CNN Drops 26% In Prime Time As Fox News Dominates April Cable Ratings

CNN's prime time hosts can only hope it will be better in the new building.
As CNN prepares to move its prime time studios and operations to a glitzy new building at New York City's brand new--and widely reviled--Hudson Yards development, the network saw its prime time lineup drop 26% in April compared to the same month one year ago. CNN's total audience in prime time was well under a million viewers--767,000--while competitors MSNBC and Fox News finished the month far ahead: MSNBC in second place overall with 1.660 million total viewers, and Fox News leading all of cable with a total audience of 2.395 million.

April ranks as CNN's lowest-rated month among total viewers in nearly four years, since October 2015. CNN's Cuomo Primetime, which has been the network's highest-rated hour, drew a total audience of 917,000 viewers in April, the show's worst-ever performance.

Among viewers 25-54, the demographic most coveted by national advertisers, the falloff for CNN was even more stark: down 41 percent. CNN drew 198,000 viewers in the demo, behind MSNBC (255,000) and Fox News (389,000). All three networks saw year-over-year declines in April, with MSNBC down 36% and FNC down 19%.

Crap News Network suffers from TDS... poor leftist fools attempting to undo a presidential election by selling lies by omission isn't working for them.

Lying by omission is when a person leaves out important information or fails to correct a pre-existing misconception in order to hide the truth from others.

“I didn’t lie; I just didn’t tell you.”

Ahhh, that old chestnut. Now where have I heard that before?

Some people view omissions as more than just white lies, but as outright lying, because by omitting information, you’re no longer being transparent.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see why anti-Trump CNN's ratings have fallen to the gutter. They lie morning, noon and night. They purposely leave out context and peddle :bs.
I totally support their first amendment rights, and I reserve the right to say they deserve their crappy ratings.
They earned it.

If cnn can recover it will be only after they reach bottom.
It is possible they will stop lying and become "journalists" as opposed to democrat political operatives but do not bank on this.

Could just as easily be that CNN wants to debate "both sides" of issues that do not have a second side, like whether climate change is real, whether tRump is Putin's little bitch, whether black lives matter, etc. It wouldn't surprise me if they played the "both sides of the issue" game with anti-vaxxers, either.

Thank you too. :)

They are, IMO, political arms for the Democratic Party and it goes all the way to the top; Jeff Zucker.
Get rid of that cancer, fire the biggest haters, and CNN might get well again.

I am all for free speech. Many seem to have difficulty thinking but at least they can talk and therefore be corrected.

Some though seem clinically affected with TDS and may just need to be cared and "made comfortable" before final decisions are made as they say.

CNN does not debate.
Their commentators are paid liars.
If they choose to regain their ratings, they might reconsider their message.

I hear they have an opening. You might want to repeat the above. They'd like it.

I hate having to explain this so often, because it seems so painfully obvious, but oh well.

Popularity does not equate to who is doing the best reporting or who is most accurate, or who is least biased. The most popular shows, far and away, on both MSNBC and Fox are the most biased. The most popular radio talk shows are insanely biased, like Limbaugh and Hannity.

Maybe Fox news it very popular because they report fair and accurate news with no bias and a lot of people want to watch that. But, given the most popular shows and the facts that we know about the network, like them refusing to report breaking news like the hush money payoffs and the trump tower meeting, it's much more likely that Fox news is the most popular because there are more people that want to be spoon fed conservatively slanted news.

You didn't prove your point with a documented source. Try again or I will assume you are lying. :)

Prove it. Cite your source.

Politico Reporter Sends Story To Hillary Aide For Approval, Admits He’s A ‘Hack’

"A Politico reporter has been caught sending his journalism to Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman for approval.

In an April 30, 2015 email, released Monday by WikiLeaks, Politico’s chief political correspondent Glenn Thrush asked John Podesta to approve his writing pre-publication. Thrush begged Podesta not to tell anyone he had shared the copy and referred to himself as “a hack” in the email exchange.

“No worries Because I have become a hack I will send u the whole section that pertains to u,” Thrush wrote to Podesta. “Please don’t share or tell anyone I did this Tell me if I ****ed up anything.”

The Politico reporter then included five paragraphs from a story he would publish May 1 titled: “Hillary’s big-money dilemma.” Podesta replied that, off-the-record, there were “no problems.”"

Some "journalists" appear to treat the DNC as their direct reports.

I wont bother to go into the large list of incestuous power couples that rotate through the halls of government and media.

Their ridiculously poor ratings are indicative about what, IYO?

The Daily Caller :lamo

and that link alleges that that journalist was a hack for Politico, not CNN

You people can't get your lies straight!

And here comes the deflection. Right on queue. You obviously can't defend your ridiculous claim that CNN is allegedly a political operative for the Democratic party, so this is the tactic you resort to. :lamo

You obviously didn't read the Forbes article... Is below a lie too?

They don't attempt to have parity. CNN impanels groups of Trump haters to say wildly inaccurate statements and vent their bilious spleens as they exorcise their TDS.

Yeah, its not like CNN leaked their debate questions to the Clinton campaign and assisted in the undermining of Bernie Sanders's campaign because he wasn't who the DNC decided they wanted. Its not like they've ever engaged in Campaign Collusion! /s

Oh wait! Snopes says otherwise:
Donna Brazile Leaves CNN After Leaks Reveal Campaign Collusion

You're either ignorant or dishonest Phys

Glenn Greenwald: This Is CNN's Most Humiliating Moment, "Can't Admit They Lied... To The Entire World" | Video | RealClearPolitics

'The Intercept' founder Glenn Greenwald joined FNC's Tucker Carlson Tuesday night to discuss the anonymously sourced CNN report several weeks ago that claimed Trump knew about the "Trump Tower meeting" ahead of time. Michael Cohen's lawyer Lanny Davis has since admitted that he was the source and he was wrong to imply he could prove such a thing.

CNN is standing by its reporting, however.

IOW, CNN is standing by their lies.

It's obvious that CNN lies and their shoddy reporting equal poor ratings.

Instead of gaining viewers, CNN has lost their viewers, and according to O/P source, "None of CNN's prime time hours finished among the top five shows overall. CNN's top-rated hour, Cuomo Primetime, finished in 26th place."

The variability of the respective ratings of the three major US-aired cable news programming derives from the following:
  • Everyone who's keen to cleave to or consume prevarication, paltering and placative editorials regarding their benighted stances have one place to go, Fox News Channel's (FNC's) editorial shows, which FNC doesn't consider to be news.
  • Everyone else has two networks from which to choose: CNN and MSNBC.
    • The nature of the prime time news and news commentary on CNN and MSNBC differ materially in that:
      • CNN's presentations requires viewers have a greater level of applied comprehension (facts and context) about the matters the anchors and contributors discuss.
      • MSNBC's competing shows present matters in a more "roadmapy" way.
    • What is there to say? There are likely more public policy and politics news and commentary viewers who prefer a "roadmap" than there are coming to the table prepared enough that they don't need a "roadmap." People on both sides of the aisle are very similar in that regard; however, folks desiring right-wing affirmation/bias haven't two networks from which to choose.
