CNN still relying on that debunked Puerto Rican death toll

Whether it is CNN's coverage on death tolls in Puerto Rico or anything else the narrative is presented in a way to demean anyone and everyone in the current administration to be totally incompetent or corrupt.

oh vesper, its a shame you didn't read past the first post before posting. If you had, you would have seen the OP's narrative being debunked. Next time, don't be in such a rush to obediently agree.

poor fled, if I had partisan blinders why would I take them off to complement you? I think you have VDS. You seem sane and normal when you're not whining, flailing and ignoring the facts I post. And you wouldn't be the first to have it.

Let's not contaminate this thread with Vern babble...

Let's adjourn to some other location.

I

The source of the “fuzzy number” was clearly explained in the CNN article and in your fact check article (contrary to your point). They even mentioned other sources that put the number in the 1000 range. This is a CNN article specifically about the Harvard study.

Hurricane Maria death toll may be more than 4,600 in Puerto Rico

this point will sail right over Vern's head, but normies get it.

thank you for repeating your point HT. I'm not sure but I think politely asked you to back up your point not repeat it. I'm not sure of the relevance of calendar years in regard to a hurricane that hit in Sept but it will be good to see what you're basing your point on. thanks in advance

Backing up Vern on the "honesty" thing?

Not a bright move.

He's not "backing me up on anything". He's simply agreeing with my clear and straight forward point. and fled, my point is my clear and straight forward right there for all to read and (this is key) its there for you to dissect, dispute, rebut, add context, spell check or whatever your heart desires. I didn't assure you I was right and the OP was wrong. I didn't say I don't have to back up my point. I didn't claim others have already backed up my point. I didn't post "nuh uh" over and over. I made a clear and straight forward point and posted the relevant links. How crazy is that?

Blah blah Vernbabble blah blah...

See fled, you are capable of making honest and intelligent points. And this is not the first time I've seen it. Why are you afraid to be honest and intelligent all the time?

Why are you not addressing Mizzy's post? Probably because you agree with her ridiculous allegation.

Every one who died, that could have lived, because Trump denied aid, their blood is on Trump!

More people could be alive if Puerto Rico had managed itself properly. The electric grid has been caveman for years. Clearly they are corrupt. Building standards are outdated. They have been in the hurricane zone for centuries, they need to get a ****ing clue.

Is that your excuse for letting Trump ignore PR?

er uh American. Fled addressed it. I complimented Fled addressing it. Trump has blood on his hands just not every death and mizzy restated it with less hyperbole. But now that I know you think every poster should deal with over the top comments you should address HT's falsehoods. You should also tell her when someone asks her to back up a point she should do it. Now that she has attempted to back up her point, its easy to see why she was hesitant. do you want me to direct to you other threads where she refuses to back up her claims?

there, that's the fled that afraid to make honest and intelligent points. I made a clear straight forward point and you post some juvenile deflection. Since your fear manifests itself when I'm involved I have to conclude VDS.

I read the story. A legitimate source says anywhere from 800 to 8000 people may have died. Why not address your falsehood that "without explaining how fuzzy the number really is". They clearly explained it. Remember, you're accusing me of partisanship.

HT, this is a debate forum. When you are asked to back up a point, you should just do it. But I see why you were so hesitant to re-post it. I knew your "calendar year" point was flawed but I just didn't know how much. Now I know: completely. First off, even if the death toll in calendar year 2017 was lower, it wouldn't change the fact that 1400 more people died in the 2.5 months following Maria. That alone should have had you "pumping the brakes" on your narrative. Had you made the image you posted in the other thread just a little bigger we would have gotten this nugget

Source: CIA World Factbook - Unless otherwise noted, information in this page is accurate as of June 30, 2015

Had you gone to the CIA World Factbook site, the source of that data, you would have clearly seen that 2017 was an estimate.

8.6 deaths/1,000 population (2017 est.)

And its not a big deal but PR lost about 10% of its population after Maria. So now that you understand that you didn't post actual data but an estimate (and probably from before Maria) don't you think you should reconsider your point?

More Vernbabble...

Fled, I'm not in 3rd grade nor am I a conservative (or conservative like poster). Your juvenile responses simply have no effect on me. They only tell me I'm right. If I was wrong, you could point out the flaws in my logic the way I did so easily with Klat and HT but you cant. Its a pity too because unlike a Klat or an HT, you have the capability to be honest and intelligent. You simply choose not to use it.

My source, and my post were spot-on. Your thinking is off -- again. Nothing you posted makes a lick of sense. I posted the exact totals and I never claimed there were not increased deaths from Maria -- had your reading comprehension been better, you would have known that.

This is your second screwup, bud, a third time and you're done.

HT, you just don't get to post I've somehow screwed up by pointing out the falsehoods you've posted. I simply pointed out that your "totals" for 2017 deaths was an estimate. You have either lost all contact with reality or are dishonest. But HT, if my thinking is "off", you simply have to explain it how its off. How is me showing your "totals" was just an estimate a failure of my thinking? thanks in advance.

and fyi, you don't need to make excuses to cut and run from the facts. Just cut and run.

Hey "American", HT is using estimates of 2017 deaths per 1000 to dispute the Harvard Study. Please address HT's falsehoods.

You could have sent money and supplies, but didn't. I blame you.

Nobody knows and likely nobody will know because we cant agree in definitions (is someone who dies 6 months later after their diabetes was out of control due to lack of meds for two months dead because of the storm?) and because the government on the island is deeply terrible.

More Vernbabble...

Hey fled, can you pretend I'm not in the thread and explain to HT that she posted an estimate of deaths in PR for 2017. I told her but she did that thing you do when I post facts: ignored it, whined about me. thanks in advance.
