It's official: Russiagate is this generation's WMD

Geee do you remember when our intelligence agencies got it dead wrong that Iraq had WMD's, and you call Trump a trader because he questions our intelligence. Your hatred of Trump is overflowing

Are you kidding me, Obama was Putin's Puppet.

Putin told Obama to stay out of Crimea and he said yes sir. Stupidity
*
Putin told Obama to NOT sell arms to Ukrainian and he said yes sir. Stupidity
*
Putin told Obama to NOT put our missile defense shield in NATO, he again says yes sir. Stupidity
*
Obama yells out his RED LINE to Syria to never use WMD’s on its people again, Yet Syria walked all over Obama’s RED LINE. Putin told Obama to stay out and Obama says Yes Sir. Coward.
*
Obama asked Putin of all people to certify that all of Syria’s WMD were taking out of Syria and Putin lied to Obama. Stupidity
*
Obama told Russia that once he is reelected he can be more flexible to what Putin wants. How stupid was that. Obama loved Putin and did whatever Putin wanted. Watch the video. Stupidity

The intelligence agencies got WMD intentionally wrong because they were under the thumb of Cheyney and the rest of the neocons. I'm glad the intelligence agencies are now working independently.

Either way, a U.S. president should not trash his own L.E. departments on foreign soil. Had Obama done that, you and your hateful buddies would STILL be calling for Obama's head today. You know it - I know it.

Cheers.

I hear the report will have some damning things in it.

Like: videotape of Trump saying he fired the FBI director because of the Russia probe.
se.
Yea so what. Now he we know he had good reason to fire him for that.

I h

Like: videotape of Trump directly addressing Russia and asking them to hack his opponents emails.
course.

yeah yeah yeah . We've all seen that..
Trump urges Russia to hack Clinton's email - POLITICO

I h

Like: emails that show his son set up a meeting in Trump Tower with a bunch of Russians discussing removing sanctions, and THEN, the President serially lying about the meeting, dismissing it as something about ‘adoptions’.

Also, evidence that that meeting was about ‘dirt on Hillary’ and his son on the campaign said ‘I love it’.
course.

"Like. Didn't happen. " - Mueller Report

You got punked. Deal with it.

We're comparing an investigation to something that went on for years (members from all parties made the WMD claim) and resulted in a very large war that resulted in thousands of deaths?

How strange. There isn't any comparison between these events.

I have. Even the writer admits the two events are not equal. That tells me the writer was intellectually lazy.

No, they aren't equal, but that only matters if you only care about the headline. Most of the time the writers don't even write the headlines... so not sure how a headline that doesn't exactly jibe with a long, thoroughly cited piece means the the WRITER is intellectually lazy, it just meant that he set out to write a detailed article on the problems with the decline of journalistic standards and his two primary examples at Russiagate and Bush's WMD claims.

As far as the journalistic profession, this was worse because, as he explains, at least with WMDs the press and the president were at odds, so they were predisposed to correct the record. With Trump/Russia the press was not at odds with the Obama administration officials pushing this nonsense, so only helped promote the falsehoods.

Since you read the whole article, how about you give me a headline that you think would be more appropriate?

Hey look, someone else who didn't read the article!

His article is about the MEDIA and how it deals with stories that originate from government sources. Read the thing, and spare us the "Hey everyone, I'm also ignorant of the subject, have only read the headline... here's my take." nonsense.

I am not a writer, so not too good with headlines. However, the fatal flaw is even suggesting that WMDs and the Russian interference investigation are even in the same realm of comparison. The writer could have picked some other examples of media bias that would have resulted in similar consequences, or at least consequences of comparable seriousness. The two events should not even be in the same piece, but the writer chose WMDs for maximum impact, otherwise known as "click bait".

I read the article. It doesn't change my post.

I would never compare a mass shooting with a game of dodgeball. It's impossible to compare these two situations. There is nothing to compare. Media or people or animals or aliens or anything else. WMDs and "Russiagate" don't belong in the same sentence. Smart people know that. Then again, smart people don't tinkle in their undies 24/7 that the media is so mean to the great Donald.

But your faux outrage is not at all expected.

No you didn't read the article, Tres, stop lying. If you read the article you wouldn't have come away with the idiotic position that Taibbi set out to compare Russian collusion to WMDs. The ONLY comparison he made is that they were both major news stories driven entirely by government sources.. which is absolutely true.

I read the entire article.

I didn't know you were a Taibbi fan. I'm not. Getting through his words was painful.

I know, the media makes you cry. They're mean to Trump.

I'm don't limit my reading by ideology of the reporter. Maybe you do?

The media lied to the American people for two years and idiots bought into it.

I read the article. The only one lying about that is you. That's what I expect from Trump lovers.

The media didn't lie to me. Maybe they lied to you. That's your issue. I know they make you cry. I don't obsess about them 24/7.

No, you didn't actually read the article. Your characterization of what Taibbi's article is can only be derived by reading the headline and not reading the article.

That's what I expect from Trump lovers.

Well, if you think telling the truth and calling you out for lying is something a Trump lover would do then I suppose I bear a resemblance.

The media didn't lie to me. Maybe they lied to you. That's your issue. I know they make you cry. I don't obsess about them 24/7.

Well, they did... but at this point it's clear that your exposure to those lies were limited to the ones they included in the headlines.

[h=1]The Five Dumbest Things In The New York Times Coverage Of The Issuance Of The Mueller Report[/h]March 23, 2019/ Francis Menton[FONT=&quot]The Mueller Report has been issued. At this moment, no one has actually yet seen it, other than a few top guys at the Justice Department — Barr, Rosenstein, maybe a handful of others. Nobody knows what’s in it, except for one thing: according to a “top Justice Department official” (probably Barr or Rosenstein), there are going to be no more indictments, whether relating to Russian “collusion” or anything else. Oh, wait a minute. Before today, there also had been zero indictments for anything having to do with “collusion” with the Russians by Trump or his campaign. So that one little thing that we know means that, after almost two years of investigation by Mueller and his team, and after another year plus of investigation by the FBI before that, the vast and awesome armies of our Justice apparatus have found exactly nothing in the way of criminal “collusion” between Trump or his campaign and the Russians.
Now of course, the New York Times cannot just pretend that this issuance of this Report is not happening. They have to cover it, and in a big way. (Same with the Washington Post. But, since I don’t get the Washington Post, I’ll have to let you read about their shame at other sites, for example at PowerLine.). Trying to live up to their readers’ expectations, the Times fills up oodles of space with “coverage” — about two-thirds of page A1 (three news articles), all of pages A14, A15, A16 and A17, the only unsigned editorial of the day on page A24, and an op-ed on page A25 by one Caroline Fredrickson (President of the American Constitution Society).
But what are we going to say? I mean, we are supposedly the most credible among credible mainstream media sources and we have now spent well over two years hyping this Russian “collusion” thing in dozens of pieces in an obvious attempt to damage if not bring down the President. And now it comes to nothing? Everything we’ve said about this for two plus years has been wrong? What are we going to say???? . . .

Conclusion that there was no conspiracy opens media outlets to mockeryBy Paul Farhi

And now comes the reckoning for the mainstream news media and the pundits.
After more than two years of intense reporting and endless talking-head speculation about possible collusion between Donald Trump’s presidential campaign and Russian agents in 2016, special counsel Robert S. Mueller III put a huge spike in all of it on Sunday. Attorney General William P. Barr relayed Mueller’s key findings in a four-page summary of the 22-month investigation: The evidence was insufficient to conclude that Trump or his associates conspired with Russians to interfere in the campaign.
Barr’s announcement was a thunderclap to mainstream news outlets and the cadre of mostly liberal-leaning commentators who have spent months emphasizing the possible-collusion narrative in opinion columns and cable TV panel discussions.

“Nobody wants to hear this, but news that Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller is headed home without issuing new charges is a death-blow for the reputation of the American news media,” Rolling Stone’s Matt Taibbi wrote in a column published Saturday, a day before Barr nailed the collusion coffin shut. He added: “Nothing Trump is accused of from now on by the press will be believed by huge chunks of the population.”

Taibbi wrote that the reporting and commentary asserting collusion between Trump and Russia belonged in the dustbin of other discarded stories, such as Iraq possessing weapons of mass destruction before the U.S. invasion in 2003. He even called out “Saturday Night Live” — one of Trump’s favorite Twitter foils — for a cast singalong to Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” that featured the line: “Mueller, please come through, because the only option is a coup.”
Journalist and commentator Glenn Greenwald — a longtime skeptic of the collusion angle — tweeted his contempt for the media coverageon Sunday, too: “Check every MSNBC personality, CNN law ‘expert,’ liberal-centrist outlets and #Resistance scam artist and see if you see even an iota of self-reflection, humility or admission of massive error.”. . . .

[h=2]Trump wins: Russiagate becomes the weapon of mass destruction for Mass Media’s reputation[/h]
[h=4]Trump is vindicated. The real substance of Russiagate is what it says about the media[/h]Dragged out for two years of hate, denigration and abuse in the media, in the end the Muller inquiry found no collusion. How many journalists predicted this. How many even wrote as though it was possible? Credit to Matt Taibbi for the scathing WMD comparison.
[h=4]Mueller report into collusion a stunning victory for Donald Trump, by Cameron Stewart, The Australian.[/h]The summary of the Mueller report issued today by Attorney General William Barr clears the president and his aides of any collusion with Russia and says there is no legal case to support obstruction of justice charges against him. …
It is a devastating defeat for the Democrats and for much of the US media who had hoped, prayed and frankly expected that Mueller would somehow find a silver bullet to end or at least cripple Trump’s presidency.
[h=4]Matt Taibbi on Russiagate: ‘Death Blow for the Reputation of the American News Media’[/h]It’s official: Russiagate is this generation’s WMD
Nothing Trump is accused of from now on by the press will be believed by huge chunks of the population, a group that (perhaps thanks to this story) is now larger than his original base. As Baker notes, a full 50.3% of respondents in a poll conducted this month said they agree with Trump the Mueller probe is a “witch hunt.”
The Special Prosecutor literally became a religious figure during the last few years, with votive candles sold in his image and Saturday Night Live cast members singing “All I Want for Christmas is You” to him featuring the rhymey line: “Mueller please come through, because the only option is a coup.”
Stories have been coming out for some time now hinting Mueller’s final report might leave audiences “disappointed,” as if a President not being a foreign spy could somehow be bad news. . . .

I do.

The supposed WMD "intelligence" led to the invasion of another country, the loss of thousands of lives, and trillions of lost money on wasteful war.

To compare this investigation to that is simply downright stupid.

Also considering the results. Many indictments.

It's a fact Trump campaign members met with Russian officials, its a fact russian trolls worked to get Trump elected. And there are still countless ohter investigations into Trump.

Right win scum can do what they usually do and lie and deflect all they want. Won't change the reality

You are aware Saddam actually had—-and used repeatedly—-WMDs.....right?
Not since the early 1980's about 20 years before the U.S. invaded on the pretext that Iraq had WMD -- which the International Weapons inspectors said were destroyed.

You're beaten. To a pulp.

Not only is collusion not even a crime, which it isn't, it didn't even happen. Hillary has had FAR more involvement, meetings, and campaign contributions from Russia for years and years.

This was so mild compared to what Washington does on an hourly basis.

And we just watched two full years of "fake news" night after night after night on CNN, etc.

Trump single-handedly took down the media forever. They're never to be trusted again, and they won't be. And they know it, and it's killing them inside.

The Washington Post is trying to apologize today. They're trying to save themselves. Too little, too late.

And now liberals have to take that long look in the mirror, which they won't, and deal with the reality staring back at them.

Trump is a necessary buffoon that keeps winning over and over again.

Taking down the media only helps you Nazi wannabees. It's the worst thing that could happen to this country, and the battle cry of every real patriot in this country, something your group wouldn't know about.

Yeah just like Trump collude with the Russians and Obstruction of Justice, Oh and like Kavanagh was the leader of a gang of rapist, who spiked the punch to get the woman ready to be raped.

Either way, a U.S. president should not trash his own L.E. departments on foreign soil.

During a town hall meeting in Laos, President Barack Obama called Americans “lazy” multiple times.

In Laos, Obama Repeatedly Calls Americans 'Lazy'

I am disgusted that President Obama disparaged the United States in a speech he delivered overseas, in Malaysia, of all places. In doing so, he not only revealed his conspicuous lack of patriotism, but displayed an amazing lack of awareness about the country hosting him.

Obama trashes America in speech in Malaysia

A common theme that runs through President Obama's statements is the idea the United States must atone for its past policies, whether it is America's application of the war against Islamist terrorism or its overall foreign policy. At the core of this message is the concept that the U.S. is a flawed nation that must seek redemption by apologizing for its past "sins."

It'''s official: Russiagate is this generation'''s WMD

"Stories have been coming out for some time now hinting Mueller’s final report might leave audiences “disappointed,” as if a President not being a foreign spy could somehow be bad news.

Openly using such language has, all along, been an indictment. Imagine how tone-deaf you’d have to be to not realize it makes you look bad, when news does not match audience expectations you raised. To be unaware of this is mind-boggling, the journalistic equivalent of walking outside without pants."

Matthew Taibbi nails it. The amount of "hope" that the press built in Democrat and Anti-Trump groups that the US President was a Russian spy is simply disgusting. Every single lead from unnamed officials assuring that Mueller would be indicting Trump were lies, every assurance that there was ample evidence to prove it was a lie specifically intended to sew distrust in US election system, the President, and the system as a whole.

In other words, it all favored Putin's ultimate goal of sewing distrust, and the new media obliged with great gusto.

In the end, Trump's position has been more than vindicated..

Fake news? You bet. Every single story about Trump's "collusion" was based on lies.

Media acting against the best interest of the country? Absolutely. They fed hysteria and division on a lie.

Deep state? Yes. Go back and look at the assurances that Federal officials (named and anonymous) gave the press that in the end Trump would be in jail... and baseless lies.

For those who cheered on Mueller as a the savior from a Russian plot... hey, you were right, but you had the wrong target.

Now Mueller is reviled by the Left for not put Trump in the slammer and throwing away the key. Now he can't be trusted because the report is false...........Trump didn't do it.

Typical know nothing conservative, can't actually defend your argument. can only copy and paste someone esle's unfounded opinion and then do nothing but tell others they should read the article and make his argument for him
