CNN’s Jim Acosta mocked for accidentally proving that border walls work

“Jim Acosta just posted one of the biggest self owns ever,” social media strategist Caleb Hull responded. ‘He's walking along the border where there's a wall in place talking about how there's nothing that ‘resembles a national emergency situation’ and ‘there's no migrants trying to rush.’ That's because there's a wall, Jim.”

Do you know how wide that wall area covers?

Do you know how wide that wall area covers?

Yep, it's way wider than it is taller, let me tell you, but not wide enough to avert a crisis, or even a national emergency, which is likely, somewhat, or even almost definitely - if negotiations, which are not going well, don't come through soon, rather than later - which I hope is not the case so, yes, the wall is very wider than it is taller.

If you watch the video via his twitter, Acosta actually looks to reach the end of the steel slats. So basically posting that picture is just to give a false impression.

No one broke into my house while I was gone today. Proof you don’t need a wall...

Acosta has never impressed me as being very bright. He proved Trump's point and is so stupid he doesn't even know it.

I would suggest people watch the video on Acosta's twitter page. He not only reaches the end of that steel barrier, but it also shows a much shorter (3-4') chain link fence takes up where the steel slats leave off.

If child prisons don't deter migrants then walls won't either.

You should be praising him for proving that we can save $5 Billion of taxpayer $$$$ because we don't have to build a wall now!!! Thanks Acosta!

I'm north of 60 and I could climb 30' of wall that looked like that. Like I said elsewhere, a class of apprentice structural Ironworkers would make a game of it, racing each other. Hell, if you're in decent physical shape It would take me 10 or 15 minutes to teach you to climb that wall.

No he really didn't. There are two videos. The one Fox is showing is the first one. Video number two shows him reaching the end of that barrier which then goes to a chain link fence.

Was your door locked? Did you advertise to the world that you never lock your door and there will be no consequence if they do break in and rewards if they do?

Walls work, except when and where they don't.

  • Test of steel prototype for border wall showed it could be sawed through
  • Five immigration problems no wall "works" to overcome
    • A lot of undocumented immigrants are already here
    • Cartels can outsmart checkpoints
    • Terrorists aren’t undocumented
    • It’s the economy, stupid
    • Immigration courts are already overwhelmed
  • Why the wall won't work:
    • Drug trade interdiction --> Most of the drugs brought into the United States do not come across areas where Trump would build his wall; instead, they come through legal ports of entry/
    • Illegal immigration --> Most illegal immigrants coming to this country bypass the hard way in: They do not make the long, dangerous trek across empty deserts where Trump’s unwelcoming wall would loom. Instead, they do it the easy way: They arrive in the United States on a legally obtained visa, and then overstay the visa. A border wall does literally nothing to solve this problem.
  • A Wall Won’t Secure the U.S.-Mexico Border, but Economic Policy Could
  • US Customs and Border Patrol Analysis --> Less than one-half of 1% of the solutions Border Patrol agents and sector chiefs proposed foreclosing capability gaps along the southwest border in FY 2017 referenced a “wall.” The Border Patrol identified a total of 902 southwest border capability gaps through its FY 2017 CGAP process. The word “wall” was suggested as a possible solution for just three of those gaps. (Source)

Yes I watched your video and sorry, but I kind of laughed at the idea that ditch would be much of a challenge.

Exactly. That's one of the sections to be improved.

You are basically just another uninformed denilist.

Security is always about time delay. So you are saying you can scale a 30 foot wall exactly as fast as you can take one step on open ground? Is that your claim?

I could break into any jewelry store and cut open any safe with tools I have. So could millions of other people. So why do you think jewelry stores have barriers against breaking in and safes? In your logic, they are absolutely worthless and don't even slow a person down allowing time for law enforcement to get on the scene. All security is about delay, not absolute prevention.

The best safes jewelry stores, which may contain hundreds of thousands or more in valuables, are "T-30" safes. Top quality home safes are "T-15" safes. The type of safes such as at Home Depot actually are fire safes looking like security safes and are "-T-5" safes.

T stands for time. The number stands for minutes. That is the amount of time it would take a person with ordinary tools to cut into the safe. At the most, 30 minutes. For the safes and many gun safes most people have in their homes? 5 minutes or less. A safe such as a T-60? I have two. No larger than an average large dresser and weighing about 6,000 pounds - with very little space inside. Rated at 1 hour. Virtually no one has those because they are very expensive and hold very little.

A border barrier is for 1 reason only. To slow entry down to hopefully allow time for border patrol to get there. No other purpose. It stops no one. It does slow everyone down. It is THAT simple.
