling in our upcoming election.

I knew some was going to say this and demonstrate their lack of understanding of the 1st Amendment.

If I am not mistaken, the New York Times has just banned all political cartoons.

It followed the recent controversy in which a cartoon was accused of defaming a certain religion.

Political cartoons are meant to be simplistic.

This means that political cartoons are unfair. A cartoon cannot express nuances.

I remember that a cartoonist called Herblock drove Richard M. Nixon crazy. I believe that one of Herblock's cartoons showed Mr. Nixon crawling out of the sewer.

I think that President Trump is doing a good job under very trying circumstances.

And I think that the cartoon in question is very unfair to him.

But I feel that the cartoonist should have the right to draw it without being fired.

At least we now know what the cartoonist's political leanings are, so we can take anything that he "says" with a grain of salt.

This Canadian cartoonist HACK picked the lowest-hanging fruit he could find and exploited the death of a baby at the hands of her own father.
And the Left runs to defend him.

Why should a cartoonist who is an independent contractor to the newspaper not be allowed to be disengaged if the newspaper is dissatisfied with what the contractor is providing to that media concern?

That may be the political cartoon of the year thus far.
However, as an independent contractor he serves at the will of the party that contracted him consistent with the terms and conditions of the underlying contract between those two parties
