Smith doesn’t use the company playbook, how much latitude does he have?

They tolerate Smith for the illusion of being fair and balanced.

I don't know, but I enjoy his newscasts.

I appreciate Shep, but in all honestly, a good anchor is one where I am not sure of which side they lean. He used to be that way, but it's almost like he feels the need to voice his opinions now.

I think I might agree, there. He has slipped more liberal & anti-administration as of late to me, as well.

Thing is, Fox has gone hard-core pro administration, so I wonder if we're noticing the contrast with Shep even more?

But Sheppy is not alone; Brett Baier and Neil Cavuto are right behind him. They are on the extreme side ... definitely anti-Trump.

Then you have the luke-warm bunch who are trying to make a name for themselves while holding on to their well-paid job.
Their opinions, touted as being analyses, are at best mediocre: nothing real bad about Trump, nothing real good about Trump.

And then you have the morning entertainment group: Fox & Friends definitely pro Trump.
Same as The Five at Five, Tucker and Hannity.

So, for a conservative Trump supporter Fox offers only early morning info and early evening.
The in-between times are reserved for the liberals.

A true fair and balanced.

I disagree.

We all have ideological opinions and there's nothing wrong with expressing them, even in reporting or scientific circles. So long as it doesn't effect their ability to report facts, I think it's tolerable.

Unfortunately, most FOX hosts use the the 'opinion' label as an excuse for abusing the public trust with misinformation.

It's not often we agree on something, but that's the case in this instance.

I used to regard Shepard Smith's show as "hard news" just like Special Report, the show that precedes it... but that's no longer the case and that's a shame. I value unbiased, commentary-free news programs and unfortunately Shepard Smith's show is no longer in that catagory.

I may be a conservative but when it comes to hard news, I just want facts.... facts that are presented free from political opinion and bias of any kind, regardless of what side it's coming from.

.

Same here, they are the best at election coverage by far, otherwise I stay clear of them.

John King is second to none.

I totally disagree when it come to the news.

News is supposed to be the opinion-free presentation of all the facts that surround a story or event, allowing the viewers to form their own opinions and conclusions. When it comes to political news, there is nothing wrong with reporting the reactions of politicians in DC, as long as reactions from both sides of the political isle are equally represented. Political opinion has no business being injected into the hard news PERIOD. People should be allowed to think for themselves.

I don't like Shepherd Smith's style, he's too monotone, so replacing him would be OK. Put Harris Faulkner in his slot.

The news has never, in the entirety of human history, been "the opinion-free presentation of all the facts that surround a story or event." I'd go as far as to say that ideal is impossible to achieve.

There are less biased news sources and more biased news sources. But a human being cannot eliminate bias. That's why it's on people to not watch flash-bang infotainment and instead read a variety of sources biased in different directions.

It was fun watching CNN during the last election.
Not during the 6 months prior to the election. The run up coverage was painfully biased. Election night...that was a little different. The best election night coverage was TYT.

And of course...I love the conclusion. We just handed the country to a fascist. A Dictator. A Nazi. Hitler reincarnated. Well hell...I guess we fully understand now why the Founding Fathers wrote the 2nd Amendment...right?

Smith is a absolute hack, and Im guessing Fox still employs him so they can continue to claim the moniker of " fair and balanced "

He embarrassed himself ( again ) with his low information take on Uranium One. The Left loved it of-course
