From The Hill, which quotes a former Fox employee as saying, that Housley's "not doing the type of journalism he wants to be doing”:

A second Fox News reporter has reportedly left the network over the direction and “tone” of the news channel.

On-air senior correspondent Adam Housley has decided to leave because he disapproved of on-air discussions, former Fox News employees with knowledge of his situation told Politico on Friday.

Housley, who joined Fox in 2001 out of Los Angeles, disputed the story.

According to Politico, he told other former employees that it is difficult to get "hard reporting" on air because of the network’s focus on President Trump and its number of political commentators. http://thehill.com/homenews/media/403403-second-fox-news-reporter-leaves-network-report

I wish Housley well wherever he lands next.

He will not get on MSNBC, because they did bring into the network a former Fox News employee and her show was cancelled only after weeks seeing nobody interested in her comments on MSNBC.

Housley might not be looking for a journalism gig; he has other interests, including his family's winery.

We've been seeing quite a few exit from the FOX brotherhood. I read the FOX Effect, and it discusses these exits. Some of newcasters could not believe the spin that they were directed to use.

It's a given that over-reliance on focus groups and demographics does corrupt journo standards to some extend but in the end, when it comes to Murdoch, the bigger corrupting influence is the politics of the network ownership.

Some will cry "deep state conspiracy". That cry is utter BS. People know the difference.
It's the Murdoch Effect, and now it's the Trump Effect. Former Trump White House staffers can't seem to get anything outside of their own narrow little bubble either.

Never attribute to conspiracy what can be explained by profit. It is breaking Occam's razor to claim that the cable news network that has almost every top-20 rated show in cable news is driven by a high up corporate political conspiracy. They certainly STARTED as a counter to the left leaning cable news Networks, but the reason they continue is because it is wildly successful.

Pssst! There is a conservative under your bed!

Good grief, being in journalism or running a winery would be an instant no brainer for me in this day and age. lol...

It's also hard to make a living as a journalist. Fox and national news in general pays very well, and you have to have a very sharp pen (?) to keep a gig. There are only so many screen minutes in day.

He's more of a regional beat level talent. Plus, Fox has been trending toward younger anchors and contributors, and putting younger types in new programming formats. So he's thankful for what opportunities he had, and is thankful to take a respite from the grinder.

Face it. Trump is what is selling right now.

Footnote: I wonder when the Mueller thing ends what the networks will do? The networks are as much in the DNC's ear as their leadership about avoiding impeachment for the simple reason that it creates a conclusion. Neither the MSM or the DNC has a published plan as to what to do when the curtain closes on Russiagate and opens on Clintongate or "coup d etat" gate, or all the rest of the "gates". So what then?

Agreed, it's easy to imagine making 700 million dollars a year selling fear.
Excuse me, was somebody calling THIS "news"?

Let's face it J, Fox News Channel isn't pulling in 700 large reporting ordinary news from Bret Baier, Chris Wallace or Fred Barnes.
They're pulling in the money from Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, Tucker Carlson, Steve Doocy, Newt Gingrich, Tomi Lahren, Jeanine Pirro and Karl Rove.

And those people aren't reporting news, they're selling fear.

CNN and MSNBC aren't pulling their numbers from the actual news hours either. On the occasions that CNN ends up puling in the lead it is on the back of Maddow, not their news programming.

Also, who called Hannity news? It is as newsy as Maddow or any of the other pundit shows on any of the other cable news channels. The format of CNN, MSNBC and Fox are essentially identical. They are all selling their own brand of fear, be it illegal immigration, or Russian influence or something else.

You are just being silly to try and attribute Fox's ongoing programming decisions to some sort of dark conspiracy when success is the easier explanation.

....coming from one who tends to respond to Trumpian misconduct with.....

Mueller!

Hillary!

Deep state!

Soros!

A squirrel!

NO, really, a SQUIRREL! Over there, look!

I would argue that the format is NOT identical. I watched a CNN Town Hall, where Paul Ryan had the floor. Later, they had Bernie Sanders and Ted Cruz on a Town Hall together, discussing health care. You would not see that on FOX. But don't take my word for it. Look at any "bias" evaluation out there, and FOX always comes out as most bias. I always like to post this. No other News Network has ever stooped this low - Free Advertising and provision of key note speakers.

You have comprehension problems. I said that their success, all 700 million of it, is from selling FEAR.
Now, either you comprehend that above statement or you don't. I never said that there was a conspiracy, that's what your buddies on Fox are always pushing.
Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, Tucker Carlson, Steve Doocy, Newt Gingrich, Tomi Lahren, Jeanine Pirro and Karl Rove are not "the Checkers conspiracy", they're Murdoch's Fear Monger Cafe.

Maybe all that Fox watching is ruining your ability to understand simple declarative statements.
You should take a break.

Logical fallacies, you are soaking in them.

I think it is you who is having a comprehension problem. I stated that they all sell fear, which they do, so it would appear that their success has to do with something other than fear. Do you think rattling off names of Fox News employees is a real argument?

They certainly STARTED as a counter to the left leaning cable news Networks, but the reason they continue is because it is wildly successful.

Yeah, even Sarah Palin made multi-millions as a counter to the left, and she channeled Miss North Carolina on a regular basis. It can be a profitable gig.

I don't have a problem with news that has a conservative lean, because it serves it's purpose, but the way Fox conducts itself is pretty over the line most of the time. I am not surprised that conservative leaning journalists feel it's a negative atmosphere, and have no little options to work elsewhere.
