Veritas vid exposes YouTube's "trending" bias[W:25]

From MRC:

Shockingly, Project Veritas caught YouTube’s Brand and Diversity Curation Lead Earnest Pettie backing up that very claim [NYT Audience Strategy Editor Nicholas Dudich "admitting the Times manipulates what gets pushed on social media platforms like Facebook"].

“Nick is one of the people I think who has more knowledge about YouTube as a platform than probably anyone else that I know,” Pettie said.
Petty then basically admitted that YouTube artificially pushes stories that aren't trending organically to the forefront -- like, for instance, the James Comey hearings. https://www.mrctv.org/blog/project-...nMTIwazhjTEllUGtrdUVUSCt6cXJtSk5YVGw3RWorIn0=

Color me cynical, but I'm not even surprised.

I remember when I logged onto YouTube one morning, and there was a trending video from Cenk Uygur.. made from his Iphone no less. The video didn't even have 1k views at the time, and all I could ask myself was, how is this considered trending?

Re: Veritas vid exposes YouTube's "trending" bias

It is true that the videos that YouTube puts up on it's "trending" page, are selectively put up there. YouTube has a lot of issues at the moment.

I'll admit they are having some problems with their platform at the moment, but the overwhelming about of pressure a vast majority of the right leaning producers have been experiencing seems pretty focused on them.

You have shows like Louder with Crowder, that is right leaning & conservative. However the show is run like a radio broadcast syndicated show, so it does not contain cursing or extremely course language and when they do. The words are censored to ensure that they don't do out.
Almost all of their videos are demonetized, and cannot be view easily unless you have an account & go out of your way to find them.

The Young Turks on the other hand have cursing, vulgar rhetoric, and extremely liberal views.
But you would be hard pressed to find a single video that isn't monetized, or easily accessible for someone without an account.

This parallel can be drawn between more then a few liberal & conservative producers.

Next you're gonna tell me that I can't get a child prostitute with my pizza.

If I was calling from Bill Clinton, Harvey Weinstein, or Bill Cosby's number maybe.. they love return customers.

Re: Veritas vid exposes YouTube's "trending" bias

So...the Mainstream Media is concerned about supposed Russians putting videos on youtube to influence Americans...when they are using youtube's own manipulation techniques to influence Americans. I smell hypocrisy.

Makes me wonder who is influencing Americans more: Liberal media or the Russians.

Oh well, we know the Russians didn't affect our election...and we know the liberal media failed miserably in trying to affect our election. I guess the voters are too smart to fall for all that crap.

Not to mention they are really just too stupid to see how all of their high horse touting, brow beating rhetoric got him elected in the first place.

Got to love it when they let you win the race.

Re: Veritas vid exposes YouTube's "trending" bias

And that's the heart of the matter.

I doubt anyone is going to challenge your post.

No one actually intelligent at least, though I can still bet on those one off jackasses that want to get a jab in. Then they hightail it for the exit.

Dennis Hastert?

Re: Veritas vid exposes YouTube's "trending" bias

Dennis Hastert?

Oooh! Haven't heard that name in a hot minute.

The most I remember is how he got so deflated during his time after being exposed.. I guess the stress just melted those pounds off.

Re: Veritas vid exposes YouTube's "trending" bias

That's not even the thing I'm concerned with.

I'm more concerned about the current issue with YouTube's ad system at the moment, and their selective enforcement of their guidelines.
Theyre a private firm so its their privilege to put up whatever they want.

I will admit to that completely.

Still doesn't change they can be fascist as **** though.

Absolutely, but in that case call the feature videos and not trending videos.

Re: Veritas vid exposes YouTube's "trending" bias

Perhaps Youtube's trending category generally favors their largest audience, which is not older Republicans.

Re: Veritas vid exposes YouTube's "trending" bias

The left cannot win in the arena of ideas, since they are irrational; driven by emotions. Therefore the left has to cheat; dual standards. They also need propaganda, games, mis-direction and a stacked deck to mislead their base into thinking their ideas are better. If YouTube was balanced, the left would see a massive migration away from their base. To prevent that migration, they need to data stack and use even bad data.

Although YouTube is a business, they nevertheless provide food for thought. Therefore they should be regulated by the FDA like any food processing company. Maybe they need to add an ingredient label, to show these areas of the site are processed food for thought, and not organic. If you can make someone sick with hate, using processed food for thought, how is this different adding impurities to food we eat with the mouth? Look at the campus snow flakes and how impaired they became. One could do this with poison in their food, or poison in their food for thought.

Thank you nota, I've suspected this for months now. Seth Meyers and Stephen Colbert's anti-Trump rhetoric are the first videos I see every time I go to YouTube. These 2 comedians are completely irrelevant to YouTube's core demographic, which is young people aged 15-25.

I'm so oblivious that I never even noticed that YouTube had news. I look up a tune and leave. But "news-shaping" doesn't even surprise me anymore.
