Sarah Huckabee Sanders went on an anti-media tirade, until a newspaper reporter...

Re: Sarah Huckabee Sanders went on an anti-media tirade, until a newspaper reporter..

I like the part where even a Breitbart reporter took her to task.

I can't read the article without subscribing to the WaPo :(

Two thumbs up for CC.

I've been using it since waaaaay back when they actually used to call it 'crap cleaner'.

I'd feel sorry for the white house communications staff if they didn't choose to be there. I would have respected Spicey if instead of making himself look like a fool, he'd said f.u. to Trump regarding claiming there was record attendance to Trump's inauguration.

I understand that Trump makes outlandish claims and/or keeps changing his story and the communications staff are made to look like fools. Again - they make the choice to keep polishing Trump's turds. Either stand up to Trump, resign, or quit whining about the media.

I just hope the administration's appointees are living frugally because they'll be unemployable after the next few election cycles. Being a whore for 45 will have consequences.

Prolly might be a good time to look at the sheer volume of turd polishing going on in this country all the time, too.

Independent of politics (and I don't really know who she is) I think she has a point. There is a problem with badly sourced and excessively spun stories in the media and personally I don't trust "anonymous sources" not to be made up. I've personal experience of the UK tabloids printing false information and claiming it case from unnamed sources ("friends of..." is a common one here). I also don't accept the defence that the media will be taken to task by their customers because what sells these days isn't the truth but what people want to believe - that's a major cause of this problem in the first place.

Now politicians are certainly guilty too, more than happy to play along with, even feed, this institutional fraud and only complain if the game doesn't go their way (which I'm sure is what's happening here) but that doesn't mean what she is saying doesn't have any validity to it.

Re: Sarah Huckabee Sanders went on an anti-media tirade, until a newspaper reporter..

The White House is emboldened to spray out dishonesty like a firehose, 24/7. One news vendor doesn't properly vet its source, three people are fired as a result, and the White House has the gall to say that it was justified in crying fake news all along. 669 false or misleading statements were made by Trump alone since his inauguration. If you were to add to that the statements of his press staff and, that figure would easily jump into the thousands.

Bannon, it is worth noting, is a devoted reader of the “neoreactionary” internet philosopher Curtis Yarvin, an advocate of the strategic benefits of spreading misinformation. But two people close to the administration say that White House staffers do much of their lying for sport, rather than to further any larger agenda.

“They all lie,” said a conservative journalist with close ties to the West Wing, who described an informal contest to smuggle the biggest whoppers into print. “It’s a game to them.”

Trump’s Fake War on the Fake News - POLITICO Magazine

Trump has been gish galloping the country since he started running for President, and now with all the institutions of the White House at his disposal those lies have multiplied so that one can only respond to a lie here, a lie there, while thousands and thousands of other lies rain over our heads. The nature of the country is absolutely poisonous, and it's all Trump's fault, because he has deliberately broken truth to the point that the public is too exhausted to address it head on any more.

And there's still three and a half years to go.

Shaun and Sarah both know, they won't have much of a career after Trump.

"“I disagree completely,” Sanders replied. “First of all, if anything has been inflamed, it's the dishonesty that often takes place by the news media.”"

For a spokesperson, she's pretty damn inarticulate.
