Donald Jr. is pwned by Anderson Cooper

Donald Trump Jr. seems to struggle at most things. Even on Twitter, where his father thrives like some pollution-resistant carp, the president's oldest son routinely stumbles into dumb, easily avoidable self-owns.

Over the weekend, Trump Jr. retweeted a photo of Anderson Cooper, up to his waist in flood water during CNN's hurricane coverage while a cameraman stands in ankle-deep water. While his tweet linked to a Breitbart article about CNN's ratings, it's clearly in line with his and his father's repeated attacks on news outlets in general and CNN in particular, which they often accuse of making up news.

The actual pwnage, from the link:

"I debated whether I should even respond tonight to the president’s son. I know he considers himself an outdoorsman and pays a lot of money to be led to wildlife in Africa that he then kills. But I’m not sure if he’s actually been to a hurricane or a flood. I didn’t see him down in North Carolina over the last few days helping out, lending a hand, but I’m sure he was doing something important besides just tweeting lies."

He continued, explaining that the photographed segment was actually from 2008, and was meant to show that floodwater can be deceptively deep, and it's difficult and dangerous to try to navigate on foot. (Writer's note: Having grown up in Louisiana and lived through multiple hurricanes, this checks out. You can't see a damn ditch when it's underwater.) Cooper concluded: “I don’t expect the president’s son to ever admit that he was wrong or one of the president’s advisers or frankly anyone else who’s retweeted any of these pictures. But I at least thought that they and you should know the truth.”

(There's more in the video at the link.)

That photo is hilarious ... even though 10 years old ... but then again we always knew that CNN never gave us the whole picture ...

Guess you missed the context of the report as stated above by only basing your opinion on a picture.

I see; then why is he having a whole segment, interviews and all, in waist-deep water when he could have interviewed that lady 10 feet away where his camera crew stood in ankle-deep water?!?
But of course, you'll probably tell me that the lady enjoyed putting on some rubber pants to join Cooper ... :lamo

How am I supposed to know why a reporter did a certain segment from 10 years ago a certain way? His explanation was to show the dangers of floodwater, seems logical to me. If they stood in ankle deep water it might not show exactly how you might suddenly find yourself no longer in ankle deep water even a couple feet away.

It's deceptive news if you are only framing the context of the newspot after you're called on it.

I saw another thing like this a few days ago where a news anchor was bracing against the wind in a hurricane and then two guys calmly walked by him in the background.

The news media in general is BS now, not just CNN. The fake news is everywhere because they use salaciousness to get ratings and profit. It's not about actual journalism.

Kudos to The Weekly Standard for standing up against false memes even when it's people on their side of the aisle circulating them.

....

The photos come from Cooper’s coverage of Hurricane Ike in 2008, in which he notes that “the rescue personnel, the vehicles coming through this water are able to drive on part of the road here, but just off to the side of the road the water just gets incredibly deep.” During this, the camera shows rescue vehicles driving on the road where the camera man is, correctly noting the different depths in each location. “If I step back even a few more feet,” Cooper continued, “I’d basically be up to my neck in water.”

In sharing these photos with captions suggesting that CNN was lying to viewers (as Donald Trump Jr. did), social media users have ironically become purveyors of misinformation themselves.

....

Don Jr. is a little dickwad, no doubt about that. I can't wait to see his arrogant, snotty face peering out from behind bars. I hope he gets sent to Manhattan to the Metropolitan Correctional Center. Joaquín Guzmán Loera is being held in that facility, oh yes, he goes by the name of 'El Chapo' and unfortunately is being held in solitary confinement, otherwise I think he'd make a perfect cellmate for slick-Donnyboy.

I don't like Don Jr......I hope he gets stomped by a Rhino next time he goes out to big game hunt

Barnacle doesn't work in media, just has an opinion and thinks that opinion is valid because she's read stuff on the internet. The circle of echo chambers.

So the apple hasn't fallen far from the tree.

You obviously didn't watch Coopers extensive rebuttal, including why he was in deeper water and why the crew was higher up, or all the times he mentioned it during the original broadcast.

Barnacle is just repeating the claim, barnacle didnt have access to these links back in 2008, so barnacle just posts what was given to Barnacle. By whom? Who knows.

That's how debating works, duh.

If it's Anderson Cooper, just believe Donnie Jr. that it's fake news.

That's how Trumpers like Barnacle operate. No critical thinking skills whatsoever.

Cooper was showing how quickly the water depth changed in a very short distance from the road to his right ( not shown in this pic,but shown in another portion of the segment.)

Barnacle just reposts memes. Barnacle has no power over who creates these memes. Barnacle had no power to determine the validity of these memes. Barnacle just reposts the meme and repeats.

That's why Barnacle's debating abilities and defense of memes are feared by all, and that's how debate works.

Duh.

I thought you might like it ... [emoji38]
You have no power over what memes to post, do you?

Someone just hands them to you, and you repost. Why debate when you can just floor threads with pictures.

It's pretty funny.
