I am so happy to be seeing this. This type of viral crap website whether they be conservative or liberal, suck and are annoying for anyone who has an attention span longer than five seconds. They hurt everything that the internet was built and intended for.

According to Axios, which first reported the news, the demise of Rare.us is another example of a viral site built on Facebook’s traffic that could not survive the platform’s algorithm change to its News Feed, now prioritizing posts from friends and family over publisher content.

Some graphs here: https://theoutline.com/post/3599/co...by-facebook-news-feed-change?zd=2&zi=d3yobbtj

The sites that used Facebook the most:

1. Topix.com (with 48.2% over total traffic coming from social)

2. Vice.com (48.1%)

3. Standardnews.com (44.2%)

4. Independent.co.uk (43.7%)

5. Rawstory.com (38.2%)

6. Buzzfeed.com (38.0%)

This should be applauded, but for some reason I think it will be mostly mocked here. Let's see.

Mixed feelings here. I quit FB when people I once knew began pushing flat earth crap. It reminded me why I never hung around them after HIgh School or bothered to look them up in R/L

So, there is that.

I have blocked most of my friends because they share fake crap. I am still friends with them, but hide their timelines. If I want to see what they are up to I just click on their names. The rest I have on my FB wall is just news/media publications, mostly tech and some politics.

Not fond of them deciding what is and isn't "fake news". They're supposed to be a social media site, not a site that determines what is and isn't fake. But its their site.

Yeah well, I am not going to shed a tear for Pamela Geller, InfoWars, NaturalNews and Breitbart not being able to GAME the system anymore.

Would you care if they did the same to CNN? MSNBC? CBS? Where do you draw the line? When do you start saying "Enough is enough! Not your job to tell me what I should/shouldn't listen to!"?

You're comparing apples to bananas. Pamela Geller, InfoWars, NaturalNews and Breitbart are not MSM news by any stretch of the imagination.

So, Facebook censors right political views and outlets. This is not news. If you want to be told what you can see/hear, fine. One of many reasons why I have never, and will never, have a Facebook account.

Ah so its perfectly OK for them to allow "news" that is established (and that they happen to agree with) but any and all other outlets need to be shut out? Seems to me like you're promoting a monopoly. Tell me, was CNN et al considered MSM when they started out?

Yeah, it's OK for established credible news sources. The news is meant to inform, not to validate opinions.

:lamo Then I sure as heck hope that you don't listen to Fox, CNN, MSNBC et al. Because they are all about opinions with a little news mixed in.

Sure, they have their opinion and commentary shows...but they also have news departments with real reporters and journalists that report just the news...objectively.

Sure. You keep believing that.

Seeing as they are getting a massive amount of support from the social media giant. I doubt that would ever happen.

Yet they still peddle fake news and the thing that protects them, is that they are part of the MSM machine?

How is that supposed to work?

Yeah, after getting banned for posting statistical information. I have pretty much given up on that waste of a social engineering experiment.

I guess you haven't been watching the mainstream news lately then?

Because this crap is anything but objective.

Seems to me they are right on the money well over 90% of the time.

Lol....I bet I know exactly what you posted. And, why it got you banned.

Have you ever did your own investigation of these sites, or are you just talking someone else’s word about it.
What gives anybody the right to decide what I choose to listen to, I personally don’t think infowars lies anymore than the MSM

Your intuition is correct, the list includes numerous sites that are notorious liars and all lean left.,

Hello. You can still share dumb opinions on facebook. They just custom tailored their algorithms towards a more restrictive criteria that makes it harder to spread opinion based crap. You can't seriously believe that the sites I listed are more reputable than the MSM can you?
