From MRC:

Shockingly, Project Veritas caught YouTube’s Brand and Diversity Curation Lead Earnest Pettie backing up that very claim [NYT Audience Strategy Editor Nicholas Dudich "admitting the Times manipulates what gets pushed on social media platforms like Facebook"].

“Nick is one of the people I think who has more knowledge about YouTube as a platform than probably anyone else that I know,” Pettie said.
Petty then basically admitted that YouTube artificially pushes stories that aren't trending organically to the forefront -- like, for instance, the James Comey hearings. https://www.mrctv.org/blog/project-...nMTIwazhjTEllUGtrdUVUSCt6cXJtSk5YVGw3RWorIn0=

Color me cynical, but I'm not even surprised.

The MRC? I am skeptical.

Re: Veritas vid exposes YouTube's "trending" bias

Veritas is even more reason to be skeptical.

Are they related to Infowars?

It is true that the videos that YouTube puts up on it's "trending" page, are selectively put up there. YouTube has a lot of issues at the moment.

I am not sure what the issue is with a private company promoting the content they choose. What am I missing?

That's not even the thing I'm concerned with.

I'm more concerned about the current issue with YouTube's ad system at the moment, and their selective enforcement of their guidelines.

I wouldn't be surprised if conservative-run sites own by private companies favor conservative material. Though I have heard that one is fair and balanced....

Yes, I'm snarking. But come on. Youtube doesn't have any duty to promote everything equally, even if O'Keefe's lie-factory was correct this time.

Are you saying I can't buy fetus hearts from Planned Parenthood?

No, but they do a great sautee with chili, onion, and chinese celery.

That kind of takes the fun out of abortion.

Next you're gonna tell me that I can't get a child prostitute with my pizza.

Re: Veritas vid exposes YouTube's "trending" bias

So...the Mainstream Media is concerned about supposed Russians putting videos on youtube to influence Americans...when they are using youtube's own manipulation techniques to influence Americans. I smell hypocrisy.

Makes me wonder who is influencing Americans more: Liberal media or the Russians.

Oh well, we know the Russians didn't affect our election...and we know the liberal media failed miserably in trying to affect our election. I guess the voters are too smart to fall for all that crap.

You have to find the stairs to the non-existent basement.

And that's the heart of the matter.

I doubt anyone is going to challenge your post.

So are you really confused about the difference between Americans and foreign countries?

Re: Veritas vid exposes YouTube's "trending" bias

And the right complains about fake news.

Is Veritas a subsidiary of Russia's Veri-Tass?

Pitiful to see people grasping at any excuse to believe this drivel.

Not at all. Influence is influence. Even when it fails.

So you see no difference between Americans influencing an American election, and foreign countries influencing an American election? Are you sure you want to go with that argument?

I see no difference between Americans influencing brains and non Americans influencing brains because I am tolerant of diversity.

Moderator's Warning:
Everyone please stick to the topic. Which is not about abortion, or Russian influence or anything else that has come up that is not about the topic of the thread. Which is Project Veritas and Youtube manipulating their trending pages. Stick to that and you'll be fine. Go off topic and you're likely to get banned from the thread at the very least.
