Can you see the difference? What is the top story for CNN? Fox? I am not a fan of fox and they are a political rag too. But when a major attack happens and this is what makes their top page? Come on CNN. How is THAT your top news story? And this is DAILY. Not a one off. Every day is "trump this" or "trump that." Not the North Koreans. Not the terror attacks. Not the dozens of other actual newsworthy events. But trump.

Does anyone else even bother to watch the news anymore? I will no longer be using CNN because you won't get a full story if you are even lucky enough to find actual news there. Hell. MSNBC and Fox BOTH had the Spain attack as the top story.

Sigh.

The crowd is not the sum of its parts.

I am a republican who did not vote for Trump (Or Hillary).

Um Most of MSNBC stories are about Trump too. Only Fox has nothing negative to say. Of course I see a difference ;)

This is a direct reflection of what I have been seeing here in this Forum.

Post after post citing some negative aspect of the current President from how he gets along with his wife to how much of a Nazi loving racist he must be since he did not do such and so and the racist's like him.

Periodically there is some valid issue raised, but it gets submerged by the latest gossip line or misrespresentation of facts. (We can't say "lies" because of course only evil truly lies while the virtuous simply make honest mistakes. )

Of note...we don't seem to be hearing much about collusion these days, as eight months into the Administration and nothing has actually come to light.

In fact, we now have a developing narrative (although still awaiting some new revelation) about investigation into all aspects of the President's past, especially his financials. Ostensibly to find some economic smoking gun connection to Russia, but in reality simply looking for anything that can be used against him.

Then people wonder why those of us who continue to support him haven't changed our minds.

You will find that most media are liberal and are all reporting under a mutual paradigm. Only where the readership is interested in robust information to act on do you find a semblance of the old separation of news and editorial Americans could once reasonably rely on.

None of the Cable News networks are covering International news very well. I listen to NPR, who covers it very well.

Trump is his own worst enemy with the news. He's the POTUS. If he says something; or tweats something, it's going to be covered. Trump needs to quit focusing on Trump, and concern himself with the country. He got rave reviews from CNN, when he gave the tribute to the Navy seal. He got good reviews, after his address to Congress. Here is the 1st paragraph of that CNN review.

Gone from his speech to a joint session of Congress were the lengthy attacks on media and Democratic opponents. Missing was the gloom-and-doom warnings of "American carnage" from his inaugural address. And while he didn't deliver a ton of policy specifics, Trump smoothed his rough edges, soothed congressional Republicans and reached out to populations he'd previously alienated.

"The time for trivial fights is behind us," Trump said.

Don't blame CNN. They cover the News.

Don't blame CNN. They cover the News.

There is a difference between "covering" and creating. CNN is creating news by often spinning and/or misrepresenting information in the worst light possible. Then rinsing and repeating so it stays uppermost in the viewer's minds.

I agree, the media situation in the states is beyond ridiculous. I don't think, however, one can simply put the blame on CNN and say job done. Trump has declared war on the free press in America because they didn't gloss over his faults support his lies, or ignore his scandals, and with the encouragement of the majority of Americans (per the last election, popular vote), they fought back, and are in the process of showing the enormous amount of power they have. Like so many things that you guys are dealing with at the moment, this can be traced back to the consequences of putting a someone like Trump in charge. We all knew it was going to be a mess, we're just finding out exactly how, as this train wreck unravels.

Not excusing anyone...but root cause includes Donald Trump.

I just saw where Wolf let one of his reporters [Jim Sciutto] suggest that the Barcelona terrorist attack by auto was ... wait for it ... a copycat of the Charlottesville attack.
“But the final point I would make, Wolf, is just this note, that in light of the uproar of the last several days, 5 days apart you have a white supremacist in Charlottesville use a vehicle to kill, and here you have attackers at least following the modus operandi of terrorists, using vehicles apparently to kill as well.”
Swear to God.

And Wolf responded with ...
“There will be questions about copycats, there will be questions if what happened in Barcelona was at all a copycat version of what happened in Charlottesville, Virginia, even though they may be different characters, different political ambitions.”
How's that for honest journalism?

And POLITICO reported that Trump said ...
“Okay, what about the alt-left that came charging at us ...”
when he really said ...
“Okay, what about the alt-left that came charging at 'em ...”
When POLITICO got called on it they changed "us" to "[indiscernible]".

Ya gotta marvel at the brazenness of a smear machine when it gets going.

Nate, the media should play it honestly.
If there's that much that Trump has ****ed up there'd be no need to make so much of it up (e.g. like in #8) like they've been doing for a couple of years.
Report honestly and let whatever happens happen without giving it a push by an indistinguishable blending of commentary and reporting.

Sure. But top story? MSNBC got that right. So did fox.

Totally agree...as I said, the media situation is ridiculous, and I'm not making excuses for anyone. It just bears repeating that it takes two to tango. The escalation to the current state wouldn't have happened without Trump declaring war on the media, and the public being willing to accept and support the media's behavior as an accelerator of hyper partisanship on both sides of the political spectrum. All I'm saying is that it's a mess that #CNNSucks won't fix.

CNN is flat out awful. It's not the politics that bother me, it's the people they hire. It's as if they hired from a want ad. They shun talented contributors apparently because talented contributors are less likely to toe the party line. The best of them is Wolf Blitzer for the first 15 minutes, then I got to move on to stay awake.

You cant possibly have watched CNN since 2015 and not have seen them as rabidly, blindly partisan democrat. CNN has been leading the We hate Trump wagon train and has been committed to working with the leftists in this country that have had one goal since 9 Nov 2016...destroy Trump and the Trump presidency.

Here's a fine example of journalistic integrity.

Oh God there's so much that contributes to the effing mess we're in and the Trump personality has certainly played a big role.
The guy talks in shorthand & bursts of phrases and people inclined to look for something to exploit as evil have an easy time doing that.
And there are many groups who do that for a living and for ideology.
The Trump is a nazi and white supremacist smear is active.
He's neither, of course, but challengers to the claim can't be found because they're too afraid of being splattered by proximity.
Journalism & politics has given itself carte blanche to say and do anything and feel justified on ideological grounds.
You'd expect it of political opposition but commentators & personalities ... and reporters ... all feel free to repeat false stories for the greater good.
The only way out of this mess is if in the end the strategy has been shown not to have worked.
I have my doubts.

CNN was clearly waiting for all the facts to come out before making it the top story.

I think you don't find a lot of people challenging the rhetoric around Trump's racism because he while he may or may not be actively racist, he enjoys and encourages the support of racists as part of a base he can count on to approve of him. Does that make him a racist on it's own? Not sure...

I agree with everything else you've got here.

Do what I do. Ignore anything said by the press when it relates to politics. It is worthless on both sides. They aren't even good at forecasting the weather.

CNN was clearly waiting for all the facts to come out before making it the top story.

No. They do this EVERY day. Trump is the top story. Or the top 5 or 6. They don't make top stories about others because it doesn't help their ratings.

Nor would it have happened if the liberal media did not declare war on Trump with Fake New starting at the beginning of his campaign.

Fake news at the beginning of the campaign? That was a long time ago...what are you talking about? (Not a dig, actually curious to see examples - I have seen clear examples after he became president, and even late in his campaign, but fake news right from the beginning I'm not aware of, would love to see).

CNN is the 24/7 anti-Trump outlet. And thats by choice. Trump was the best thing to happen to them.

Is this an Anti-Trump review?

This was a CNN review, after Trump addressed Congress. Sounds pretty good, doesn't it? Why? Because addressing Congress is a "presidential" thing to do. If Trump is a good little boy, CNN will reward him. But Trump is usually a bad boy.
