Two fake news stories attacking Trump on his Japan trip, with CNN involved in both

What's despicable about it? Did you read it? It's literally just Trump's quote about wanting more Japanese companies to build plants in the U.S. and then some stats on how much they already have invested here. You'd think they accused him of something nasty by all the responses in this thread.

Do you honestly don't get it?

It's not just CNN or even the American media. The whole world's media hates Trump too, and reported these stories.

Uh, no they didn't. Not the dishonest one CNN originally reported. Don't look for it now, they rushed to replace it as soon as they started getting slammed for it.

Do you honestly don't get it?
I find it is hard to feel persecuted without a persecution complex. Perhaps that's why so many of us don't get it?

So your position is that the article is biased because of what they didn't say? CNN didn't say Trump didn't know what he was talking about, YOU said that. So, again, we see the problem is really with YOUR bias, not with the CNN article.

Which, I believe, we all knew it was from the beginning.

If that was true, why are so many other news sources slamming CNN for their biased and crafted report?

LMAO... It's hard to take you seriously when your posts on this particular subject display such a deficiency in basic common sense and reasoning.

Why don't you start a thread about how you believe the Washington Post is lying and how they fabricated the entire story... See how far you get with that one.

The only people that don't it are Trump haters. The die hards that would call him a liar if he said the sky was blue. If you notice, there are only a few of you that aren't getting it. Most of the usual haters at least know a losing argument and stay away.

If that was true, why are so many other news sources slamming CNN for their biased and crafted report?
I suppose it depends on the sources. I've seen a bunch of right wing news source slamming the report, which is not surprising since they do that all the time. All I can say is that I've read the report (and its apparent original form) and it looks like a reporting of facts to me.

As usual, you didn't answer my question. We'll try it again:

The only people that don't it are Trump haters.
And yet, the people I predominately see attacking it are Trump supporters. Funny that...

Already stated as you well know....

So, are you going to start that thread on the Washington Post fabricating that story and lying to the public? I guess you first need to gather up your manhood and call them out first, which of course I predicted you wouldn't do.

edit: while your at it, you can call the Herald Sun liars too

UPDATE:

CNN finally caves to public pressure and issues a correction of their misleading headline and BS insinuations.

"The original version of this article and its headline did not make clear that President Trump had praised Japanese automakers for expanding existing U.S. facilities and for making new investments in the U.S. The article and headline have been updated."

.

Original video from CNN suggested that Trump acted on his own.

I've deleted this tweet which was based on multiple news reports but the video clearly shows Abe dumping his box of food first.

Donald Trump and the fish food dump: How early reports got it wrong | PolitiFact

Initial reports of the food dump -- like this early video from CNN -- suggested that Trump acted on his own.

You have no argument here. It is plain as day what happened here with CNN. Of course you don't see it as an attack. No Left leaning or progressive will. They'll just excuse it by saying he deserves it for some other thing completely unrelated. It's pretty predictable.

That is your point of view, I thought the article was not really that impressive but still, talking to Japanese business leaders like that is just plain stupid, you do not do things like that in public in that culture.

So in your view, CNN taking Trumps words out of context and implying that he had no idea that there were Japanese cars being manufactured in the US, isn't an attack on his intelligence?

Maybe you didn't read all of my post, but the current CNN article posted on their website is NOT the original version they published. Using the quote "Try building your cars in the United States instead of shipping them over. Is that possible to ask? That's not rude. Is that rude? I don't think so," the original version centers around the narrative that Trump didn't know that Japan already manufactures cars in the US. They didn't include his words before or after that quote, which would have put what he said into it's correct and accurate context.

The original headline said:

“Trump asks Japan to build cars in the U.S. It already does.”

It now reads:

“Trump asks Japan to build more cars in the U.S.”

They added the word "more" and deleted the last part "It already does", because they were once again caught publishing a fake news story ATTACKING Donald Trump. I don't how it can be seen any other way. Hell, you don't have to take my word on what they did, just read the Washington Post article I linked to.

.

They commented on all his statement, even when he talked about them spending that much money to build factories, so it was not under reported or ignored. If that had been the case your story would be totally valid.

But he publicly admonished Japanese men, bad move, really bad move. He is a guest there and should not have behaved in that manner. Japanese people are weird that way.

Reporting that misleads the reader, as opposed to giving them the whole story is known as "yellow journalism," and CNN excels at yellow journalism.

By insinuating that Trump didn't know some Japanese car manufactures were already making their cars here, they attacked Trump's business knowledge.

I don't know why CNN, and other outlets, are trying so hard to discredit Trump. Every day. The selectively quote individual words or comments out of context. Yellow journalism at its worst.

Unfortunately, I think the American public has lost confidence in all media because of these intellectually dishonest tactics.

Wow, then the article must not have mentioned his comments:

At the same time, Trump thanked Japanese automakers for "building new plants and doing expansions" of existing facilities in the United States. He praised Toyota (TM) and Mazda (MZDAF) for planning a new $1.6 billion manufacturing plant in the U.S.

Also this was a business CNN story and the focus was money/business and not politics. Now it is very difficult to fully ignore this but thank goodness CNN money is allowed to have an opinion of their own and if they disagree with Trump then so be it.

I would have criticized him for the manner in which he discussed this but that is my opinion, not CNN's.

Posting bull**** for your leftwing brothers? CNN most certainly took Trump's words out of context and tried to make him sound ignorant, when he was saying nothing of the sort. You're not doing your side any favors by trying to whitewash what was done here. Trump is a billionaire businessman for over 40 years, and trying to make him look like he doesn't know business it pure foolishness. CNN is a piece of **** news business, that has to lie to make leftwingers like you feel better about themselves.

Yup, that is me, mr. Leftist himself.

CNN reported on all his comments. You may want to ignore that fact but I do not care.

And CNN is not a great news network, I agree, but they are at least much much much better than some (like Foxnews for example).

Once again, you are reading the updated story, not the original one CNN published.

Their original story did not use either a Trump quote, or reported on anything that he said, that in any way indicated he knew that Japan manufactured cars in the US. They instead used that one, cherry picked, out of context quote as the foundation for their dishonest story designed to mislead people into believing that the president had no idea that Japanese companies manufactured cars in the United States.

Google it and you will find several news outlets that have now reported on CNN's dishonesty, and with the exception of a few far left websites, none who have dared to try and defend them.

Yeah, if they criticize Trump there is very little reason to attack them from a left leaning point of view now is there. Just like most on the right defend Foxnews to the hilt even if they lie and distort things just as much as CNN does, just from a different leaning.

Already stated as you well know....
No, you didn't answer my question. You do everything you can not to answer the easy questions and we both know why.

This wasn't criticism, this was fabrication. They took Trump's words totally out of context to level a false attack on the man.

There is a mountain of things to legitimately criticize Trump over, yet CNN once again gets caught making **** up.

Forget it Grim17. They are doing what they continually claim Trump supporters do.......ignore the evidence that's right there and divert the topic with nonsensical comparisons like post #70.

We know that they regularly post his remarks out of context, and when the context is revealed, they are destroyed.

This is really getting ridiculous... There hasn't been a president in my lifetime that's offered the media such an abundance of legitimate things for them to criticize, yet they continue churning out fake stories to attack him with. The American News Media hasn't damaged it's credibility with this behavior, it has completely destroyed it and I for one am very saddened by this. I never thought I would see the day when partisan politics would run roughshod over journalistic integrity, but here we are.

Fake News Story #1:

CNN Money published a story yesterday titled “Trump asks Japan to build cars in the U.S. It already does.” In a speech Trump gave to Japanese auto executives, CNN took the president's words out of context to imply that he had no idea that there are Japanese auto manufacturing plants in the US and have been for several decades. The quoted Trump in the story saying:
“Try building your cars in the United States instead of shipping them over,” Trump said. “Is that possible to ask? That's not rude. Is that rude? I don't think so.”

The followed that up with:

"Japanese automakers have tried: The country's big three car companies already have huge factories in the U.S., and their production in the country is at a record high."

Like Trump had no idea that those auto plants existed. Here's the transcript of what the president said, with the part that CNN Money used for their story in red:
When you want to build your auto plants, you will have your approvals almost immediately. When you want to expand your plants, you will have your approvals almost immediately. And in the room, we have a couple of the great folks from two of the biggest auto companies in the world that are building new plants and doing expansions of other plants. And you know who you are, and I want to just thank you very much. I want to thank you.

I also want to recognize the business leaders in the room whose confidence in the United States — they've been creating jobs — you have such confidence in the United States, and you've been creating jobs for our country for a long, long time. Several Japanese automobile industry firms have been really doing a job. And we love it when you build cars — if you're a Japanese firm, we love it — try building your cars in the United States instead of shipping them over. Is that possible to ask? That's not rude. Is that rude? I don't think so. (Laughter.) If you could build them. But I must say, Toyota and Mazda — where are you? Are you here, anybody? Toyota? Mazda? I thought so. Oh, I thought that was you. That's big stuff. Congratulations. Come on, let me shake your hand. (Applause.) They're going to invest $1.6 billion in building a new manufacturing plant, which will create as many as 4,000 new jobs in the United States. Thank you very much. Appreciate it.

The story was published yesterday morning at 6:51 Eastern time, and CNN Money did eventually replace it with one that reflected the truth of what Trump said... Of course CNN Money displaying their lack of journalistic integrity, just switched the story out and didn't bother issuing a correction or mentioning the errors that were contained in the original story which was picked up by several media outlets.

A few of those who ran with it were Slate, The Hill and CBS's White House reporter, Mark Knoller.

This was so blatantly false that Aaron Blake wrote a story in the Washington Post titled "Stop cherry-picking that Trump quote about Japanese cars. It’s not what you think."

Fake News Story #2:

CNN is again at the center of BS, this time they use an edited video and a story to imply that Trump broke some kind of Japanese fish-feeding protocol, which of course was picked up once again by several media outlets. They did the same thing as they had done with the car story and replaced the video and updated the story.

How shameful. Leftists have turned the American news media into an utter disgrace.

.

Trump did a fine job making himself look like a fool without any help from CNN.
He never needs any help.
Maybe some additional ass kissing by Fox can make Dumb Donnie feel better.

I can't speak about other US networks, since I don't watch them, but I can speak about CNN which has been circling the toilet for a couple of years now. Their over the top adulation of all things Obama was cloyingly nauseating and their blatant support of Hillary Clinton unquestionable. The once great and credible "most trusted name in news" no longer exists.

I do find it fitting and a case of serving up just desserts that CNN from the beginning of Trump's announcement to run for the Republican nomination pimped for Trump unendingly with puff pieces and soft ball interviews, giving him the vast majority of air time they gave to Republican nominees. They did this because the "brains" at CNN and on the left felt that Trump was the easiest candidate for Hillary Clinton to beat and so they did their best to help him win the nomination. But a funny thing happened on the way to the Clinton coronation - people started actually liking Trump, liking his style and what he was saying, and many independents started seeing him as a viable alternative to the criminal Clintons getting back into the White House. Thus, as soon as Trump had secured the nomination, and prior to the convention, CNN did a 180 and started attacking Trump with every story - if I'm not mistaken, the Billy Bush story was one of the first they trotted out in their attempt to destroy what they created. But it didn't work - even with their fake polls to the contrary, Trump got elected. And ever since the election CNN and the left in general has been so butt hurt and indignant that the American people rejected the criminal Clintons that they've tried endlessly to destroy the duly elected President of your country. Looks good on them.
