Don Jr Tries to Discredit Kids

Emotion is never a good way to enact policy....

This is not something Democrats understand. And unfortunately...republicans sometimes forget too. Patriot act being a good example.

If we want to solve violence...we need better laws on enacting mental health care on someone against their will. And/or we need improved and clearer processes for seeing a mental health professional. And what is and is not covered. We also primarily need to handle the stupid drug laws as well.

So you don't know, your assuming that they all share the same opinion.

I see you had trouble finding a kid who was speaking up for you pro-gun nuts afterwards, huh?

I would be very wary of sharing any pro-gun opinion if I was a kid at that school. I might change my mind after the horror of what I just experienced.

True, I take that back.

as I said above they have a right to their opinions but their opinions are not immune to being attacked back. You can't call for a national debate and then tell people you don't agree with that they don't have the same right to an opinion on something that affects all of us. One opinion does not get to lecture everyone on how it's going to be and then hide behind traumatic event to shield their opinions from criticism. It's a dishonest approach.

Wrong, what is dishonest is Trump Jr claiming that the kids are lying because one of them has a father who used to work for the FBI

Why cant you just admit that Trump is lying about these young children?

So you don't know, your assuming that they all share the same opinion.

Trump is assuming the kids are part of a conspiracy just because one of them has a dad who is ex-FBI

Why wont you say anything about what Trump is tweeting? After all, it is the subject of this thread

Because I dont know if he is wrong or not.

"Thoughts and Prayers" is simply the NRA/gun nuts talking point to avoid dealing with the issue. We are done. The NRA and gun nuts CAN take their thoughts and prayers and shove them up their ass....because their "thoughts and prayers" are empty. They don't give a damn about these kids. They are collateral damage to their biggest cause.

If thoughts and prayers are so effective, why does the President need the secret service to protect him>?

Wow!! It is OK to smear kids if you cant prove that it is wrong, but it is wrong to smear Trump if you cant prove that you are right

Shows how deplorable trump supporters are

Its no more wrong than the levels the left stoop to against those they disagree with. I guess that means the deplorables are in good company.

What is the lie?

The conspiracy theories being spewed are rather clearly lies.

There is no evidence that the student is "covering for his father" and the entire idea is based on the hatred Trump cultists have for the FBI.

See that's the difference here between myself and the people im arguing with. I don't begrudge you your right to express that opinion. I don't have to agree with you to respect your right to express yourself. I am not running around telling people who think more gun control will lead to less massacres to sit down and shut up. That message is coming from the other side.

Oh....but that's where your wrong. The NRA and the pro-gun nuts have for years been telling anyone who speaks out against gun violence to sit down and shut up...but they do it much much much more subtley. For years we were told "its too soon to talk about it" or the "bodies aren't even cold"....we've been told that speaking out against gun violence is "disrespecting the dead and the families". We have been told that we have to have "moments of silence" and "thoughts and prayers" rather being vigilant. Anyone who spoke up was deemed to be "politicizing" the dead. Well....we've had it. We've had enough. We are not going to be shamed and silenced by the talking points of the NRA and the tactics of the gun nuts any longer. No more silence.

Right. How dare he have a political opinion about guns when 17 people he knew just got blown away.

Jr. once again proves that money does not equate to class. Just shut the **** up and let these kids grieve in the best way they know how. This is working for them. Let them have it while they can. It doesn't cost a dime to be a decent human being.

What you really mean: how dare anyone disagree with his political opinion.

well the "criticisms and challenges" are lies, which the President's son shouldn't be spreading.

It isn't a lie that these kids are demanding unconstitutional laws be passed.

You have not heard any of that from me. While i do agree with the pro gun side more than the anti gun side you will not hear me disparage anyone who has an opinion different from my own opinion. What i do lash out against is people who try to impune a persons character for not being liked minded with their belief.

I dont know you but i think its a fair assumption to make that your intent comes from a good place, so i arbor no bad will toward you. I just accept that we believe in which path is better toward our common goal.

We are not enemies, we are opponents. If that makes sense

There are some truly disturbing people in this thread. I am pro gun. I don't think gun laws will fix anything but I will not stand for the hateful crap being spewed toward these victims in the name of protecting gun laws. The fact that these kids are speaking about what happened to them and voicing their opinions shouldn't make them an enemy or ok for you to target. Make a better case and help them understand. You don't attack children days after they experienced this type of event because they won't follow your political agenda. What the **** is wrong with you people?

When has the son of a democratic president tried to smear children with conspiracy theories?
