No shock here that the big 3 passed on the first day of the corruption trial of Democratic Sen. Robert Menendez. There were more important stories of national interest to cover like Safety ratings on pickup trucks, a woman's wedding registry and a story about Legos.

Network Evening Newscasts Ignore First Day of Menendez Trial

All three major network newscasts ignored the first day of Democratic Sen. Robert Menendez's (N.J.) corruption trial during their Wednesday night airings.
CBS, NBC, and ABC all began their programs discussing Hurricane Irma before reporting on President Donald Trump's decision to support a short-term debt-ceiling extension or providing an update on the recovery efforts in Texas for Hurricane Harvey victims.

NewsBusters noted that the ABC and NBC morning shows also ignored the trial Wednesday morning, while "CBS This Morning" did a brief blurb on it.

And hurricanes, DACA, the border wall, Korean nukes, yeah, it's really been a slow news day. It's a good thing we have good, solid conservative sources like the Washington Post giving us the real scoop on a Democrat accused of corruption.

Oh, yes, and the New York Post, the Chicago Tribune, and CNN. If it weren't for those, we'd never hear about the Democrats who get into trouble.

It's good it wasn't NBC doing truck safety story

Those trucks could possibly explode from a collision, but their risk factor was no higher than other trucks. Heck people still talk about that today, and believe it knowing it is debunked. In all reality any car or truck hit near the fuel tank at enough velocity to rupture the tank with a hot enough heat source nearby can ignite it, and as we see now it is rare, and nbc tried to fabricate news on that one, maybe for sensationalism, maybe because ford dumped a bunch of money who knows?

They didn't cover it the way the RW blogosphere thought it should be! They should be breaking in with 24/7 coverage of the first day of a trial!

It wasn't how they covered it, but the fact they didn't cover it at all... Not a word.

I showed you several sources that did cover it.
Of course, none of them covered it 24/7 and intimated that all Democrats are therefore corrupt, but they did cover the story.

Why do you want MSM to tell you what you already know? Here is a news flash...Congress people from both parties are charged and tried for bribery charges. It isn't a (D) thing or a (R) thing.

The real news story is that there are so few these days.

NJ News and Fios 1 News covered the trial. Honestly Menendez is a creep. I don't want him gracing the TV screens.

Exactly. The list of Congress folk taking free plane rides on private jets, staying free at exclusive resorts and getting all their meals paid for is endless. Hell, didn't Justice Scalia even die at one of those resorts?

The MSM carries around a locked briefcase a lot like the nuclear football. Inside it is the phrase "Democrat on trial for corruption".

So you're saying the trial of a sitting US Senator is no big deal?

It will be when he is acquitted.

For one thing, this was day one. They"re not going to have a verdict any time soon.

But really, this is just a partisan thing. You want to see a Democrat get punished, and want to see nothing but this on the news. 24/7. Because It's a Democrat.

NEWS: All 18 counts against Menendez going to the jury. Despite casting doubt on charges last week, judge today let them go forward
