I think the results of the poll (actively going on now) speak volumes about how reporting at MSM outlets across the board has become so strongly biased and lacks integrity. They don't even hide it anymore.

How much trust do you have in the media when it comes to news?
  • 11%A great deal
  • 26%A fair amount
  • 37%Not much
  • 26%None at all

Even worse for Trump's first 100 days in office.

Not sure what the link goes to. It was blocked as a virus.

Huh? I wouldn't post anything with a virus.

But this thread is about MSM and trust in the media in general across the board. Not Trump.

Take it or leave it, the untrustworthy media has a liberal bias, Trump or no Trump

Bitdefender gave that warning for the link. It's not you, I'm just letting you know.

I agree about the media bias (definitely left). I'm surprised that so many (obviously on both sides) don't trust them.

I have virus detection on and I got no such warning.

But moving on, glad you finally understood the point I was making.
I went to your MSN link, and just to let you know, you poll is unscientific. More like those polls we see on Twitter that don't count for much.
But there are reliable polls out there, (Gallup and Pew) that show more people find the MSM untrustworthy than trustworthy.

Yeah... totally get it that the poll is unscientific. Probably why I trust the results more.

This is great. You trust an unscientific poll concerning media posted by an online media site. :naughty

It's a troll poll, pure and simple. It has no validity. None.

Having said that I would not be at all surprised that a measurable amount of people don't trust "the media" when it comes to news. In part it depends on the age of the "news" consumer. Younger people turn to online news more than their parents and grandparents who likely look toward television and print media.

Television "news" isn't news. It is infotainment, packaged to entertain while briefly skimming news highlights. In depth reporting doesn't do well on television. It's a whore's game. Often, however, when people think of "media", it is television they consider.

Online news and social media are like the wild, wild west. They cannot be trusted. That shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.

There's value and truth and good information online but it is every man or woman for themselves. Cambridge Analytica proved that. In fact it may be that the term "fake news" was purposely foisted on the world by Cambridge Analytica.

Huh?

You trust what can't be validated because by definition it hasn't been determined to be factually correct.

It is just unmassaged raw data and I appreciate that. Sometimes, the folks scientifically massaging the data results to determine what they want to portray as factually correct are in fact....biased towards a certain outcome.

It's really just a poll by MSN that half a million people clicked an answer to with four possible answers to choose from. Nothing more, nothing less.

I just found it interesting.

487,967 people took the time to click an option to make their opinion known. I appreciate that raw data and found it interesting, and you take umbrage with it and quickly declare it invalid. We will have to agree to disagree.

Unless they are talking about the weather, I consider virtually every story on MSM to be propaganda for some agenda or the other advanced by government and corporations.

Sadly... many times they can't even be trusted on the weather either! lol

I'm not surprised. Working at home allot, I usually have one or another news station on in the background. Most of its an assault on the senses.
One thing I find interesting is the bare lip-service given the European issues. Oh well... I think very soon NATO and the EU are in for a rude awakening.

If I want unbiased news, I find reading headlines only helps, but even so I need to find a few sources in order to get the raw facts. Most news today is chalk full of speculation. I oddly enough find Al Jezeera fairly comprehensive and fact-based.

I get a lot of my news from YouTube videos. The MSM news stories are all the same. Even on the Sunday morning political talk shows, they cover the same news. You'd think they'd get together and say, "OK, you guys do this story and we'll do this one". But no. Meet the Press, Face the Nation and all the other programs have the same guests talking about the same stuff. I guess this is what happens when ownership of the media is concentrated in just a few hands.

But still, it would be interesting to know the trust people had in MSM before Trump announced his candidacy in June 2015...

Sure looks like there might be a direct connection to Trump and the drastic drop in trust of MSM by republicans.

I highly doubt the 450k or so respondents to that poll were all republicans. I think there is a MSM crisis across the board.

I never suggested they were.

It's self selected input, rather than unbiased input.
