Don Jr Tries to Discredit Kids

That's an example of what I was saying.
At times it's difficult to distinguish between organic activism springing from murders like these, and political activism exploiting murders like these.
It helps to identify who's involved.
The students have been praised as articulate but it should ring an alarm when they all repeat by rote the same phrases with nary a stumble as though from a script.
In this case State Senator Book assisted Corin who is one of the core student activists in her group.
Book is an activist in her own right.
Student activism like this is easy to manipulate and fund by hard core activists and then promote by media.

You mean like the conservatives, stormers, gun-worshippers, anti-immigrant, anti-voting rights, conspiracy theorists here?

OT
Question. If someone posts close to a hundred times in less than a 12 hour period, would that be considered trolling?

These three more than deserve these medals. Any branch of the military would have been proud to accept these fine women and men.

Indeed and USMA at West Point has admitted posthumously the JROTC Cadet Peter Wang who had the true and credible ambition to become an academy cadet. Army Cadet Command has awarded the Army JROTC Medal of Heroism to Wang and to murdered fellow Cadets Alaina Petty and Martin Duque, both 14. Wang was 15.

Major General Christopher P. Hughes commander of Cadet Command said several cadets are being considered for the JROTC Medal of Heroism. Had Peter Wang not been murdered in the mass murder and all things being equal he could have continued to be in the chain of command of Army Cadet Command at West Point.

West Point posthumously admits JROTC student killed in school shooting

A 15-year-old high school student who died helping classmates escape from a gunman at a Florida high school last week was posthumously accepted to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point on Tuesday.

Peter Wang earned admission to the prestigious military academy for his "heroic actions on Feb. 14, 2018," at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., West Point said in a statement. Witnesses and authorities said Wang, who dreamt of attending West Point, died in his JROTC uniform while holding a school door open so classmates and faculty could escape. Wang was one of 17 people gunned down during the shooting.

West Point Capt. Shahin Uddin was flown to South Florida to provide the posthumous letter to the family during the funeral. Cadet Wang was buried in his JROTC uniform on Tuesday bearing the Medal of Heroism.

"Peter Wang lost his life in service to others. The U.S. Military Academy honors Peter Wang with an honorary admission for his bravery and selflessness.

"One of West Point's priorities is to develop leaders of character who are committed to the values of Duty, Honor, and Country. Peter Wang's actions on February 14th are an example of those very principles and for this reason the academy honors his dream of being a West Point cadet with a 2025 letter of acceptance.

"We honor Peter Wang for being a leader of character and we send our condolences to the families of all the victims."
--- Lieutenant General Robert L. Caslen Jr., Superintendent

Oh, worry not. The gun lobby will never get this anywhere, anyway. When 20 kindergartners got mowed down in cold blood, and it was excused, and when nothing happened, I knew then that there would never be any common sense gun legislation. When you can look past 20 kindergartners getting killed 10 days before Christmas, and still refuse to do anything about it, that's it. We are done as a country. We are spiraling down the drain.

You ****ing people can't even let victims of a mass shooting get upset anymore, without telling them they deserve the ire we heap upon them.

Absolutely disgusting. I hate where we are as a country right now. I do. I hate it. I never thought I'd say that, but I hate what we have devolved to.

We have literally turned into a ****hole country.

In some ways, Trump is the perfect representation of what this country has become. It's sad really.

These kids can speak all they want, but their words have to be put in the proper perspective. The speak strictly from emotion, not wisdom.

lol.

You people elected a Reality T.V . Star birther based on emotion, not "wisdom", so your post is truly ironic in so many ways.

COUNTERPOINT:

The line of Hillary’s during the campaign that there’s this ‘basket of deplorables,’ for me, is a deplorable thing to think about our fellow citizens if we’re going to continue as a polis, they feel ignored. To call them nuts is giving yourself permission to ignore them even more, which repeats and exacerbates the problem.”
Jonathan Lear, a professor of philosophy at the University of Chicago

This debate was made political as soon as the little monsters rejected people's thoughts and prayers and embraced one political position over another. Game on, let the chips fall where they may. These "kids" demand that their opinions are treated like an adults, I am going to respect them by treating them like I would treat an adult who pushes the same stupidity as they are. You got a problem with that?

"Rejected thoughts and prayers"?

You say that like it's a bad thing.

I know they did.
That's part of what I'm talking about.
Who sponsored/paid for the bus trip?

Maybe they did. Maybe their parents did. Maybe they started a Go Fund Me campaign. Maybe an anti-gun liberal did. Maybe their local school board did. Maybe they sacrificed their prom budget for it.

Why does it matter?

"Little monsters". That must be some more of that empathy you tried to tell us you had, but nobody with a working brain cell believed.

"Thoughts and Prayers" is simply the NRA/gun nuts talking point to avoid dealing with the issue. We are done. The NRA and gun nuts CAN take their thoughts and prayers and shove them up their ass....because their "thoughts and prayers" are empty. They don't give a damn about these kids. They are collateral damage to their biggest cause.

“Don't try to put new laws in place that don't fix these problems," said Scalise, who was gravely wounded on June 14 when a shooter opened fire on the GOP's congressional baseball team as members practiced in Virginia. "They only make it harder for law-abiding citizens to own a gun.”

I really doubt Senator Book is trying to manipulate student survivors.

How about take political advantage of students willing to be taken advantage of?

She is a survivor of child abuse , a renowned child advocate, and a former classroom teacher

She was a survivor herself , a survivor of child abuse, not a school shooting , a survivor however.

As a survivor she can relate to these students and she used about $10,000 of her own money to pay for the charter buses.

I know she is ... that's why I said she was an activist herself.

Who do you think you are to dissect the motives of our grieving students and parents?
The dead weight of this nation is currently sinking to the bottom of this ****hole by attacking our students.

The only good thing about the current generation of gun-addicts, gun-abusers, gun-enablers, and gun-apologists
is that they will die in the next few decades, hopefully in the peace our dead students never got to know.

The sickest among us are now leading this Nation to ruin, and this generation of students will put that sickness to rest.
Who among us would NOT sponsor a bus for our grieving students and kids directly affected by another slaughter of our fellow Americans?

We will continue to lose every battle against these WMD assault weapons, weapons of massacre and death.
Infinitely more important, we will win this war against the NRA/GOP,
which passed a law one year ago to make it easier for mentally ill patients to legally buy these assault weapons ...

Drama queen much Nimby?

Why does it matter?

It may matter because it's a factor for anyone who wants to determine if what they're watching is an organic movement or a manufactured one.
Why that matters should have been obvious even before Mueller's Russian indictments and the dossier.
It's manipulation and it happens all the time and it's done by everyone.
I'm sure that can't be a surprise to you.

Have you heard about CNN and their school shooting townhall?
One of the invited Florida students claimed he was given a scripted question by CNN to ask and he wouldn't do it.
CNN issued denials.
But is it something you would you like to know if it's true? Does it matter?

Yup. This is what you get when you have a country addicted to reality TV. Trump was brought to us mostly by the people who watch Duck Dynasty and the Kardashians. They think "reality TV" is real.

Survivors understand that other survivors need to share their experience and how they can keep themselves and perhaps others safe in the future.

That’s a big part of the healing process.

Let them speak out . 17 classmates and teachers were killed and each one of these shooting survivors who is speaking out now knows that he or she could have easily been among dead.

These people aren't interesting in protecting kids, just attacking them.
Their sick diatribes against our students should have been expected, but couldn't be by people like you and I.

The biggest problem I'm seeing in real time is how devastated the faculty and staff are, seeing this generation of kids scarred for life. I'm retired, but still active in my fields. It was easy to predict how resilient the kids would be.

The staff now talks of taking a bullet for their kids, as the NRA/GOP wants to turn their school into a war zone.
It is not a stretch for me to say our schools have become America's killing fields.

Please know how much I believe in these students, the new Leaders and Conscience of this Nation ...

So you think these kids are too stupid to have opinions.

CNN denied that student's story . I think the truth is probably somewhere in the middle, since it was his father who withdrew him from the Town Hall. Oh, but wait - he's probably the only kid in Parkland capable of making his own organic decision, amirite? His father couldn't possibly have manufactured it. Only the parents of the other kids.

I think when bullets come into your class room and massacre seventeen of your peers, you've earned the right to be labeled as being a part of the "real world" by the rest of society.

Then again, I'm probably asking too much from the ego centered right-wing.

Excellent point. I will go one step further: when the bullets hit your classroom and you are the witness of carnage and death of friends and loved ones, you have a superior claim to "real world" than the critics that sit in the comfort of their living rooms, who's tragedy is the batteries in that the remote are dead.

Reprehensible! May the Lord have mercy on their cold souls.

Those are truisms.
Here's another truism that some might not be aware of depending on their source of news ... not all of the survivors agree with the solutions the "articulate" ones propose and will not be feted like they are at CNN because of it.

I already said CNN denied it. It was an example. Why don't you buy CNN's denial outright and completely?
