I can’t believe we buy this **** , Could it possibly be that this current level of divisiveness that we see, is all for the sake of ratings? No please listen; It’s all about profit through political confrontation, and we are nothing but spectators. The media creates division to enhance their audience, divide further from their competition as to insure their party line, they divide we listen. Hannity and his counter parts are alarmist that feed on contrived stories leaving their audience with no means of deciphering the truth. This puts the opposing network of CNN with having to feed Anderson Cooper and Don Lemon their contrived story to embellish their audience. Either side must have the edge regardless of the outcome or the resultant effects of their exaggeration and interpretation of the truth.
Think of your political party back say 60 years ago when Nixon and Kennedy ran in 1958, they weren’t that far apart. Try to imagine a large V the two vertical lines represent the two parties at the bottom of the V is 1958 at the top of the V is today, that’s the change I see in division. Views have moved from being slightly apart on some issues to 180 degrees apart on all issues with no resolution insight. That separation at the top of the V is caused by the opposing views of the media and there having to create that division to maintain their ratings. Think of the V as a wish bone as two sides struggle to tear it apart through divisiveness.
It’s a lot Trump but it’s also a lot The News.

Profit is certainly a strong motive, but it is not the only motive.

Manipulation of the public perception is also a very strong motive. If the public perception can be controlled, much of the time the public behavior can also be controlled. When people perceive things a certain way, they often behave accordingly.

A cynical view, to be sure, but that doesn't make it wrong.
