You may be "laffin' your ass off" but others are standing around and wondering why. I supported keeping Columbus statues with added plaques providing a bit of history for passersby - so where's the "Left's hypocrisy"?

I provided a quote from the most memorialised Confederate leader; a quote which explained why he saw any monuments and statues as doing little but aggravating the tension and bad memories of the war he had lost.

Exactly what, did John Oliver get wrong?

There is, surely, a case for America, North and South, to be de-discovered. And all except full-blood native Americans to be deported, taking about every statue (except for those carved on totem poles) with them. Think about this for a while and you will see that this modest proposal would solve a multitude of problems

It looks like there are problems with violence on both sides PLUS the ever so small fact that not all on the left accept the violence advocated by Antifa

So am I. Hence, the existance of violent political activist/para-military units is why, in part at least, that we have the 2nd Amendment and illustrates it's importance.

Columbus Day is a celebration of the impact his discovery had on Western Civilization not so much the discovery in isolation. It ushered in an age of discovery and radically changed the way Western societies geographically understood the world. I find those who promote the replacement of this holiday with Indigenous Peoples Day typically predicate their argument on a “noble savage” fallacy.

Dude thought he'd found India. Despite the size of the earth being known to a percent or two since the Greeks, Columbus somehow got the size of the planet wrong by several thousand miles.
