In a series of tweets on Sunday afternoon, author and MSNBC contributor Kurt Eichenwald tore into Fox News personality Jesse Watters for running a “slanderous” report on him that is leading to death threats against the journalist and his family.

According to Eichenwald, “a false line of attack about me from an online white supremacist conversation came flying out of @JesseWatters’ mouth,” and that Watters “did no reporting, failed to seek comment, and when I emailed him, demanding he call me to discuss his slander, he refused.”

Eichenwald posted a screenshot of the January 9th email he sent to Watters, which reads, in part: “I have now contacted you three times asking you to call me regarding your false, slanderous report. You accused me of being a pervert and a liar without performing even basic reporting, indeed not even reporting on tweets that put statements in context.”

He added, “You did so with full awareness that Fox viewers have come to my home to threaten me following your false reports.”

“I will not be the next George Tiller,” Eichenwald stated, referencing the Wichita physician who was murdered in cold blood by an anti-abortion zealot not long after former Fox News personality Bill O’Reilly attacked him on the air, calling him “Killer Tiller.”

Kurt Eichenwald’s life has been threatened before: in 2016 he had received a viral message containing an animation that caused Eichenwald to suffer an epileptic seizure. The man who sent that message was arrested in March 2017.

Jesse Watters is a hack. Never liked him. I have defended him before, but I never thought he should been anything more than a man on the street. He is not anchor worthy and always comes off with a smug attitude.

So here we have a reporter not diggin into the full facts and just running stories.
Sounds like MSNB and CNN do this all the time but hey we are ok when the liberals do it but if republicans do it oh nooo no no no no

No, they don't. You are misinformed. A Fox viewer.

Apparently he doesn't like getting the same treatment his own outlet gives to so many.

Something tells me, introspection isn't a personality trait that any of these people at MSNBC possess.

Here is the report he is referring to:

...and btw in case anyone is interested, Jesse Watters is not a journalist, not a reporter, and has nothing to do with the "news". He hosts a one hour political opinion show that airs once a week.

Then why is he on a news channel? Unless Fox News is not a news channel and should just be Fox Infotainment.

He & Greg Gutfeld are two of the smuggest assholes I've ever seen, even in real life.

That they both end-up at not just Fox, but on the same damn show, speaks volumes to Fox and its viewers.

Greg Gutfeld has to be the most painful conservative "comedian" to listen to outside of Dennis Miller. His jokes are so bad, you can tell half the time his co-hosts have no idea how what he said was supposed to be in any way funny, and have to be reminded to laugh by the producers offset.

I just keep expecting a trap door to fall out from underneath him after one his on air bombs, but FOX just keeps putting his lame ass on there.

How many opinion shows are on MSNBC? CNN?

Is MSNBC the place for opinion?

^^^ Old news, but its enough to substantiate what I am saying and showing why your question and statement is about as dishonest and partisan as it can be.

So, is anything Watters said true? Or perhaps a more appropriate question...is any of it false? I don't know either of these personalities so wouldn't know.

I think US news media outfits are too obessed with opinions and do not focus enough on facts and true investigative journalism.

Jesse Watters is not a journalist so he's under no obligation to fact check anything as long as he's not promoting violence, engaging in slander, or documenting libel. It sounds like Eichenwald doesn't like getting as good as he gives.

I went through them just to see what I could find out:

The first 4 were criticisms by Watters of tweets written by Eichenwald, and nobody, including Eichenwald himself, has claimed that they weren't legitimate.

Next, was a story written by Eichenwald saying Right wing extremists were a bigger threat to America, and responsible for more deaths than Islamic extremists. Eichenwald's claim was based on a report by The New America Foundation, a liberal think-tank run by Anne-Marie Slaughter, who was director of policy planning in the Obama State Department from 2009 to 2011. They are not only funded by many George Soros and far left organisations, but George Soros's son Jonathan sits on their executive board. Watters said it wasn't true and based on an April 2017 report by the Government Accountability Office, he is correct. That report concluded that: "Between 12 September 2001 and 31 December 2016, there were 23 fatal “Radical Islamist Violent Extremist-Motivated Attacks,” resulting in a total of 119 deaths in the United States. In the same time period, there were 62 fatal “far-right violent extremist-motivated attacks”, leading to 106 deaths." You need to decide which source is more credible... Personally, I'm going with the GAO

Next, another tweet where Eichenwald claimed the crowd booed John Glenn when Trump mentioned his death at a political rally. Watters said that was lie, and the crowd wasn't booing Glenn, but instead booing anti-Trump protesters that were in attendance. Watters was absolutely correct and Eichenwald ended up retracting his claim.

Next, Watters criticized Eichenwald's claim that Trump had been institutionalized in a mental facility years ago. A claim that to this day has never substantiated by Eichenwald or anyone else.

Next,Watters criticized him for 2 tweets where he said FU to members of the GOP and wished the death of their family members.

I'm only half way through this, and I've seen enough... Eichenwald is an idiot.

If anyone can point out what Watters said in that piece that justifies their attacks on him, please point it out to me.

While you're at it, can somebody point out the anti-Jew rhetoric Eichenwald implies is coming from Fox News?

Wow, thanks. I honestly didn't expect such a detailed account. I'll have to side with you on this one if everything you say here is correct. I'd look to verify normally but honestly I've been up all night and its 5:38am here. Simply too tired to do it. lol
