The BBC has apologised and agreed to pay damages to Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko.

The apology relates to an incorrect report claiming a payment was made to extend a meeting between Mr Poroshenko and US President Donald Trump.

An article, published last May but since removed from the BBC website, alleged $400,000 was paid to Mr Trump's former lawyer Michael Cohen.

The allegation, relating to a meeting in June 2017, was untrue.

The BBC also featured the report in a News at Ten television bulletin in the UK.

The mainstream media said they wanted to expose fake news everywhere in the aftermath of Trump's election, and they've been granted their wish; all of their b.s. fake news is eventually being exposed, and they're paying for it.

The BBC attempted to claim that its journalism made a less serious allegation than that claimed by Poroshenko’s lawyers.

However, after a judge at the high court in London sided with the Ukrainian president’s interpretation of the article, the BBC decided it could no longer defend its reporting. As a result the broadcaster agreed to pay damages and issue a correction; it must also pay the Ukrainian’s legal costs.

Perhaps this is why the BBC charge Brits $300 a year to watch their news programs.

Is that $300 a year just for news or for all BBC programming? And where did you get that number?

Can you imagine being charged $300 annually for PBS?

Why would I imagine that? Has nothing to do with the story.
You're just pulling more crap out of your ass.

I understand that the media in England are VERY careful before reporting fake news.

English law seems to favor the person who feels that s/he has been defamed.

Besides paying damages, the fake news source must also pay court costs.

If we had similar tough laws here, MSNBC and CNN and FOX (not to mention the networks and the mainstream newspapers) would mind their p's and q's.
