Trump calls The Sun Fake News

If they did leave stuff out that changed the context you have an argument that their reporting is disingenuous at best and ****ty at worst.

Which should have been expected...

His base, his supporters, his voters are not sad that their president puts their country first.
Time for you to learn a few things.
Hate is what people do who don't get their own way.... :)

Trum puts Trump first. If he cares about the country he wouldnt be tarnishing institutions like the FBI to protect himself from an investigation he says wont find anything.

Errr... you do know interviews are edited and proofed before publication! I've proofread and edited many phone interviews, and if they were printed verbatim, half of them would be barely legible. ALso, newspapers have size constraints.

Also, the Sun is pro-Brexit and is as close to being pro-Trump as any UK newspaper is. In fact, it might be completely pro-Trump.

So it would be OK for a news media to only print the negatives of someones statements in your view? You don't see a problem with that?

It's up to Mr. Swampy to prove what he is saying is the truth. Otherwise, I don't tend to believe him. Also since he sat down with The Sun I'm sure they tried their best to make it pro-trump..

I saw a sign calling the POTUS a ****.
Does that make you feel proud?

If "****" represents the word I assume it does, I think the characterization is spot on. While vulgar, the sign was directed at the president and one must do one's best to communicate with Trumpy in language that he is able to grasp. Pride does not enter into this one way or the other

Sanders? Sorry, but I usually need full names to get a gist of who you're talking about. I'm horrible with names to begin with so knowing just who you're talking about usually takes a refresher course for me. :3oops:

Sarah Huckabee Sanders

No worries. I thought about that when I proofread it but was lazy and in a hurry.

Today's news from Trumpy is that May is doing a superb job with Brexit and he can hardly wait to enter into a wonderful, best ever, trade agreement with Britain. Of course, this too could become fake news depending on how our leader is feeling tomorrow.

He has also said the trade agreements with GB might not happen, that is what happens when someone that is not stable gets elected to the WH.

Well, if the tabloid deliberately left out parts of the interview then yeah, I'd agree, fake news. It's fake news because its only presenting certain parts in order to portray a certain narrative. We'll just have to wait to see if the WH really does release the full recording. If they don't then Trump lied again.

You do know that "fake news" is about more than just reporting non-factual stories right? It is also about deliberately leaving out parts in order to portray a pre-arranged outcome. For example it would be like a news report that said that X person said "Y racial slur" and then leaving out the part where X person said it in a conversation designed specifically to talk about racial slurs. In other words the news media that ran that article specifically left out part of the facts in order to portray X Person as a bad person. So while the person did indeed use "Y racial slur" (fact) it wasn't in the way that the story portrayed it as simply because they left out other facts.

You do know what you call fake news many of us call it biased news. Using your definition every news source is subject to being called fake news if the reader feels 'important' parts of the story have been left out.

Trump's favorite news source- Hannity- is pure fake news using your interesting slant on the definition.

Fake news is making up 'facts', biased news is having an agenda when presenting the facts... :peace

Only if you take it to its broadest most extreme term.

Hannity btw isn't "news". It's an opinion show.

You do know that fake news is a term used by Trump to try and hide his lies and bs when he is pissed off or screws up, right?

So you wouldn't agree that giving false information is fake news?

Omitting information isn't the same as giving false information. Need any help moving those goal posts?

There's an awful lot of fake news filling Regent Street today, Trump believes hardly anyone turned up!
The thing I noticed from the various pics is the variety of posters. When you turn up at a demo there are always people with stacks of free placards pushing a particular point or group, but a big percentage of the ones on show this weekend have obviouslt been made on the kitchen table at home. One of the best I saw simply said "I'm so angry, I couldn't think of a smart slogan!"

Just out of curiosity do you know how easy it is to fake a large turn out with pictures? Don't get me wrong, I'm not doubting that there is a large turn out. Lots of people hate Trump. But without a link to some numbers a simple picture is not trust worthy enough.

Per BBC there's over 250,000 people there.

Yes, it is. It's called a lie by omission.

What Is a Lie of Omission?

A lie of omission is a lie in which someone deliberately withholds pertinent details about something in order to skew someone else's idea of the truth or engender a misconception. Although a lie of omission is not technically a lie because it contains no false information, it is still referred to as one colloquially because it is deliberately misleading.

Lie

Lying by omission, also known as a continuing misrepresentation or quote mining, occurs when an important fact is left out in order to foster a misconception. Lying by omission includes the failure to correct pre-existing misconceptions. For example, when the seller of a car declares it has been serviced regularly but does not tell that a fault was reported at the last service, the seller lies by omission. It can be compared to dissimulation. An omission is when a person tells most of the truth, but leaves out a few key facts that therefore completely change the story.[6]

Lie By Omission Law and Legal Definition

A lie of omission is an intentional failure to tell the truth in a situation requiring disclosure. An example could be a seller's failure to note a known defect on a real estate disclosure form.

I could give dozens upon dozens of links. All of them saying pretty much the same thing.
