Pretty much the worst take on the NFL kneeling issue

What legislation has the president proposed to curb thier freedom of speech?

*laughs If you are going to use legislation accomplishments to view Trump's actions you are going to have a rough time of it...it's his actions.

He came up with a bull**** argument that he knew would create chaotic controversy and divide in this country...another apparent win for his voter base...and even bigger win for his real base.

So the answer is he's proposed no legislation, thus preserving free speech. The president, any president, also enjoys free speech. Are you trying to call me a racist? Already? I'm disappointed in you.

Adriana Cohen of the Boston Herald:

She went from zero to ISIS pretty fast. For starters, taking A knee is not the same as getting on one's knees ... there's an extra knee involved in the latter. Secondly, football players take a knee all the time DURING PLAY. It's called a touchback, on a kickoff in the end zone. Or the victory formation, where the quarterback puts a team out of its misery.

People also take a knee when they're being knighted in the UK, the highest honor that can be bestowed in that country. Maybe that's a culture this ignorant twat has never heard of.

Wait, it gets better.

Name me one man NOT parting with his dignity who has ever proposed to a woman on both knees. That's not a proposal. That's begging.

Yes, it was just about his "poorly worded tweet." Not his speech in Alabama where he called anyone who kneeled a "son of a bitch" and urged NFL owners -- most of whom are rock-ribbed Republicans; hell, Roger Goodell himself is the son of a former GOP Congressman -- to just kick kneelers off the team. That had NOTHING to do with Sunday's display of solidarity against Trump.

Colin Kaepernick's original protest, one joined by players like Seattle star Michael Bennett, was to highlight injustices against black people. Last weekend was players giving a giant middle finger right back to Trump, and good on 'em for it. Donald Trump is an asshole, a worthless ****heel who has NO business in the nation's highest office. But back to the show ...

Wouldn't you just love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects the flag, to say 'Get that son of a bitch off the field right now, out, he's fired. He's fired.' You know, some owner is going to do that......

That's the exact quote. So he didn't really call any player a son of a bitch. Now I personally think that was a bit much, but you should try to be accurate.

Correct, so what? Certainly any president enjoys free speech but shouldn't we hope it is responsible and honest? I realize many readily don't appear to hold him to expected standards...he can do no wrong and when he does, find a bigger enemy to obfuscate and justify...nothing so warm and fuzzy as a feel good rationalization...even if based on "alternative facts".

He doesn't need legislation to combat free speech.

Excuse me? Where did you ever come up with me equating you to being a racist?

On one level I can understand how you might jump to such a conclusion considering Trump claimed it isn't about racism...an accusation by many on the left, which, by the way is not without merit...especially if one bothers to understand what their protest is about...which has to do with racism.

That being said, if you have the question, asking me is a good approach...No, I'm not trying to call you anything...just trying to engage in conversation to present my take on it...as real and honest as I know how based on my life's experiences...lurkers can judge for themselves.

As to "Already?"...are you paranoid?

As to, "I'm disappointed in you."...you are leading me to considering that in you, and just when I thought we were doing so well.

If you wish to get back on track with this...try going back to my post number 48 and answer the three questions with other than an irrelevant response which does not answer them.

ps...if I were to accuse someone specifically on DP directly of anything of a slur to that extreme...I'd want to take it to the Basement where I could elaborate in the manor such a person deserves...;)

He certainly had a few somebodies in mind or he couldn't use them for his agenda.

I understand that you hate him, carry on.

As is your choice to do so. One fan moves on and another appears, just how things go. At the end of the day, the Star Wars franchise has gone on to become one of the best loved sagas of all time. Very unlikely to change.

Even Jar Jar Binks couldn't destroy the franchise.

There was so much wrong with the Star Wars prequel trilogy, Jar Jar Binks included.
It was just awful

So Trumpian...make a judgement of me rather than address the point...minor speed bump...thanks for sharing.

I did address the point, before you. ;)

No, it is possible to think things through. That is what most of us do.

Yes, but sometimes one can play only the cards one is dealt.

Rosa Parks rode the bus all the time, CK played on the gridiron.

But CK had access to TV, Radio and social media. He could have done his protest any number of places. I doesn't matter to me but it is hurting the teams and the league. Seems self destructive to me.

I've been addressed by other than my name but was clear it was addressed to me...I doubt your name is fmw either so your "name" becomes a moot point...the fact that the quote contained "you" made it personal, not generalized...a distinction apparently...you know...attack the message, not the poster...just trying to understand the spirit of the issue, I suppose.

As to your original hogwash...for the most part...you somewhat accurately address the disconnect in arguments being made, imo...however, I believe the conclusion you draw is hogwash.

What conclusion did I draw? I don't remember.

Some folks take the teachings of Christ to heart. They know the material world is nice, but that principles such as love and social justice are more important.

I don't follow social media, but I would bet that somewhere CK took a stand there too. All Rosa Parks was dealt was the city bus system.

I did address the point, before you. ;)

No...you made your point...which I addressed with a bit of a different perspective...which, btw, anybody with an open mind and actual understanding of the issue would be able to address

You, on the other hand attacked me rather than address the point I made...that's straight out of the Trumpian playbook...divert and accuse...it appeals to people on certain levels to knee jerk reactions such as fighting a common "enemy"...handy to have one of them...use the KISS method when appealing to emotion...keep it simple stupid...accuse others...present a more appealing debate to appeal to emotion rather than logic when herding a mentality...one of the oldest tricks in the book...can be for good or bad depending on one's perspective and motive.

I understand that serious questions can present problems so...misleading tweets work...create chaos and confusion...real presidential...excuse me, modern day presidential

Kinda like one line alternative facts as you submitted, rather than addressing my point.

Can you imagine what we would be discussing if Trump wasn't a racist?

Picture this scenario...a conversation with an adult in the room...

"You know what, it pisses me off that those sons of bitches kneel during the Anthem and I wanna know why!!!!... SO SAD!!!"

"Well sir, as I understand it, it is meant as a protest about mistreatment of black people and not due to disrespecting our veterans or our country, they see it as a free speech issue."

"I see, well I think it's wrong and seems unpatriotic...how about getting old what's their faces, you know that black group in congress...we need to address this...it just ain't right and I'm going to stop this crap even if I have to get the sons of bitches fired."

"Yes, sir"

tick tock tick tock

"Hello Sir, I understand you have an issue with disrespect for our flag among sports players who are predominately black?"

"Don't misunderstand me, I'm no racist it's just that they appear to be all black so I called you because I am concerned with racial tension in America so I sought some understanding."

(if that were true and he really cared, he should already know...uncaring or ignorant...pick)

Anyway...suppose he had taken that tack? Suppose he found out the real issue, called in the players and owners to discuss how to address his concerns without attacking their racial issues?

The apparent logical motivation for him handling the issue this way that he has is...obfuscation and division and to rile up a call for "Patriotism"...a tactic used when trying to garner support, not only on that issue but for greater entertainment to come.

Damn sure, if I had season tickets to burn, I'd want to do it on Television...keep enough to identify them and sell on eBay, prolly make enough profit to pay for the next few seasons since The Donald got those sons of bitches to stand...:lamo

What conclusion did I draw? I don't remember.

"We can all get on the same page if we all agree that the players can protest whatever they like but doing it during the anthem is probably more self destructive than effective."

How do you figure it is "self destructive"? Seems to me it has been quite effective in shedding light on the real issue...granted, it will take time for people to get over the knee jerk anger, people who honestly believe in what the country is suppose to stand for will seek understanding...those who think it means pledging to a symbol while not understanding that the ideal is not met with the reality will remain ignorant and easily led into just about anything with the right manipulation.

This has been going on for millennia, many studies have been done...it is nothing new...Trump just makes it entertaining...and prolly will to the end.

Whoe. What an idiot. They are obviously very manly and in their prime.

This is bizarre. The left is trying to protect free speech but the right isn't attacking free speech. The right is suggesting that the playing of the national anthem is not the best time to protest but the left likes it. We can all get on the same page if we all agree that the players can protest whatever they like but doing it during the anthem is probably more self destructive than effective. It isn't as complicated as people think.

And millions disagree with you. The players are making a statement in order to try to make life better for their black children. If they're doing that is so offensive to right-wingers then those that are so offended shouldn't watch the NFL. Fine with me.

PAY ATTENTION. The protest is not the problem. The time and place the players chose to protest is the problem. I can't say it more clearly than that.
