Former White House press secretary Sean Spicer said that he does not believe special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation is a witch hunt, contradicting a claim often repeated by President Donald Trump.

"As of now, I see no evidence that is it," Spicer said during an exclusive interview on "Today" when asked if Mueller's probe is a political witch hunt.

Spicer also said (from your citation):

I think it's very important to be clear that Russia meddled in our election and there's no evidence of collusion," Spicer said.

The "witch hunt" issue has always been about the effort to prove Trump colluded with Russia to get himself elected.

Trump could care less if Russia is found to have interfered, but his concern has always been how the Left has pushed the idea he was a knowing and willing co-conspirator and thus his election was a fraud.

We still have people in this Forum pushing this narrative on an almost daily basis.

You might want to read more threads here on DP. Including this one: https://www.debatepolitics.com/gene...lection-hack-2-weeks-before-inauguration.html

Look how quickly Swamp dwellers can turn on their leaders.

Who are these swamp dwellers? Who are these leaders?

Please...try to be more clear when you talk to me. I'm not a mind reader.

Yes. The witch hunt to prove Trump was in the middle of the 2016 meddling by Russia (and probably others) is the witch hunt to which Trump refers.

Personally, I think Mueller had too many conflicts of interest to be lead investigator he being the head of the FBI at one point and being Comey's best bud. Oh yes, I suspect Mueller to be a Never-Trumper.

I love it. The haters are now quoting a person they hated for uttering one thing they agree with.

They all say that. Rule of law, equality under the law and all that expired horse**** they teach to gullible high schoolers, they are shoveling back to you just because they know how stupid you are. "Don't believe your lying eyes!".

I think you underestimate how quickly the liberals are to forgive and forget. It's more like these people are paid to lie, when they are no longer in the swamp bubble, they tell the truth.

Not surprising. We have at least one person on DP who appears to not realize that the Soviet Union dissolved 30 years ago.

What you describe is being hypocritical.

Believe me...if Spicer said something y'all don't like, it'll be full-on attack mode against him...again.

Sigh. Always with the misdirection.

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive...nt-Robert-Mueller-Special-Counsel-Russia.html

In part:

(b) The Special Counsel is authorized to conduct the investigation confirmed by then-FBI Director James B. Comey in testimony before the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence on March 20, 2017, including:

(i) any links and/or coordination between the Russian government and individuals associated with the campaign of President Donald Trump; and

(ii) any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation; and

(iii) any other matters within the scope of 28 C.F.R. s. 600.4(a).

(c) If the Special Counsel believes it is necessary and appropriate, the Special Counsel is authorized to prosecute federal crimes arising from the investigation of these matters.

(d) Sections 600.4 through 600.10 of Title 28 of the Code of Federal Regulations are applicable to the special counsel.

28 C.F.R. s. 600.4(a):

(a) . . . The jurisdiction of a Special Counsel shall also include the authority to investigate and prosecute federal crimes committed in the course of, and with intent to interfere with, the Special Counsel's investigation, such as perjury, obstruction of justice, destruction of evidence, and intimidation of witnesses; and to conduct appeals arising out of the matter being investigated and/or prosecuted.

In reality, "witch hunt" was always Trump's word to dupe people into saying what you said. But the investigation was always broader. Trump likely would never have run into the slightest bit of trouble if he hadn't surrounded himself with a bunch of crooks with shady Russia ties, tried to discredit the investigation from the get-go, etc.

And of course, even the most specific part of Rosenstein's letter reads "any links and/or coordination between the Russian government and individuals associated with the campaign of President Donald Trump", not "collusion".

Enough with your smug lies.
